    Default Some friendly advice? Anyone?

    Hello

My name is E, er Camri. And, I have just submitted my application and am good-to-go for camming. And, I have a few questions for you girls out there who have been doing this awhile. I am 39 years old and although my 'gorgeous' days are albeit over, I am somewhat good looking. 3 kids (1 of which was a c-section) kinda did me in and I could probably work on my mid-section a little, ok a lot but other than that I am "ok" looking for an older woman. And, here is my dilemma I am petrified about getting on cam. P.E.T.R.I.F.I.E.D. My day job is in public relations and have no problem talking to people clothed but camming is a whole new animal. Usually I am pretty fearless but my question is this. What am I going to expect when I finally log on? Should I be clothed? What should I wear? What kind of customers should I expect to be on there? How long does it take for people to take you into chat? Should I expect to start playing with myself right away? lol. How can I get over my fear? I have a great job but I have recently become a single Mom and I really need another source of income till child support goes through. Also, I plan on doing some of this from my office. I figure some guys would be into the 'professional, cougar' type right? Also, when you block certain areas, does that work? I would DIE if someone I knew saw me naked, seriously. That would be the worst. Anyway, some advice would be helpful Thanks!

    Hey Carmen,

    Thanks for your nice words

I applied to . (Oh, wow, it won't let me post the name of the site for some reason. internet modeling dot com. I guess they just put you wherever? I have no clue. I did check out mygirlfund though. My issue is, I need to block a certain state as I deal with a lot of clients at any given time. So, that would not be a no-go for me. How long have you been doing this for? Do you make pretty decent money?

That site is a studio. Do not sign up through them. They will take a percentage of your earnings for no reason. Check out this thread so that you can sign up for the sites directly.

I would post more but I'm actually working. Just wanted to tell you to avoid that site.

    Hi Camri,

I am 41 years old and I am happy with my success camming. Actually I would not have been able to pull this off when I was younger because I was too insecure. I realize now how silly that was.

I would not let age or anything else stop you. I get more younger guys than older ones as customers, and the younger ones are damn cute sometimes! They like to be seduced by an "older" woman (older to them, haha).

You will probably find that when you turn your cam on, you will realize that you are in control of the situation after all. Maybe it's stage fright that's keeping you worried? Stage fright goes away for many people once they are onstage performing. The beauty is, you can just log off if things get too scary. Confidence is key, so don't go online if you are feeling intimidated or the guys will pick that up.

Traffic turns over fast. If you feel like you "flopped" for some reason, just log off and try again later or the next day. Everyone has good days and bad days.

Don't do anything for free. You don't have to give in to their requests unless they are tipping you or in a private show. Watch out for loudmouths - they are the biggest freeloaders and manipulators *usually*. Smile a lot. Look into the camera.

Definitely please don't lowball your rates. Charge a middle of the line rate since you are new and you can raise it from there.

Good luck!! The ladies here are great for support and cheering you on!

I am a very shy person in real life, and I find that camming was to me like a lot of other jobs were on my first day. Hesitation, wondering if I'm doing it right, do I look okay, what exactly do the other girls do, what am I supposed to do? What it all really boils down to is though, you have to find what works for you. This could happen on your first night of work, or it could take you a bit to find your "groove." The first hour or two is always a little nerve wracking, but once I have my first show and ease into it, I relax and have a good time.

I've always found too (this might not always be the case, but it can be) that there are some customers that LOVE being told that you are a little nervous, and you're just starting out. They will be nice, and really supportive and just let you do your thing and enjoy it. Just don't let them think that your nervousness is you being naive - you still own the show and what you're doing.

If you're doing standard 'vanilla' shows, stripping down and going to town, make it fun and sensual. Tease the customer, take your clothes off slowly. Every minute counts, and while you don't want him to think you're a sloth, you don't want the internet's equivalent to wham, bam, thank you ma'am. Usually the first 1-2 minutes of the show is just some talking and teasing, 3-5 minutes dancing and doing a strip, then I get into the fun stuff around the 4-5 minute mark. As far as what you wear, that again is your preference. Some girls wear their normal clothes, some girls wear outfits, some do a mix of both. I wear whatever I feel like that day. Well, I won't be on cam in my flannel sushi pajamas, but if I'm wearing a cute tank top that shows some cleavage, and a pair of shorts, I'll own it. If I feel like putting on my black tassel teddie, I'll do that. In the end, as long as you look good and feel good, that will shine through on cam and men will eat it up.

When you first start, you could start with an instant bam, or it might take awhile to build up. Just put the time and effort into, and it will pay off. Just watch out for the freeloaders (stand for me bb, plz), scammers (show me your tits then i tip!) and just plain assholes. And if you ever have any questions, do a search here or ask! These girls are bad ass and even though I haven't been a member long, I've been on SW long enough and a camgirl long enough to know a great majority of them (boy, don't I sound creepy ).

    Hi Camri,

I just saw that you are with IM.com.

