    Smiley Keeping us camgirls healthy throughout flu months...

    I thought this thread would be a good idea to help keep us girls in optimum health throughout the wintery months!

    Did you know that a big reason flu is so common during Winter is due to the fact that people stay indoors more, thus helping germs spread between people more easily? I figured that because we, more than any other sex worker, stay in our homes / bedrooms to do our jobs, this thread would be best suited for our section.

    Here are some ways I am helping prevent myself from getting ill this Winter. Of course feel free to add your tips and advice! :3

    - Frequently wash your hands.
    I wash mine after having gone out somewhere, (touching the buttons / screen on ATM machines, handling cash / touching cashiers hands, touching escalator rails, all have a lot of germs because they are touched so many times a day), and of course after having used the toilet. Below is a picture of how best to wash your hands. I know it looks stupidly complex the first time you see this, (it did to me anyhow!), but it becomes completely 2nd nature after a while, and it's hella worth it because just doing this goes a long way in helping you stay flu-free!

    Something that should be noted however, is that excessive use of anti-bacterial hand washes can actually be damaging in the long run because the natural helpful bacteria on our hands actually helps prevent illnesses by it's very nature. So basically, we want to make sure we just don't over-do the use of those anti-bacteria washes.



    - Drink green tea.
    I drink at least 3 cups of pure green tea a day, because it's not only extremely good for you, but it also helps calm anxiety, nerves and worry. I feel distinctly calmer after even so much as my first sip. <3 The purer the green tea the better, although if you absolutely hate the taste, you can get green teas with additional flavours like fruits or honey to take the edge off.

    - Eat 5 portions of fruit & veg a day.
    I'm a huge fan of oranges, bananas, broccoli and berries in particular. If you find this hard, also keep a look out for other foods (like ravioli!) that have tomato sauces in - that also counts!

    - Keep a stash of meds / lemsips / vapour rubs etc close at hand for if you do catch flu.
    There's nothing worse than being ill and having to venture out in the cold, wild, rain or snow to get this shit, and coming home feeling even worse.

    I love drinking green tea, I drink kukicha (green tea twig) because it has a little less caffeine and I try to buy organic since I drink so much. I also take B complex vitamins. It really helps me stay positive and more focused. Oh, but it will make you're pee yellow as haale. Like seriously yellow because of the excess but it will change back once you stop taking it.

    Exercise is also important for staying well and warding off cold and flu, or at least lessens the duration. I try to do 30 mins of yoga a day. My bf brought home a shitty cold from his job and I haven't gotten nearly as sick as I would have if I didn't take a few preventative measures.

    If I start feeling under the weather, I use ginger. Ginger and garlic in stir fry, ginger drinks from the Asian market, candied ginger, ginger slices in hot water with honey and lemon. I prefer it to echinacea and I feel it works better

    Great thread idea!!

    For me, prevention is KEY - once I start getting sick, I am screwed, especially as I am violently allergic to most cold medications - they bring mw out in a full body itchy rash. Its worse than the cold!!

    1. Get good sleep. Sleep is when your body works to repair itself, so you need quality and quantity!! 6-8 hours a night, and make sure that you are sleeping WELL - use earplugs and an eyemask if you have to, try not to go to bed drunk (or even tipsy), turn off screens (tv and computer) for an hour before bed, and try to set up a routine for before bed to start to wind down your brain. I like to read a book, have a cup of chamomile tea, and do some breathing exercises.

    2. Eat healthily, with lots of veggies, especially green veggies! Iron and antioxidants....eat your spinach! Also make sure that you are eating enough protein..

    3. Eat lots of onion and garlic - they are awesome immune boosters. Garlic spinach is amazing.

    4. Echinacea. Lots of people just use it after they get sick, but it works much better as a preventative method - I go in a cycle - 6 weeks on, 6 weeks off...helps keep your system strong.

    5. Yoga, exercise and meditation. I swear, it will keep you so healthy!!!

    And if I do get sick, obviously I can't take medication, so I just drink litres of hot toddies (hot water, lemon, honey and ginger..sometimes with a little whiskey) and a soup I make with lots of garlic, mushrooms and miso. Yum.

