The thing is that I've heard stories of girls me and people know that worked 2 hours away from Miami - it's a common thing. And I've heard of guys that actually drive out to the clubs farther out from Miami (around Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood, a little further too) for the novelty, or just because they prefer those. I kinda have a slight reason to be paranoid!

Another thing is that stripper me probably wouldn't be that different from regular job me. I usually get jobs (retail, even) where managers require the girls to have "impeccable makeup, hair, etc". The line between the makeup I wear for work vs. the makeup I'd wear as a stripper is probably very thin.

I'm not saying to do this to see if stripping is going to be financially lucrative for you. You can always improve your hustle. I mean that you need to get yourself into a club to see if stripping is for you or not, and one shift is a much better indication of that than none at all. Some girls get up on stage or get into the back with a customer and realize that it's just not for them for whatever reason and that's the end of that. That's fine, but it's not something you want to learn when you're in a new city with the goal of saving money. Even with mad retail experience, summer is generally prime hiring time for that industry (other than around the holidays now) since students are on college breaks and need work. Competition is higher and hiring is done a bit earlier than when you'll be getting in to town, so you won't necessarily be able to waltz in to a store or restaurant and pick up a job if stripping isn't for you.

I'm just saying, give it a shot for one shift. You may have heard stories of people you know going to clubs far away, but it's not like they do this on a daily basis. After the holidays is generally a nice quiet time too since people are winding down and realizing how much they've spent, so your odds are even lower. Plus you're really underestimating how different you will look in the club even if you do your make up the same way - the club lighting and skimpy attire make a world of difference, and it's not like people are going out looking for you there. Find somewhere far, go for a day shift, and just make sure that stripping is something you can do for 4 months.

^This exactly. No matter how paranoid you need to be (and don't get me wrong, I think it is excellent you are thinking about all of these things in advance, this is really a job where that tacky line better safe than sorry trumps almost everything else, so being overly cautious is definitely to an advantage over being too laissez-faire about the situation). BUT be as cautious as you want to be once you know you want to dance for sure and have that opinion via personal experience rather than assumption. It sounds like you will be a great fit, but just get yourself in a club as soon as you can so you know for sure.

And if you end up going forward with your plans to move somewhere for the summer I would highly recommend sticking at least kind of close to home (in the same region of the country) so that you can drive out and scope out the clubs, and preferably work a shift or two at a bar of your choice too before you move all your stuff out there. I am speaking from personal experience when 2 summers ago I did what you are planning to do, I relocated for 4 months in the summer to be near a bf, and I was totally screwed because things were not as I expected. I had a terrible time getting hired, and the bar I ended up working at was shit for the first two months...I got so broke I needed to look for a regular job to supplement because I don't like working at the club more than 2-3 nights/ week. tops...and of course couldn't find one right away! Things do not always work out how you plan them.

Alright, ya'll have convinced me. I'm gonna try a shift and see how it works out for me. I'll make a new thread when that happens to tell how that went

Every girl has a different average. I know girls who make more than 10k/month (no xtra's) and others who struggle to make 3k. There's no stripper 'average,' just personal averages. good luck!

Great question. I'm hoping to bring in 4k a month. Developers your hustle and it could happen! GOOD LUCK!