Before you start camming, as in before you go online even one time, please please please cancel your IM account and go to Streamate.com and sign up directly through that website. IM does absolutely nothing but take money from you--I am still stuck there but I am in the process of leaving. Once you cam for the first time you are hamstrung and it will be really hard to undo everything.

For every $100 made, you will only get $20 of that if you stay with IM. If you sign up as an independent with Streamate.com, you will get to keep $35 of the $100. This really adds up fast, fast, fast.

IM claims they help with placement but this is not true. They really just take $$ and do nothing much in return.

Definitely don't worry about your age at all- older women are HUGELY popular. Just think of the glamorous MILF thing. Custies absolutely LOVE it. I'm sure you ARE in fact gorgeous.

    1. Definitely be clothed, wear something you are comfortable and pretty in but that is also easy to get off (corsets are a little hard to remove, haha). I usually wear a tank top, panties, maybe some stockings and garters.
    2. Also don't worry about your problem areas (stretchmarks, etc.) I've never found anyone to notice them, but if they bother you a lot, hide your tummy or wear a little coverup on the places you are self-conscious about.
    3. I understand how you feel. Most of us were terrified our first day. I turned my whole computer off when I got a private, I was so scared, haha. Waiting for people to take you into chat depends on how good you are at teasing (without actually teasing enough for them to wank and leave) if that makes sense. Over time you will get more comfortable, I promise. You will also develop your own style and way of dealing with customers. Definitely take your time to get naked, strip, put on a show, etc. Don't waste time, but don't rip your clothes off in your nervousness. I used to do that, and it cost me quite a bit of money. Start your rates off HIGH, and act like you're worth it, even if you don't believe it. Remember that you are the sexiest lady alive, and they are all there to see YOU. Don't take bullshit, control your room, don't let it control you.

    4. Geoblocking DOES work but there are exceptions, as with everything. My advice is that if you don't ever want someone you know to see, don't take the risk. There is always a chance that it could happen. It hasn't happened to me in 3 years, but it could at any time.

Depends what site u registered for?
first thing id say if that since u dont want to be recognised make sure u look completely different. go over the top on makeup and wear a wig, change ur accent, invent a new name and location even lie about ur age and dont give away details like "i have 3 kids and i worked in public relations"... be Betty-Sue 1 kid and worked as an artist ... for example. This will surely put off any1 who "thinks" they know u in real life.
dont show up naked. i am always nervous when starting on a new site, im shy and clumsy, but after a day or two i act like i own the place. turn off guest/basic chats, they r all assholes and will type rude and degrading things if u let the little rats type. they have no money so ignore them. if they wanna chat 2 u they will buy premium. how long till u get a private? sometimes i get 1 within a minute.. sometimes an hour, so cant really say.

Also I just wanna say that if u pile on the makeup... like cake it on... u might look like a hideous clown in real life, but this doesnt show on webcams, i find the more i cake on the more flawless i look on camera. its like the camera feels sorry for me, i look so bad i cant answer the frontdoor to the postman whilst i got my 'face' on. i dont look anything like me, and contouring works too i gave my self a makeup nosejob. i also have a distinguishable shaped nose from the side, i've been camming 2 years and never turned my face sideways because of this and it aint hard to do.

Thank you girls for all the great feedback! After reading the thread, I immediately registered for an account on SM. (Well, I have to upload my forms tomorrow). Anyone know how long the process will take? It took over a week with the other site. And, I definitely won't be camming with them if it's hard to get out of it. At any rate, I feel so much better knowing that everyone is so supportive and helpful. Annie, your post had me laughing. I can almost picture you with a 'straight' face. Too funny. I did go look at wigs today. But, OMG, they are like 100 bucks! I may have to invest in one I guess, in the future. My kids and I talk British in the stores, so maybe I'll research some cool little british towns. Flaminia, I can relate to the not feeling so secure. I feel more secure now than I did in my 30's. Anyhoot, thank you, thank you, thank you everyone for the support. Much appreciated!

yea geoblocking isn't really going to work...It really only works for Streamate.com themselves. They have 500 gazillion white label sites though and most of those will show you as well as the cammodels link that you will get from Streamate-my husband watches me in free chat on mine all the time, while hes in the living rm.

The truth is,theres no way that ANY website could ever truly offer 100% guaranteed geoblocking...and you WILL eventually be found out by someone...everyone always says its not IF you will get found out,but WHEN...Decide if you can live with that reality,bc even if someone doesn't find you right away, you WILL get recorded and someone you know is eventually going to run across that video, even yrs later.Im not thrilled about it either, but Ive also come to the conclusion that until family/friends start paying my bills and every single thing I spend $$ on,they have no right to tell me what I do is "wrong".Unless of course, they take up all my expenses and start paying all my shit!

But this is also why I wear a disguise on cam .I don't use my real name, location, age,or hair lol.and if you are still worried that they may recognize you through your disguise, always remember that they have to PROVE that its you!!! DENY DENY DENY DENY! and if someone keeps confronting you or ppl you know IRL,swearing they've seen you on cam, then act horrendously offended that theyd ever suggest such a thing..."how DARE you insinuate I masturbate for money,on live camera on the interwebz of all places! Don't think that Im unaware of what defamation, public slander and mental anguish are good sir! I know my rights and I haz my lawyer on speed dial!"

