I'd like to get my nipples pierced and am wondering when would be the best time to get them pierced? Right now I am 36 weeks pregnant. And I plan to breastfeed also. Whatcha think.?

I can't stand nipple piercings, so I'd say the best time is never.
Sorry, you asked so I replied honestly--but they are your nipples to pierce or not as you choose, of course.

I'm no doctor.....but piercing your nipples right before you start breastfeeding seems like a HORRIBLE idea..

My midwife told me I had to take out my nipple piercing long before I had my baby. I kept it out all through nursing. I didn't get it redone until a couple of years ago.

Okay, I'm gonna sound like your bossy grandma here, but please listen to your granny now, she loves you, MMMkay?
Granny got dem ol' titties pierced when she was 19, so Granny knows.
Okay, when you have rings in, every guy who sees them will immediately try to clamp his mouth on them like dog going after a chicken bone. You may think that's cool, but lots of men are not terribly clean, especially with their mouths. Even brushing regularly, as casually as most guys do it, is gonna leave LOTS of germs in their mouths. So in addition to the general, typical susceptibility that any piercing has for bacterial infection, you are now extra-susceptible to infections from men's mouths...if you're in a club, men's mouths who frequently put their mouths on strippers and prostitutes... are you feeling me?
I used to let guys put their mouths on me, but the constant titty-irritation and susceptibility to germs just wasn't worth it, too many people have bacteria and even fungal mouth-germs going on.
Last time I got a checkup, asked an std specialist at Planned Parenthood "I won't let guys go downtown because I really think they can carry bacterial infections in their mouths, but do you think that's true?"
She was already nodding before I finished the question and goes "Absolutely, and most people never bother to get checked for it, they'll just get treated for a throat infection if it makes them sick enough."
So I guess a throat-vd doesn't always show up even in a urinalysis..
Also bear in mind that many many women get terrible thrush, fungal, or bacterial infections and brutal irritation of their nipples just from normal breastfeeding, without the added trauma of a new piercing.
If you still want to do it, my advice would be to wait til you're done breastfeeding, be very careful of letting guys touch with their dirty hands or mouths, be careful of infection in general, and always go for medical-grade surgical steel rings, gold and silver can be very irritating to the nipple area even if you aren't allergic to wearing them in your ears.

OMG, lemiwinks, we just posted right next to eachother, and we're both from South Park!
