    Default Stripper-proof make up!

Anybody know of a good foundation that survives the job? My main problem is I have to constantly wipe off/powder my nose as it gets so shiny all the time (even throughout the day never mind sweating after stage). I also feel you can see the redness when I'm hot at work, either through the foundation or foundation has sweated off. (I never see other girls busy with compacts either, it bugs me )

I read an old thread with a raving review of 'Makeup Forever "Face and body foundation"' but I can only get that off t'internet...

Eye make up- I've been using cheap stuff which smudges off but I've just bought some rimmel and revlon stuff so hopefully that will hold up. I look SO haggard and unpretty when my make up is struggling through a shift, I hate it!

I'd go to a make up person in a department store but I'm a bit embarrassed about asking for mega-sweat proof products haha.

For skin: Revlon colorstay has good reviews. Pair that with Makeup Forever's Microfinish powder.... you cannot go wrong.
For eyes: I haven't had the chance to try this product... but the gel liner never budges so I have high hopes for this: http://www.maybelline.com/Products/E...too-Metal.aspx

As for asking for recommendations from store employees.... just say you go out clubbing and don't want to dance your makeup off. Who wants a sweaty face during the dubstep remix of gangnam style???

I use Makeup Forever HD Foundation, and I would say it's worth ordering online. I can't really recommend foundations outside of that, because I've stuck to it for the past 2.5 years.

What I can suggest is that you use primers, facial and eye. Urban Decay's eye primer has a cult following, and it's actually worthwhile. Some people recommend Elf's eye primer ($1-$3), but I don't have much luck with their products. I've been using a low-cost facial primer (Revlon Perfecting Primer, ~$11) and it works well, though I prefer Boscia (~$35 for a much smaller amount of product). I also recommend you use a finishing powder. Again, I'm with Sophie on this one in recommending Makeup Forever, but it's expensive. A lot of people say Elf's HD Finishing Powder (under $10) is a low-cost dupe, but I'm not crazy about it. Maybe I just need a different brush? Shrug.

Also, something that has helped my skin a lot is witch hazel toner. It really helps to control my oil and refine my pores.

On the subject of eye products, I really like Sonia Kashuk's matte shadows. I have the basics one, and it was $20 or just under. NYX has a lot of very pigmented low-cost shades, but I prefer neutral tones personally.

I love love love Revlon Colorstay and also the liquid eyeliner. The only thing with the revlon foundation is it will need retouched when dancing. I havent found anything that doesnt sweat off and make me reapply.
I have not tried the Makeup Forever HD

i prefer the makeup forever matte powder over the liquid HD finish, it covers well and stays put by itself and i'm fairly oily.

Wow thanks everyone. I will definitely try those products, I think I really need the toner and primers. Does anyone spritz a bit of hairspray/makeup setting spray when make up is done? I've done it a few times but not noticed much difference.

VS sells a spray that holds you makeup in place, like airbrush finish..i liked it but i have very sensitive skin..if you don't though i would recommend it. also illuminating primers by revlon are awesome! i use a tinted moisturizer and then powder immediately after to seal it all in and it works great, i might have to reapply once in 9 hours.

Not a dancer so I can't recommend something that would be ultra sweat proof but I can tell you as a makeup artist that you do need a facial and eye primer! Even on the hottest of hot days, my makeup stays matte and fresh. I wear MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation (which might be too heavy for your situation) and I always use a facial primer underneath my foundation. Urban Decay Primer Potion is fucking fantastic for under your face makeup AND under your eye makeup. It will prevent it from smudging and sweating off, as well as creasing. Also, Urban Decay has a Slick Spray that is phenomenal for keeping your face in check. Just spray it on after you're finished applying your makeup. It sets it and keeps it from budging. You can find Urban Decay at any Sephora store!

Since my first week dancing 8 years ago I have used Mac Studio Fix Liquid. It takes me forever to go through a bottle. If stays on so well. I use a powder on top- just really on the T-zone. I just make sure the powder is light with a very small amount of color. I do powder my face after about 2.5 hours most of the time, but I really don't need to.

make-up forever products are used for professional dancers, and made to last and look awesome in the light.....the key to make-up is a quality face cream and eye cream...then a primer...then foundation....also use a light concealer around your eyes to make your face glow.....go online and look up how to contour your face with bronzer and blush.....i noticed my make-up came out a lot better when I used high end brushes...and when i clean my brushes ! (2x a week) good luck !

