Yes, Yes, Yes, and more Yes!!!
If a girl can manage to avoid the parasitic jerks who infest the sex industry (the guys who want a 'personal connection', want to 'rescue', who always turn out to be total manipulative, destructive pricks), IT IS ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE.

Background; I'm sure I'm not the only one here, but I have worked in many other industries before I tried sex work.
And in those jobs, I still had to deal with bullshit from men, harassment and sexual pursuit and fake-friendship---all the same bullshit from men that we deal with every day in this business, just slightly more disguised.
And in those jobs, I had to put up with that bullshit from men and try to to do my job IN ADDITION TO all the bullshit from men, for only 8-25$ an hour. I used to come home every day in tears from the confusion created by men in my workplace trying to fuck me and pretending to be my "friends", when all they really wanted to do was fuck me so they could brag/laugh about it later with everyone else in the office.

FastForward to the Sex Industry: Now, yes, I still deal with a lot of petty stupid bullshit from men, BUT, I also have some really wonderful, easy clients too, AND now, dealing with men's bullshit IS MY JOB, so I'm not expected to do another crap job in addition to dealing with the bullshit from men, AND, I make at least 100$ an hour, only work when I want, can have all the sex I want whenever I choose to have it, get high whenever I want, take a day off whenever I want, etc, etc.
This industry is not a bullshit-job to me, I take it very seriously whether the rest of society does or not, and all I have to do is do my best to make other people feel good--sometimes it goes great and sometimes not-so-great, but the money, free time, and other perks are TOTALLY WORTH IT.

I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, and did I happen to mention? I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!

    ...love it!

^^ OH! Great job at describing our industry. Would you agree that the sex industry gives more power to the women involved? I think it makes us LESS LIKELY to be used and abused.

Yes, but with a grain of salt.
A woman who is naturally insecure will let herself be abused whether it's in this industry or in a marriage, and there are PLENTY of guys in this business who can't wait to do the abusing.
But this industry does provide women with a means of empowerment, economic and personal independence, IF SHE IS WILLING TO TAKE IT.
I've known many girls who, no matter how pretty they are or how many great clients they have or how much money they make, still felt a deep insecurity over having a man to LOVE them (which is hilarious, because most married women don't even have a man who truly loves them, IMO), and so were always vulnerable to the pimp-masquerading-as-fiancee`.
    You know the type.

But, yes, if a woman is capable of being empowered, then this business is exceptionally empowering.

uhmmmmm.....I'm not trying to piss on your rainbow or anything, but I'm not a sex worker and I'm pretty darn happy most of the time. But OTOH I guess I'm far from what most would consider a "normal" woman.

Overall I think that the jury's still out on this one.

I'm certainly happier in the adult industry than I've ever been in straight jobs, but there is no standard sex worker and, like any industry, the sex industry isn't going to suit everyone.

I think the study isn't technically very reliable - poor sampling and poor control group selection - but speaking for myself and the packs of women I've known in the sex biz over the last 18 years, I'd say for the most part we ARE healthier and happier than most civilian women. As previously mentioned, this is dependent on the woman not being insecure and easily abused of course, but that type of woman is found everywhere, not just in the sex biz, and that type of woman isn't what anyone would call healthy or happy and they'll be abused by someone no matter what job they do.

A million times yes, for women who aren't easily manipulated or abused, this business is so much more empowering than pretty much any job a young woman can do. There is so much more we can do to make ourselves happy with the time, money and FREEDOM that sex biz affords us.

Oh and we're not likely to get fired for being "too sexy" because the boss' wife is an insecure twat. LOL
