Default a blonde debating going brunette

I have been blonde my whole life, as a kid naturally, and now my hair is dark blonde that lightens out with sun, i've had highlighted, and now is just bleached platinum. I'm getting bored, and also starting to think the "blonde" phase of my life might just be...over. I'm annoyed with all the unwanted attention and unwarranted judgements, and I did a research paper on the topic that proved I am not crazy--people do really treat blondes differently. Whether the stereotype is unintelligent, promiscuity, or otherwise, they are almost all negative. I'll recognize the positives of being platinum at work--because I'm sure they're there, hello, you literally GLOW, how can that not be an income booster? But I don't want to keep my hair a certain colour just for work...

I'm interested in what life might be like as a brunette. But a lot of people I talk to warn me that most blondes end up going back, and that it's very hard and annoying to go from dark hair back to light hair. Opinions?

I'm a fan of darker hair. I am also on the "get rid of the bleach" journey, although I am electing to go natural, and am therefore growing the bleach out (5cm of dirty blonde roots so far, ach!). I say that you should do what makes you happy! It's not the hair that sells, it's the confidence and the happiness!

I'm a natural dark brunette and am blonde now. I've been blonde several times through out the years. I find that people find me more attractive as a blonde because it makes my features look soft + I look more approachable. I make like 3x more money in the adult industry as a blonde than I did as a brunette. I don't necessarily get more attention as a blonde, but people are a lot nicer to me. But I get taken more seriously as a brunette. Wayyyy more seriously. The attention with each is just... different. Its like I'm a sexual goddess as a blonde, and I'm smart as a brunette. Totally the stereotype. Both have their pros and cons.

As a brunette, I get more culty guys chasing after me- those into the dark hair light eyes combo, but usually the guys are more... loyal? They fetishize me more because ~*I have their fetish*~ (dark hair light eyes), so they're more likely to hold on to the relationship for dear life. You will probably attract a different type of guy with dark hair. I also don't look white or I look mixed with dark hair though. Everyone and their mother thinks I'm Persian or Arabic with dark hair. With blonde hair, I look white. That probably has something to do with it, sadly.

I also feel like, with very light blonde hair, a guy would be more reluctant to bring you home to meet his mom. Because light blonde hair is practically having like green hair. It gives off a certain impression. Its sexual. Its like bringing a girl with really big boobs home to mom. I think it might be... a little awkward? Although, if you naturally have light blonde hair, it might not look so awkward. It just depends on the girl. So I feel like that is also something big to think about.

I swear I'm not making it up, boyfriends have noticed this, my mom has noticed this.

^I believe you, that's a huge reason I want the change, I am*that* girl with the huge boobs to match my platinum hair...I feel like the boobs would be a lot easier to pull off and not attract as much negative attention in my everyday life if i had darker hair. And it's a hell of a lot easier to change my hair than to change my boobs. I also should have mentioned in a few months I'm going to be graduating uni and possibly looking for a job in my field, or fulltime launching my own business so being taken more seriously definitely fits with where I am in my life atm. I also have noticed that people in general seem very confused by me. Multiple friends have said they thought I was some dumb bimbo before they got to know me, and my personality is NOTHING like they thought it would be. I don't want to toot my own horn but in general, I know my shit. I read a lot and can have and ENJOY to have intellectual conversations on a variety of topics. I notice a lot of people seem surprised and/or turned off by this, and I get it, it's not their thing, they thought I would be a shallow party girl and they didn't sign up for the critical thinking express...I'm also thinking that dark hair might attract more of the kinds of people I would get along with easier, both as friends as for dating too.

I totally get what you mean about the dark hair light eye combo fetish, I know a looot of guys especially around my age that like that. And I do have light eyes. Do you girls think the dark hair with light eyes combo would fare better at the club? It's so popular in the dating scene right now I'd imagine it must be at least somewhat popular in the club?

I did this..I was the blonde with the big boobs who wasnt taken seriously..I went darker and I believe I seem more approachable now...Sometimes platinum blonde barbie type image just isnt the right fit..Especially if u r intelligent, which is my case and prolly the case of the OP. I say hands down go slightly darker gradually so its isnt such a shock to say go from platinum to a dark brown--dont do that..Just go with a dark blonde color over platinum..Dont jump all the way from platinum to dark brown thats too drastic imho...I know many girls bank on the blonder the better but for me Im tired of the blonder the less intelligent...I appreciate being taken more seriously.

That is my problem too. I swear I'm asked a million times "when are you going to go back to school???" (I graduated lol) as blonde, and I was never asked that as a brunette. People tell me I look like a party girl so all those types flocks to me (ugh) and the homebodies run when they see me because I don't look like that (lol).

No, you will probably make wayyyyy more as a blonde in the club. Dark hair looks harsh or unnoticeable under strip club lights. Same with eye color for the most part, its too dark to see it. Stripclub = hair + body and nothing much else matters physically IMO. Camming & porn = face really matters & hair color is important, body not so much (there's a niche for everything). But blonde still seems to sell better for some reason.

well you're bored so why the heck not?

