Default Do you make more money when you're in a good or bad mood?

So I suppose this can tie in with the phenomena of making more money on days when you don't do your hair or feel fat etc. But for some reason I have shitty nights when I am perky and happy and especially if I do something special for myself that day like a manicure. I feel fantastic, drive into work singing to my favorite songs and find customers are frequently not receptive to me. Now I am a naturally bubbly and a pleasant person, but if I have a day where I'm bummed out about something or dreading going into work, while I'm still polite I'm sure some of that blah feeling carries over into the club. And those nights I do hours in champagne. It's almost like if I'm too happy and bubbly I'm either not taken seriously, come off as immature, or insincere? Or maybe the champagne guys like to feel like they're making my night? I should note that when I've worked at more wanna dance type clubs acting bubbly and borderline silly works much better for me. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems so backwards, but I would love to know what's so appealing to customers about me seeming indifferent and blah and how to replicate this.

If I am in a bad mood, my hustle is off, my voice, my sell, my vision changes, I don't see work, I see/think of whatever is getting to me, whatever is on my mind. It basically screws my whole night's earnings-unless I snap out of it. I have found, surprisingly, the more tired I look the more guys will want a dance- for example, im huffing and puffing from stage and disconnected while I pull myself together- they may not have even seen my stage set but custies will run over and want me for a dance- why because I look busy? I look like others have wanted me, making me work and so they gotta have me to? it's all strange. My over confidence only affects the cocky biggots, everyone else seems to love my good mood, strong sell etc Every customer is different, it's our job to read them and sell accordingly, trial and error and consistency.

I think its because you need to seem genuine. And for some people, if they are in a really good mood and then try to act happy, its overkill because it comes off as fake or trying to hard.

Personally, I have a more timid/reserved personality, so when I was a dancer, I literally had to be in a good mood in order to make money. When I was in a neutral mood, I was told by customers that I looked angry or worried. When, in reality, I was just neutral and not angry or worried at all.

Its all about finding that homeostasis so you seem real and convincing.

I went in yesterday in the most foul mood ever. I walked out with a nice bag o'loot. I had the BIGGEST "fuck off and die" vibe you can imagine. I guess it's all irrelevant when you have big fake tits.

I'd have to guess that I make significantly more when I'm in a good/decent mood than when I'm in a bad mood. If I'm in a bad mood or something is seriously bothering me, it makes it difficult for me to be motivated and to approach customers.

My club doesn't require a schedule so I work whenever I want, and if I'm in a bad mood I usually just skip work. Being there would bother me even more. That's another reason why I usually skip work on the first day of my period.

I think this hits the nail on the head perfectly. I've been trying to come off as less chipper and not so smiley lately, even sitting there looking bored and distracted momentarily. Of course, once he's paying for my time I snap into being super happy and having so much fun.

Some guys do have a sadistic side to them. Many customers really don't believe that we like being in the club having to dance for guys all night long.. ya know like we're forced to or something.. so maybe it's just playing into that. Like oh it's not so bad with this one, wow I can actually enjoy my night for once.

If I have something really bad hanging over my head I wouldn't attempt working. But I'm talking about just feeling blah. At the time I wrote this I was dealing with holiday and family stress.. so nothing serious but it was just draining.

I also wonder if this has to do with your look, too. I've tried to pull off the aloof bitchy girl and it's never worked for me, and I suspect that it's because my facial features are round and friendly looking--being bubbly and girl next door always makes me the most money. Maybe if you have, like, higher cheekbones and fewer freckles than me, being aloof looks better on you. Is that just a totally crackpot theory?

I never made money when I was bitchy. If I couldnt get into my superstripper zone (or if i was sick, tired, cranky) I would take the night off.

I make infinitely more money when I'm in a good mood. I'm gracious and engaging and effervescent and customers can't get enough of me. That's why I can't stand strippers with bad attitudes--if the shift starts off dead, the girls will bitch, bitch, bitch and drag everyone else's mood down, and then when it DOES get busy later, everyone is in too shitty a mood to effectively navigate the customers and make money. When I hear strippers start bitching in the dressing room, I'm like, "BYE," and hightail it out to the bar and sit near the manager (who's our weeknight bartender), where the girls probably aren't going to be bitching (unless they're idiots).

I can't imagine anyone making money in bad mood, in my years of sales it does happen but I bet even more money would have been made in a better mood. I wouldn't want to be around an angry stripper especially as a newbie it'd eff my night up and my mood a little cause that stuff rubs off on me.

There have been the random odd nights where I'm in a bad mood and make good money, actually. I think it's because when I'm in a good mood, I can get really bubbly and waste time with a fun customer or a regular that I know is already maxed out an isn't spending any more money for the evening (I am trying very hard to work on this!).

The other night I got lucky with a guy who was in VIP area alone and said he liked me because I was being a bitch, basically. We bickered the entire time and each time I did a dance he gave me a $50, or $50 split between 2 girls, I'd leave and work the room, come back, repeat cycle, then an extra $150 at the end of the night because he kept saying he'd do a private room and didn't (which actually worked out better anyway). All for being a bitch! Sometimes guys with money are also sadistic bastards. They like to think they're pissing you off!
“The irony of commitment is that it's deeply liberating -- in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around like rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life.”

I wasn't suggesting being angry on the floor or sulking around the dressing room.. Those are almost always a recipe for a broke night. Sorry if it came off that way. When I'm at work its like I have a different life, I dont think about anything that doesn't pertain to making money in that building at that time. I wish I could pull off the bitchy hustle but unless a guy makes it 100% clear he wants that I don't go there.

I did Strip and Grow Rich a few years back, actually because I was having trouble transitioning to my current club. Love the techniques and theories how to identify which approach to take with a customer (colors). My super stripper zone must be a different place at this club. I do find that being bubbly, giggly, and funny works for me in others I've worked in, just not with a lot of the clientele I encounter here.

I'm sure it makes a difference with what's going on with the guy too. If you have someone on vacation to lets say play golf with the guys he's probably more receptive to a different attitude than someone who is entertaining clients that he secretly can't stand and has been stressed all day working while still having to answer calls. I get a LOT more of the second situation. Hmmmmm. I'd be curious to see if things change if I move to a area with more vacationers.

Haha, it could totally be the shape of my face. I have a very angular face. Maybe a runway model-esque pout suits be better. Where as I've met some people who may be extremely happy but if they're not actively smiling you'd think they
    are upset.

I've had nights where I wasn't necessarily in a bad mood, but maybe felt a little self-conscious because I was having a fat day, and I'd go into work and bank, and every last guy was gushing about how I had the "perfect body." Maybe it's the slight hint of vulnerability that so many customers find intriguing and engaging. I wasn't suggesting being hyper and bouncing off the walls will make you money, sorry if it came off that way. The best thing is to tailor your energy level to the customer. A guy who's quiet and a little withdrawn won't likely respond well to you coming over and being loud and giggly and hyper, and a customer who's making a lot of noise and laughing a lot won't likely respond well to a dancer who's quiet but intense.

i think i make the most when i'm in a "dgaf" mood. like on those nights when i don't really need money but have nothing better to do so i go to work but don't even bother putting my lashes or cute little matching outfit on, just slap on any old bra and thong and head to the club. i always do well those nights. seems like when i put too much effort into my appearance and am too hyped up/bubbly it just backfires on me. being in a bad mood never helps my money either though, i guess maybe it's good to be somewhere in the middle.
