If you opt in, you do regular gold shows just like always, but you are broadcast on TV to people who pay for a certain channel.
Even once you opt in, you have to be invited by a "producer" to do a TV show. If you're already streaming, have the encoder set up the correct way, and have your sound on, a producer can send you a request to do a TV show. You can then accept or reject the offer. The goal, countdown length, length of show, and contribution amounts are all chosen for you. You can only pick your room topic.
If you do not make your goal in time, you will still be paid as though you made your goal (the producer will pay the rest). If you reject a lot of shows, they may stop asking you to do it. And the amount of money your earn on your regular gold shows (average) determines the goal set for you when you do a TV show.
The reason that there are different rules is that, being broadcast on TV, the site opens itself to more copyright infringement violations, and they have been required by the TV channel not to allow models to do certain things. For example, if you have products with name brands (like a Coke can, a poster with an ad on it, etc.), you will have to move them out of view. You cannot play music (copyright violation), and you cannot mention the producer, the TV channel you're being broadcast on, or the names of the executives of that channel. Considering how secretive SM is about WHERE you are being broadcast, I imagine that would be difficult
I don't do these shows, so my info is all based on hearing from other models & reading the rules.
If you have specific questions about the TV channel or who pays for what, you may want to PM someone here who has done a lot of these shows.
