I do too. If I was them I would ask for my meal to be comped.

I think they did exactly the right thing. According to the column, they did speak with a manager who was smirking and initially offered them a 25% discount, and when they didn't agree that would fix things he upped the offer to a 50% discount. Getting the meal comped would not resolve the underlying issue that the male staff at this rest are in a desperate need of customer training and sensitivity training. If the manager can act the way he did, it is obvious why the server would feel ok with putting that onto the receipt.

and how not to get tipped 101.....
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

I think part of it is that making fun of fat people is acceptable. I will admit that I have done that myself and it is wrong. I wouldn't put "fat girls" on a check but I might have said something like "look at the fatties I am serving". However I wouldn't have done it anywhere near the customers.

In the server's defense, they are pretty fat.
I saw that article which linked me to an even worse article ...

I am so damn sick of some people thinking that fat people are the most disgusting things on earth and that we are not real people. I am in the process of losing weight because of health reasons but even before I was fat I never made fun of fat people or anyone for that matter. I was raised to NOT talk about other people in a demeaning way and I think that those who do make fun of how other people look are pathetic losers.
Oh and let me add that I was put of medication and the doctor said that extreme food cravings was a potential effect so people need to realize that not all fat people are lazy cows that like to graze of food all day.

Yeah, I read it on yahoo. Whelp, that's how you get fired right before the Christmas season lol.
Servers do this kind of stuff all the time to distinguish between tables, the mistake was only in letting them see it.
"Well done. Here are the test results: You are a horrible person. I'm serious, that's what it says: 'A horrible person.' We weren't even testing for that."

Not to spark outrage, but I kind of understand it- Think about it- When you're camming, don't guys just become "anal guy" or "proud-of-his-cock" guy? They do, to me. I mean, they're people and they have feelings, but after being in the service industry for so long, the faces and feelings just kind of blur together, so you pick out a distinguishing factor to identify them by.
This guy definitely could've picked out a different identifying thing though- he knows the customer sees the bill and that there was a chance they would see it.
I mean, I don't call "proud-of-his-cock" guy that to his face, or even mutter it under my breath. It's just bad taste.
It's not acceptable at all, its just that people are going to do it even if it is wrong and hurtful. While I never made fun of fat people I will admit that before I got fat I used to think that if fat people would just exercise more and eat less they would lose weight. But now since it's me trying to lose weight I see it's not that easy at all. Still, I would never make fun of anyone that's fat.

Of course they still do it. Years ago when I was much bigger I was walking down the street and some guys yelled out from their car "HIPPO". Honestly I don't see the humor in that at all. What's so funny about a fat person? Honestly those that make fun of fat people are themselves insecure and feel inadequate. They can say that's not true all they want but that's what I think and I will always feel that way. And yea I've seen the no fatties comment on dating sites before, just like particular races that don't want to date their own race....to each his own, I could care less.

I will save any politically incorrect input I have, but there's a logical reason this happened.
Someone took their order who was too busy to punch it into the computer. that person then told another employee to punch it in, said something like "the table of fat girls wants 3 tritip sandwiches, 2 cokes and a sprite" and the one who punched it in didn't realize it would appear on the final check. he may have been new and unfamiliar with the table numbers.
Faced with three pissed off chicks, I would have asked them, "If you were new to working here, and wanted to get a party's order punched in quickly so they would get their food as quickly as possible, how would YOU describe your table?"
The women are really milking this situation, as if being called fat (which all three of them clearly are, and the article even includes a picture of them which is truly just to demonstrate that they ARE, the picture is literally just a visual aid for readers to see "oh yeah, well they are fat") is such a terrible traumatizing insult.
They must not be cam girls, because I've been called terrible things and never made it into a news article.