I bleached my hair just because I was borer and had done black and red, and I just chopped off ten inches just because. We're so lucky because wigs and extensions are so normal for us so why not?Go brown or black and see what happens. Worse case scenario you go back to blonde eventually.

Why not try a wig on before you do anything too drastic?

I get a lot of customers who really dig it. Not a shift goes by where someone isn't entranced by how light my eyes are, and I bet they wouldn't look as light if I didn't have dark hair. But if you're annoyed by unwanted attention outside the club, this look still gets you some. I went on two separate job interviews not too long ago and had the interviewers commenting on my eyes. People in the streets or in a shop will stop and just stare and comment on them. It's annoying, though I'm sure less annoying than the more noticeable blonde hair, especially when coupled with the perceptions people have of blondes. People don't really assume anything about me for having dark hair and light eyes, as far as I know.

This saved me from going blonde and looking totally washed out, so please do try on a wig or two. And go darker in stages so you're not "stuck" with a dark colour you're unhappy with or struggle with getting your blonde back.

Hmmmmm, well I think that you should do what you feel is right. From my prespective though, I am naturally very dark brown, have been all my life, when dancing I used a blonde wig and noticed that i made more money. In real life being dark brown did not work for me, I recently went blonde and noticed that I got treated more normal so to speak. I am european middle eastern with pale skin, I have baby features, when have ing black long hair, I seemed to attract controlling loners or men often of white trash demeanor, low on the food chain so to speak. The only attention I got was unwanted stakeri-sh,pushy aggressive behavior. I also got controlling men. I think it was because they thought I was from somewhere else and could take advantage . Now being blonde and seeing the men that usually would have baited me, not give me a second look, or just turn their head to the other side whenI was walking by. This brakes my heart that we live in such a shallow society. I am staying blonde! Do what you feel is right for your environment and life. You can always wear a wig in the club! I am sure you look fantastic in both colors.

    Hi Odette
I understand what your saying, but I think your overall look and the way that you carry yourself is classy. But if you feel like a change then I think you would look great with a very rich brown colour to bring out your eyes!

blonde will almost always make easier money, unless you look significantly hotter with dark hair.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

Thanks for all the tips ladies! I've decided I'm going to try a warm medium brown, this is my last semester of uni so I have a little bit of a student loan safety net incase it doesn't turn out well or I don't do well with it at work. And after xmas break I won't have time to work a lot anyways, and there's no way I would dye my hair dark in the summer, so now is kind of the perfect time to try it! Since I'm going darker I was hoping to try to do it by myself (also home for the holidays and very bored lol...and without my usual hair stylist...who is my roomie, so I figure if I fuck it up really badly he can just fix it for me when I get home).

From what I understand since I'm platinum I need to put a red filler in my hair first...my roots are a dark blonde, do I need to do anything to them? (assuming no) I also know NOT to use a high-lift dye as my hair is already bleached...I am very fair so I was thinking a level 4, a level 3 at the darkest. Thanks for the tip about black tempest...note to self to stay away! I am thinking demi-permenant so it will fade out by summertime, when I plan to just go back close to my natural hair colour with highlights...very beachy and nice for summer any suggestions?

I was a bleached blonde all over and I went with a level 7/8 neutral...Going from a bleached blonde which is like a level 12/13 if it exists lol to a 4/3 is way too drastic and dark imho...A 7/8 is a safer bet. Just my opinion though and Im not a color expert..Just a regular female.

I think you'd make a good redhead. Like, a deep auburn red, not an orangey red. Think Emma Stone.

It's still dark brown but with red undertones so in some light it looks like a dark blue red almost I think.

And. I LOVE how it turned out! It looks really really pretty, but in a completely different way then before. I don't feel less attractive, so I don't think work should be an issue, in all honesty I kind of wish I did this a long time ago!

For anyone who might be wondering I used a level 4/5 "mahogany chestnut brown" by the brand ice cream, with 10 volume developer. I actually ended up skipping doing the red first, it turned out I didn't need it and if I did my hair would have come out waaaaay more red than this, as in more red than brown. That's an important thing to mention incase some other girl in the same sitch finds this thread in the future. DO A STRAND TEST. I'm really glad I did, because I couldn't chose between two shades and logic would have had me chose the lighter one (a 6/7). Instead I bought both, and a red, tested the 4 options and saved myself a whole head of what would have been the wrong colour hair had I skipped that step.

I'm going to wait till after I wash it once to decide if I'm going to get it toned...there may be just a bit too much purply red in there...but I know that the blue chroma fades out of hair fastest so perhaps it will fix itself!

Thanks for all the advice ladies, I'm very happy with the collaborative results
I really like the red on u....The blonde w dark roots sometimes can look white trashy..I know many think blonde is better..but i dont really agree(and Im a blonde lol)...I think this red makes u look glamorous