    Garlic. Eat a lot of italian food because oregano is great for the blood and upper respiratory system also.

    Did you know that too much multi grain is actually bad for you? The stomach is designed to digest certain things and multi grain in excess is not one of them. Avoid beans, rice, cereals...things that they feed the poor in 3rd world countries that are implemented to fill the stomach as quickly and cheaply as possible. Barley is not good for you, avoid beer....yeast is bad for the vagina. However hops are good for you so if you drink beer make sure it's dark.

    Protein, protein, protein! Tuna, peanut butter or nuts in general. Yogurt. Not Yoplait! The real stuff... Greek yogurt.
    Coconut water. Amazing! So high in potassium. Ever slam one when you have a hang over? Instantly gone.

    Of course you could avoid red meat but that's a personal choice. I switched to turkey a long time ago and my body has never been more amazing. However, once you get off red meat your body is less likely to tolerate it.

    avoid pop, don't smoke, don't chew your nails, (people have no idea how sick that can make them) keep your shower and toilet clean they are breeding grounds for bacteria and germs. Keep your house clean for respiratory reasons.

    Most importantly...8 hours sleep per night.

    Sounds crazy right? I do everything except get 8 hours sleep and my bathroom could be cleaner but by following this regimen it's amazing how much healthier I am both emotionally and physically. Your body is your investment. You will only get back what you put into it.

    Yup, I got the flu. I'm just getting over it, but I had the flu on my birthday which sucked. But I felt a bit better that stripperweb sent me a Happy Birthday email
    So I can blame my flu on camming and not because I put my flu shot off? I did put flu shot off because that required me to get out of house and get off streamate... oops

    I get a flu shot from the doctor. I also
    -wash my hands more often
    -fruits and veg
    -lots of walks with the dogs
    -ginger with lemon and water
    - and green tea
    -garlic, I am korean so this is not hard to eat for me as I do eat kimchee

    You can just crush the garlic and mix it with honey. It supposed to taste better, but I have no problems with garlic just like that either. This might sounds disgusting, but my favourite is this: I make toast, then I rub a clove of garlic on it and top it with bacon grease quickly, and eat it while it's still hot. Best with tea. Yummy!

    Sorry I'm too tired to read this thread but I want yas all to know that i had a nasty virus, the kind that sticks around for months and I kicked it by taking echinacea (only recommended that you take it for short periods of time) astragalus root (I think I'm spelling it right and you can take it constantly unlike echinacea), eating raw garlic and raw honey. All of these things boost your immune system and are helpful before you actually get sick. I also bought dried shisandra berries to make tea with. Schisandra helps with your stress response which also affects your immune system.

    I'm still trying to shake the flu I came down with over 2 weeks ago...ginger root tea helped my sinuses, I also make a salad dressing that includes ginger, shallot and garlic. Elderflower cordial is good. High dose vitamin C and zinc. Echinacea too. Whatever you fancy eating, we're normally drawn to the foods that heal.

    Get a Z-PACK (from Your Dr. (an antibiotic that zaps flu out of Your system), to have on hand- I wear surgical latex gloves when I leave my apt., airborne (the gumdrop kind everyday),- I NEVER shake anyone's hand, no matter whether it's flu season, or not. EWW-Gross!
    I am always sooo careful to not get sick, yet I caught the flu over the summer, because i stayed at my friend's place to watch it while he was out of town-Didn't think to wipe down all surfices (remote),bathroom, and kitchen handles, etc. I noticed some medicines laying around his place that were for the flu,and cold, but it didn't hit me that he had been sick before he left for his business trip!- I had the WORST FLU, that lasted over 2 weeks,(my dr. was out of town for his summer vacation, so I couln't even get the z-pack.)- I only took 2 days off from camming, and would take-'barf breaks', just so I could get through camming and make my money.
    I was sooo pissed at my friend for not telling me, but I never said anything to him,because he pays me well to watch his place,and because he goes out of town on business or pleasure a lot and I can cam while I'm there watching his surround sound flat screen t.v,with all the ppv movies I can see.He's a guy, so he most likely wouldn't 'get it', as to why i was pissed.
    oh, well.
