Synopsis: Body language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves. Social psychologist Amy Cuddy shows how "power posing" -- standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don't feel confident -- can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.
I watched this TED talk recently and started applying her advice on power postures in the club. (Side note: She shows images of people sitting with their feet on a desk/table. This is not one of the postures I suggest applying.)
The night that I actually watched the talk, I had a pretty good night. My favorite is the "wonder woman" pose when approaching a big group of guys, and standing that way for just a minute or so before sitting down with them. Every time I did it, all eyes were on me, and I got dances with someone from the group each time.
It's pretty long, and kind of a tear-jerker at the end, but I think some of the stuff in it is pretty valuable, even if it is a little bit common-sense-y. It's always nice to have a reminder that CONFIDENCE is the best asset we can have in our hustle bank! Plus I'm a TED Talk whore. I eat this shit up.![]()

It felt like she was saying that just because I needed to hear it. But really everyone feels that way sometimes, so it's great advice anyone could use sooner or later.
Not sure how much she made after, but I got an extra $60 in the last 20 minutes of the night! Woo!