Remember-its not WHAT they know, its if they can PROVE it.

Don't take this the wrong way,but you need to do WAAAAAAAAY more research first mama.I read for hrs here every day for 6-8 mths before I even started camming. Its sooo much more complex than I ever realized, its a damn hard, demanding job and it takes ALOT of know how to be successful in it.So before you just plunge in,you need to go read ALOT of the threads here,I cannot emphasize this enough!!

Heres a cple to start with (plz read them all carefully/all the way through, then use the search function to find other threads to answer more of your ??? youll have more as soon as these are answered, believe me)

Don't just sign up with Streamate, but CANCEL with the studio ASAP! SM has a strict Studio policy, so make sure you go through with that. Also, read through TONS of the threads on here, especially the ones linked! They will help you, you will gain SO much knowledge! My best advice before camming is to DO YOUR RESEARCH! READ THIS WHOLE FORUM! It is WORTH the time you will spend, it will save you time, mistakes, sweat, blood, tears, and MONEY!

Hi there, I'm a bit of a newbie myself, but welcome! Restating what many girls have said above, geoblocking doesn't work.

For the wig deal, go to a weave shop. They have wigs for like 15 bucks.

For disguising with makeup, go to youtube and watch some tutorials on contouring. It makes a huge difference. One of my faves for disguising/completely altering yourself: http://www.youtube.com/user/dope2111?feature=g-high-c

Drug store makeup will suffice. You don't need to break the bank to get started. Also, as far as "sexy clothes" go to a discount store. The outfit I get the most compliments on cost me 10 dollars total. That's a sexy nighty, an under bra (gives me bigger cleavage lol), and a thong.

Please, please, please, DO NOT listen to the guys trying to tell you that you'll make more money once you get naked in free and that everyone does it. THEY DO NOT! The guys telling you this are normally basics or premiums with no tokens (in my experience) and all they want is a free show. Your body is worth more than showing it off for free.

This forum has so much information it is absolutely the only way I have made any money at all. I read it CONSTANTLY. Like every second I have to myself. You can use the search feature if you have questions you haven't been able to find answers to. If (like myself haha) you have trouble using the search feature, there is the general chat button at the bottom and the girls here have always been super helpful! Don't be afraid to ask questions!

Also, to avoid some beginning confusion, studios = bad. MFG = mygirlfund, SM = stream mate, MFC = myfreecams, c4s = clips4sale, and many, many more lol. The names were confusing for me at first, so I figured I'd help you there. Also, some sites work better for different people. Don't get discouraged! You'll find where you fit!

Ah, also, I have a REALLY bad c section scar and stretchmarks on my stomach and sides from having a baby also. I am VERY concientous about the way that I lay and my positioning on cam. You can use scar makeup also if it bothers you that much. I plan on getting it pretty soon.

Good luck!! And remember, read, read, read!! =)

Ok, so let me get this straight...

I have to cancel with IM before I go to work at SM? Will SM know I am affiliated with IM? Can't I do both? So hard up for cash right now and I have half a mind to say fuck it to SM and just do IM tonight. I haven't gotten a wig yet, although I did get a sexy nightgown. Nightgown? God, I am old. On an upside. And, I have to share this with someone because I haven't and it's killing me. The other night, my sisters ex boyfriend (they've been split up for 2 years) texted me out of the blue and he was totally hitting on me, like full force. He's 23, and I am 39. Both in our primes. Does NOT make for a good mix morally or ethically but my hormones were a-ragin and one thing led to another and he came over and well, you know...I guess I am officially a MILF or Cougar. Kinda does something for the ego, I gotta say. It was awesome. HA. Just had to share. Thanks for listening and thank you girls so much for the feedback. I did get a chance to do a little 'research' and hung out in some rooms the other night. I guess the goal is to make enough money for a gold show? I'm gonna pop on again tonight and try and get some ideas. Thanks again chickaboo's

It took me over a year to get on cam. I was 47 when I first started camming. I kept thinking about it and bought some stuff for it. I went through depression. I had more weight on my body. I just went through a tough divorce. I ended up as a single mom struggling to make ends meat. I was let go from a part time job that paid $8.50 an hour lol. Guess what? I found SW and I got the nerve to go on cam and it was the best thing I ever did. All the information about camming is on this site. I work my own hours, can take off whenever I want. I am in the milf, cougar catagory. Although I do get older customers too. Like Nike says "Just do it!"

I'm 31. Two kids, two C-sections. I take good care of my body and don't exactly look 31 but if I don't use proper lighting or wear makeup, I look old. So just use good lights and I don't suggest foundation but use tinted moisturizer and physicians formula powder and bronzer. Avoid hair sprayed blow out looks.

As for your content, if you think something is 'nasty' don't do it. You are your own biggest critic. If any of your content ever comes out, being able to answer to it without shame is your own greatest personal tool. No amount of money is worth secretly thinking what you are doing is skeevy.
