    Default Keeping things in perspective...

School shootings and high profile massacres in general are all the rage these days with nut jobs and the media, who fuel each other to ever greater heights (don’t think for a second the two are not interrelated as the massive media attention propels these people due to the nature of their psychosis.Regarding the media, no single entity fuels the fire for these types of acts to happen. A scary and telling vid to watch on that:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=PezlFNTGWv4), which begs the question; what was worst violence ever of this nature? VT Tech maybe?

45 people, mostly children, were killed and 58 were injured when disgruntled and demented school board member Andrew Kehoe dynamited the new school building in Bath, Michigan out of revenge over his foreclosed farm due in part to the taxes required to pay for the new school. When was that? May 18, 1927. No guns involved:

There are many modern examples where far more people killed using low tech devices, such as 87 people killed in NY using a few $$$ worth of gasoline in 1990, the "Happy Land" Fire.

But wait, things are worse than usual right? I mean, school violence is at epidemic levels these days right? Bullets flying everywhere right!? The media is covering that right? Err, no: What the media does not tell you, is the fact school violence is down and has been going down for some time:

These shootings make for great media ratings and for brain washing people into focusing on the evils of guns, but dropping crime rates don't make for ratings or hysterics...It may be all the rage right now for some disenfranchised youth (or what ever you want to call them) to walk into a school - you know, one of those “gun free zones” - and kill as many as possible, but trends in violence have always existed, and always will, so keep it in context people.

But wait, this type of stuff didn’t happen when we were kids right? Human beings have very short memories and we tend to look at “the good old days” through a selective mental lens when times were easy and all that, but that simply is not the case. Some things are worse, some things are better, but these types of violent acts have been going on a long time, with overall crime rates much higher in past decades. An incomplete list follows.

Guess what, we are still here, things are, for better or worse, the way they always were, or should say, the more they change the more they stay the same. Or as Mr. Natural would say “It Twas Ever Thus!”

Don’t let the media convince you otherwise. Pass this around perhaps so that others can get some perspective over what they see every day via the ratings hungry media…