MAC liquidlast liner is a godsend. It's about $17 and lasts me for months.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation. It covers any imperfections and stays put. Plus it's not too expensive and easy to find. I'd say it's worth trying.

I agree! I've been wearing double wear for years and don't use drug store only high end products and I always go back to this! I like it even better thsn the 80 dollar one I was using by estee lauder for a while, but I don't have oily skin at all and never get break outs...

Thanks everyone. I went with estee lauder double wear which is amazing! Didn't even get a red-cancelling primer and I don't look red at all while working. Plus it's like a flawless look and eyebrows, blush and lips stand out so much clearer.

I also got a max factor loose powder, No7 primer, urban decay eye primer. Not sure how great the no7 stuff is working but it is all still nicely in place by the end of a shift, just a wee powder of my nose once or twice.

I also got some decent brushes to apply the stuff which I now see the importance of doing.

Eyeliner is smudging off though and giving me black undereyes, it's supposed to be waterproof (rimmel scandaleyes).

Again thank you! Love learning about makeup!

oh! urban decay potion primer for eye makeup literally changed my life. I have awesome big eyes and look absolutely killer with a really heavy smoky eye, but with my eyelid shape and quite oily skin it lasts 2 hours maybe, then turns into a thick messy line in my eye crease. so I started using urban decay primer and this shit is worth it's weight in gold seriously. it makes your skin smooth, helps with even application but most of all it makes all eyeshadow stick and last for hours and hours. ALL eyeshadow. my chanel eyeshadow. my bourjois eyeshadow. and even the crappy 5$ no name ones. they all just stay where they're supposed to stay and look perfect all night long. actually, even after a busy busy night at 5 in the morning I look in the mirror and it's the same as it was 8 hours earlier. once I came back from work so tired I just collapsed on the couch, woke up in the morning with a swollen face but guess what, my eye makeup was intact lolol
LOVE this product!! if Urban Decay paid me a dollar for every person I got into using this primer I'd be fucking rich hahah

MUA eye-shadow from superdrug are immense. Colours pay off and longevity. Cheap, cheerful and long lasting. Clinique super balance. I always wear a primer for eyes, on rugby shifts I wear a foundation primer too. Urban decay is good for these x

I'm gonna go with MAC. It's amazing and last a long time. I find that I amend less money in the long run. The Studio Fix is awesome. The concelers are awesome. The gel eye liner is amazing. I live to go in and have them do my make up for fun events. This is when I buy my product. Spend 50$ on product they will do your make up for free I bought their gel eyeliner and it lasted about 6 months!!!!!! I've been out and go through a stick in about 2 weeks.

I used to only wear Christian Dior Forever wear foundation and that was amazing but it cost a lot. Now wear Lancôme 12 ? hour wear ideole foundation that is cheaper. I use Sue Devitt foundation gel foundation in humidity but doesn't last as long as the extremewear. The sue devitt uses seaweed I think for healthy skin and its very thin for summer and had a darker shade I liked that matched me perfect. I was crazy about the powder so don't buy that. Powder is a cheapie for me. Neutrogena mineral powder. Its as good as department store powders. For blush I use Lancôme bronzer or another cheapie Revlon. Lipstick I have a bunch of Lancôme juicy tubes I use or Estee Lauder lipstick. When I use lipliner its also Revlon. Eyeliner I use Elf liquid liner. My ultimate favorite got discontinued is Maybelline Liquid liner pen in the blue tube. It was the best makeup product ever made. Why they discontinued is pure ignorance. For primer I like Victoria secret brand or Too Faced primer or Tarte brand. I like Tarte's cheek stains and marj. oil too. Mascaras Dior and Too Faced, but I used like Covergirl mascaras before I got into expensive brans and they never flaked or smeared I remember.

Oh I don't re-apply powder very often. I use oil blot papers Kroger's / Ralph's grocery stores sell by their facial wash products. They are the best.
