Why are you guys being mean?![]()

I'm sorry. Bad attempt at humor.

Right. My 3 year old eats meat even though she has seen a cow before. but I guess she’s damned to hell for being the soulless monster that she is because some silly chick said so. FOH. Might as well say “Anyone who lies is a monster with no soul.” Don’t pick and choose when you want to follow the Great Moral Compass, go big or go home.

Worse yet, watch some of those videos taken in slaughterhouses, terrible stuff. We go buy meat all packaged prettily and injected with red dye (for beef anyway), but have no conception of the fear and suffering that those animals go through before we eat the steaks and chops.
I gave up veal long ago, which was easy because I'm not crazy about it. Then lamb even though I love lamb, because I can't eat babies. Now I'm phasing out pork, because they are as smart and as loyal as dogs if they are raised that way.
Chicken and beef, it might take a while. I do love a steak.

For those who are interested, here is a good article describing the relationship between the veal and dairy industries: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...o-1567839.html
If you're not interested, feel free to click away!I'm sure there is plenty of content on the entire internet to keep you entertained.

Oh yeah and the way they mistreat the dairy cows, yank their newborns away, etc. I drink a lot of milk because it's great after a workout, but soon might switch to more humane suppliers.

Saw this on the news a few weeks ago...

Even organic meat has small traces of drugs.
There are some vegan body builders if you're interested... I have a book about vegan body building because I was a really weird kid.
The documentary Earthlings is really intense, I personally turned it off after 5 minutes, but can be a good starting point for anyone interested.
I am positive if people knew how animals are farmed we as a society would not be so laissez faire about it. Everyone loses their shit over a sweet little puppy dog tied up outside but doesn't care at all about pigs/chickens/cows who spend their whole tortured lives in pens so small they can't even turn around. It's atrocious.
Of course some people are willfully ignorant, which is fine. You do you![]()

Actually, I wanted to comment about this as someone who used to work in the meat industry. I do have an concept of fear and dread that the animals go through when they get slaughter for food. I used to work for "humane" slaughterhouses but the animals' suffering in their death is still jarring. But at least, where I work...animals did not suffer long...some of those places have them suffer so much cruelty before death. Particularly, if you ever heard about what happens to horses at the slaughterhouse....then you can imagine. Animals understand death way more than humans give them props for. They understand their moment of death when they get ready to have the stun gun used on them. Chickens also have an dignity about them in their moment of death. After working at the slaughterhouse, I love and respect animals a lot more now. They are beautiful beings and they need to be respect as such. But also, I saw steak and sausage get made....so I know more better than make light of their deaths when I saw men turn animals into meat.

I have been vegetarian for 10 years and vegan for 3, although I became interested in veganism about 5 years ago. I tend to avoid ethical discussions because some people get so defensive and you can't educate someone who doesn't want to learn. Some people get so worked up about the topic they automatically shut it down and begin to belittle you, make stupid jokes, etc., they just can't approach the idea with an open mind. I do think it's great when people make small efforts such as switching to nut-based milk, or even participating in something like Meatless Monday. Within the last 3 years I've seen a HUGE shift towards the plant-based movement and that excites me. There's such a wide variety of vegan products and substitutes even in "regular" grocery stores, and I've traveled to some obscure places and been impressed. I was in Allentown, Pennsylvania and amazed to find out they had a 100% vegan bakery. The hotel I stayed at even made me a vegan Philly cheesesteak out of seitan.
Anyway, if you're interested in learning more about the ethical side, I HIGHLY recommend watching a documentary called "Earthlings". It will stick with you forever. I believe you can find it for free on YouTube. That was the documentary that did me in and made me think, "I can't support this industry with my dollar."

Anyone else dressing up for Halloween this year? It seems I'm the oddball over age 30 who still gets excited and dresses up for Halloween.

Because the mod took our comments down. Apparently you can have an opinion but no one can counter it.
What's interesting is that I was vegan for 2 years and had to except that I didn't feel any more ethical than the next person for my decision. My shit didn't stink any more but i wasn't any happier for turning down a burger. I lost weight, i felt great, my hair looked good but I didn't turn to my neighbor and sneer at their dietary decisions. If anything i was more annoyed by vegans because the ones I knew were so fucking extra (like the original broad that brought this up) that it made me wonder if a judgemental attitude was part of the ingredients listed in quinoa.
Drink almond milk and inhale as much vegan pho as you want - it tastes good. But also get over yourself.

^ Oh ok. I've never been to NYC. Maybe someday.
I went to Dollar Tree and noticed that they had blank styrofoam pumpkins. I bought one and decided to decorate it. I've never really worked with styrofoam before but there's a first time for everything. This is the result. WIN_20180915_17_34_31_Pro.jpg
