Default Newbie wants to say hi and ask your opinion :)

I've been lurking here for months, now I think it's time to say hi and thank you for all the precious advices
I'm not new to camming, but I quit two years ago. I used to work on european sites... now I'm going to start again but I want to try american sites like MFC and SM.
I'm already registered on MFC, sadly there is something that stops me from jumping there right now... my internet connection is slow. I mean, *really* slow. It's usually 0,5 mbps upload, a little bit more in its luckiest moments I can't upgrade it because I live with my parents at the moment and they refuse to change operator or something, even if I offer to pay the bill myself (they already changed a couple times this year...), so I have to work with what I have for the next months.
It's never been a problem on the sites I used to work... internet connection is usually slower in Europe I think, so the customers are used to it... But I'm afraid that if I start on MFC like this, I will fail miserably and my score will eventually drop down and down until I will be in the very last row of the last page of the site and my room will be empty forever
What would you do in my place? Should I wait till I will be on my own and have a better connection? I just don't want to fuck my chances of doing well on MFC and the other main sites...

A happy welcome to SW my dear! I hope you find a lot of help and support here for all of your plans.

When you say your upload speed is 0.5, is that 0.05? Or 0.50? Sorry if that seems like a silly question, but it makes all the difference. I myself have upload speed (taken right now) of 0.51 mbps. I have still done well on SM and MFC alike despite my poor upload speeds though. And so, if your upload speed is around 0.50, you should be fine for MFC. SM gets a little trickier because they require higher speeds to support the use of the encoder they advise performers to use to better increase the quality of their stream and improve the performers placement on the site. But it's still entirely possible to cam on SM without the encoder.

I'd say give SM a try first. The reason I advise SM first is to test the waters without putting your MFC "New Model" placement in jeopardy (because you will definitely want to make the most of this temporary tag put on you when you start to get yourself off to the best start). Perhaps try to use the encoder just to see how it goes (there HAVE been nights where I've actually been able to use the damn thing without it messing up, booting me off, flicking black, slowing down or disconnecting me! But those times have been rare).

Incantatious, thanks for the reply and the welcome
I meant my speed is 0.50. I'm so glad to know that it's not too slow!

About SM - I though that a slow connection would be a problem there even more than on MFC, and I've read so many complaints about tech issues... it really makes it look so hard if your connection is poor and all your cam experience comes from sites with no frills Good to know that I was wrong... I see it works so well for many ladies here - it has its cons, but it pays off.
I think I'm going to register on SM and start with it, so that I won't have to jump from two years of no camming to the crucial *new model* period on MFC
