Dizzy HELP techie ladies! Laptop/Processor/Webcam Questions

Warning-its long, then again, arent my posts/threads always annoyingly the size of a small novel?Alright my loves, heres the story. My parents, bless those wonderful ppl, showed up at my house today with my early Christmas gift- a new laptop!!! Honestly, they don't know what I do,yet.Im not so disillusioned as to fool myself into thinking they wont find out eventually, but Im trying to prolong it as long as I can.Thats for another thread though-onto the point! I am soooo very grateful for my new laptop, especially since I don't exactly come from money, but I have no idea if its really fast or not.I do know ANYTHING is better than that ridiculous piece of shit I was camming on before- it was like 10 yrs old,and I had to rig up a 2 GB flash drive as RAM just to continue to use it.anyways- since they don't know what Im doing, they had no idea that I really needed ATLEAST an I5 processor.I know NOTHING about AMD processors, honestly,I really don't know a lot of the technical stuff about computer anyways.Ill post a link of what they gave me,http://www.target.com/p/gateway-15-6..._sku=14293000& but if you don't want to click on it,ill post the specs here. Its a Gateway NV52L15u and it has Windows 8 64 bit,AMD Quad Core Processor A8-4500M,AMD Radeon HD 7640G graphics card,4 GB DDR3 memory,500 GB HDD storage, and a 1.3 mp HD webcam(1280x1024) .
My questions are (sorry they aren't in bulleted format,I tried to list them like that but it wouldn't let me for some reason)-
1.Is this a fast computer or what you would consider atleast ok for someone that has had a shitty 10 yr old laptop that couldn't run the encoder at all(I could get it running but holy shit, the CPU was at like 98% the entire time and it lagged and froze CONSTANTLY)

2.If you had to make an educated guess, what kind of Intel processor would you equate this one's to? Im not getting my hopes up that its i7 worthy, but ive searched and searched and cant really find a straight answer.is it atleast equivalent to an i3?yea I know they aren't that fast but its like the speed of freakin lightning compared to my old one!

3.Should I expect to run into any unseen problems using my external cam?the internal one is only 1.3 mp even though its supposed to be an HD cam lol I don't have the best external webcam ever but its what Ive got to work with for the moment-its a Logitech C615,its HD and not too terribly bad, although could be much better.Im getting a 9000 the sec I have enough money, dont worry lol Ive read of a lot of ladies having trouble switching from an internal to external, and getting sound to work, etc. If there are any tips, tricks to smoothly transitioning to the external cam,Id be extremely grateful if you made me aware of them.Im excited,i get to finally make clips and open my C4S store to the public, its been sitting there unused bc the quality of the clips were awful!!!

4.Windows 8 is set up pretty much like a tablet, its VERY different.it wants to integrate and sync everything, link everything through social networking etc.uuum,Im a camgirl, the last thing I want to do is associate this laptop with my real identity.Im afraid to link it with my phone,or even my personal email address. Is there anything I need to do to ensure Im not giving custies my private info since this computer is so privy to linking and social networking etc?

5.If this is not even equivalent to an i3 processor,is it worth upgrading the processor as soon as I get a chance? What I mean is,looking at the rest of the specs, are they compatible and good enough for a i5 or 7 equivalent processor or would I need to upgrade other parts of the laptop as well?Wondering if its cheaper to buy a new better laptop in the near future or to upgrade this one (if its horrible, that is)

I apologize for the long thread, and I honestly have tried to look up the answers to these questions but many of the websites and answers are just personal opinions, not hard facts.I knew my girls here would give me what im looking for- yea some of it may be just personal opinion, but considering yall are looking at computers from the same angle I am,I know you will be able to tell me realistically if this is a good enough laptop or not and what to expect.I apologize for such a long thread, although as probably alot of you have figured out,I can be a bit of a talker at times and tend to write more than is really necessary.Thank you sooo much in advance to anyone that takes the time to answer Im so excited but panicked at the thought of switching to a totally new, unfamiliar computer and I def need all the help I can get.

I'll throw in my two cents... your processor speed is on the low end, but quad core is good! I stream from a desktop with an AMD quad core processor and 4GB of RAM and do just fine. Compared to what you had been working with, this one should be like heaven.

I used to use the C615 and I liked it, my only issue was that it couldn't seem to handle lighter colors very well. Try the internal one and see if you like it - it's worth checking out at least.

Your laptop may be able to handle the encoder, it might not, but it's definitely better than what you've been working with so there's a chance of success. (However, if you're on streamate - and it sounds like you are - you may be better off streaming without the encoder until they get their glitches fixed.)

I don't know anything about windows 8, haven't played with it at all - sorry I can't help you there.

    And...
    - I'd say it's at least equivalent to or better than an i3. (That's my educated guess because I don't have time to research an answer at the moment.)
    - Laptops, in general, are not upgradable like desktops are. You can replace the cpu's in some very few models, but with most it's just not a feasible option.

yep might have been helpful to add that im on SM lol thank you for responding!I know, ive been reading all the posts about the encoder issues...That's totally my luck-I get a laptop that can maybe POSSIBLY handle the encoder, but then it starts going nuts I knew earlier in the week something was definitely up bc I had WAY more guys in my room than I normally do(my rm traffic isnt as high as others obviously since I don't use the encoder)Definitely no complaints about the higher traffic, but I absolutely hate that SM is having so many damn problems right now!The hoards seems to have died down some, not great for me especially if I cant use the encoder but I DO NOT like it messing up for everyone else,it screws with not only everyones $$ but will eventually drive traffic away from the site, regardless if youre streaming in HD or not,if it isn't fixed...And so far,it really is like heaven, the difference is AMAZING.I cant complain about a free laptop, even if its not exactly up to par with SM standards,so Im gonna absolutely make the most of it!Ill play around with the encoder tmrw and see what happens,im so excited!Even if I cant use it,i KNOW its going to be sooo much better than what Im used to!

The processor isn't good. I mean, it is tolerable and would be fine for normal computing, but I wouldn't recommend it for camming. The graphics are integrated and poor. I would say this computer will reach the end of its lifecycle in 1-2 years. Meaning it will still be usable, but the new end of software and programs will cause it to seriously bog down.

For now and for free, you can't really beat it if you were previously using a glorified paperweight. And now to answer your other questions:

2.You can search the processor itself here http://www.cpubenchmark.net/laptop.html (ctrl + f once on that page and type A8-4500M). It is ranked in the extremely low end of mobile i7 and the low end of many i5s. Keep in mind that not all i5s and i7s are created equal so whereas this AMD does fall within them, it's falling within the shite end of them. It's alright for now, but you'll start seeing lagging issues if you do too much.

    3. You shouldn't have any problems getting your cam to work unless the manufacturer does not support windows 8. According to the Logitech website the c615 IS compatible

    4. Make a new Windows Live ID if required with dummy information. I've never had an issue with windows 8 trying to sync with all my shit, but you may be using different programs than me

5.You cannot upgrade the processor in that laptop or on 90% of laptops. It's ranked around mid range i3 processors. I would recommend dealing with it for now, but saving up for a legitimate replacement.

Thank you for answering everything!!I just got done camming with the new digs and the encoder and it worked beautifully.my husband watched the entire time from our old laptop and id peak every sooo often, it was crystal clear and never lagged or froze the whole time! CPU was around 40%, could be better but considering how high the other was, ill take it for now.that's exactly what I plan on doing, camming in this laptop til I can save for a better one.man, the sense of relief I feel is overwhelming!!
