    Default Torn between two computers

I have to get a new computer from best buy (Warranty replacement) I was looking at https://deals.bestbuy.com/product/6747396 Lenovo - IdeaPad 15.6" Laptop - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Graphite Gray

    and https://deals.bestbuy.com/product/6774657 Samsung - Series 7 15.6" Laptop - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Titan Silver

(both have windows 8 and OMG I am so lost using that!!)

I have always used HP as I am very comfortable with the keyboard (other job is typing for speed and can not type on an asus) but there are no HP's in the store that are i7 with the side number pad (which I need)

any suggestions from you computer girls??

I really like Lenovo, however between those two I would get the Samsung.
It has a dedicated graphics card which is waay better than integrated graphics. Also it has an 8 cell battery instead of 4 cell so it will get better battery life, and the screen has a higher resolution.

Ironically the Lenovo has the better performing processor of the two, even though it is the cheaper option. (You can check at http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html)

However, processor isn't everything. The first computer has an integrated Intel video card which is significantly handicapped compared to the one in the other computer. The integrated one is pretty standard for laptops though, so you'll see the same graphics card in many other laptops too. You could be able to get away with it, but I'd really recommend a more advanced video card. Basically, I wouldn't go with either of those laptops. If I had to recommend one, I'd say option 1 based upon the improved processor speed.

If you really like the 10 key pad (the number pad) on a laptop you should really shop for size 17"+ as most of those come standard with the 10 key.

THanks, I'll keep looking then, they did have a http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Lenovo+-...&skuId=6963425 and it has the 2GB dedicated video memory.. I had a 17" one 2 laptops ago, seems more and more of that 15.6 inch ones are coming with that keypad.

Can I just take you guys shopping with me lol I am THE worst big decision shopper, I always have to have like a kazillion opinions before spending thousands of dollars

Okay I have looked and I am now found these three, I noticed the asus keypads number area are not different then the one I have at home, (thank god they changed them!) I may have to get use to typing on one, the buttons just seem so hard to push. maybe it's just the one that I currently own, but anyway, these three are really the only ones I was finding that have the separate graphics.. I know Twisted said she wouldn't go with either of the ones that I had chosen.. So I Continued to look just that they don't have much at the stores, so I would have to order one.. Here are the three.

Personally, I'd go with either of the Asus. Reading the specs they seem nice, and I personally like Asus products. Any of them will be able to handle video editing/camming/etc. Personally, I'm feeling the one in the middle.

Thank you Vela, I actually went into best buy today, and OMG those two asus's weight 10 lbs lol! I started looking at some of the msi or cyberpower as they weigh less.. I could get a good workout lugging those asus's around! I was shocked!! This is turning into more of a project. I am so weird when it comes to making a big purchases, I research and research and get a zillion opinions!

    This one asus is only 8lbs Asus - 17.3" Laptop - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive + 1TB Hard Drive - Black Model: N76VJ-DH71 ohvey!

Both the asus are very similar. One has turbo boost with a lower ghz, the other has a slightly higher ghz with no turbo boost. I personally like the one with turbo boost, but their really both perfectly legit laptops.
