    Default Checking References

I get tired of writing the same exact email to multiple providers to check the reference on each client. How do you make checking references less of a chore?
Do you forward the same email to all of the providers for that particular client? Or do you send each provider an individual email for reference checks?

I have a pre-written little "speel" saved in a Word Doc. I just copy and paste in the guys needed. I dont forward the emails cuz I don't thats risky: some ladies ARE crazy and will do malicious things with a list of ladies who have been seeing "her" client. Plus, your kinda supposed to include details about his meeting with her so you can jog her memory - that specific info should be with as few people as possible.

I think all in all, it takes me about 5min per email/lady so its honestly not that bad.

I personalize it...I guess cause I cant stand getting cut and paste emails myself.

But its not really a chore to me, I mean you dont have to write a full page thing here. Im along the lines of:

Subject: Reference Request: John Doe / Username

Message: Hello Providers Name! John Doe gave me your info as a reference, and it would be great to know the word on him.
His number is xxx-xxx-xxxx, email is [email protected] and he said you met "x wks/mth" ago at "Location"
Thanks and hope everything is well with you!
    ~ Curious Provider

3 sentences, and if you want you coudl leave out the last sentence, it could be just two...Im just a jolly soul so I always say thanks and wish them well All that took me barely a minute to write. Granted I type fast, but still, its not that much. And I agree with not sending out the exact same email to all, since the memory jogger/date of last meet etc info will be different, so you dont want to share unnessary details with every provider youre getting a ref from, besides that it wouldnt make sense and would likely throw up red flags to the lady getting it.

I also always send a followup thank you email when they reply to me. Its just the cordial thing to do...but again, just a one line note of appreciation. Only takes a few seconds.

You can always blind carbon copy (BCC) if you want to send multiple people the same email without giving away the other email addresses. Be aware that emails with multiple senders can wind up in the spam box.
