The latest marketing disaster from PF, because they are "not a gym" and this is clearly how all "hot" chicks act in the locker rooms of gyms full of them and "lunks."

so stupid I hate health clubs in general, sorry. I mean I like to be/keep fit but just, ugh

I dont know...thats kind of wierd. So if youre in shape already youre not welcome to work out at PF....
...its only for people with body and self esteem issues who dont want to be around anyone else who might look good?
Strange marketing I have to say. My gym is full of rediculously hot looking women...makes me put in those extra 10m when I feel like giving up.
...when I actually go that is
But seriously..its motivating. If I looked around and no one in my gym looked good, Id think something is wrong with the place.

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/we...cled-americansHave you not seen their other ads? They have a bunch of ads that are no less strange, insulting to someone, and FAR from the "judgment free zone" they claim to be. Now THIS is a classic from the John Stewart Show you have to see to believe:

Everyone knows advertising is for stupid people right? They only hope to catch some smart people who stop to notice how idiotic it is.
...well stupid and idiotic are a bit harsh. It's primitive. Advertising is designed to tap into our most primal instincts in order to connect with their product and make a sell. Here they patronize people's insecurity to say 'fit people are bad, but you can still get fit with us because we aren't bad people.' It's odd, but it'll probably work.

I'm a member of Planet Fitness
They are super cheap ($10 month)
The whole selling point of the gym is that it's different than other gyms, they are catering to people that are not "gym people"
They have really strict rules about what you can do there
For instance, you can get kicked out if you grunt too loud (lol!) or drop weights
There are a lot of old people that go there...
I think it's okay. I joined because it's inexpensive and I feel self conscious working out in front of other people that really know what they're doing.
Eventually I'm going to grow out of this gym but right now it works for me

Is that lady from PF real or was that a spoof?
I mean, calling people who are muscular animals, that they are all jerks and belong in a cage?
Yet the slogan of the place is No Judgement?
Im sorry but thats gross...as is that lunk alarm...is that for real??
I mean, I go to 24hr fitness, and they dont allow you to drop weight or excessive grunting either, but its out of being courteous to other people working out...some loud ass siren going off cause someone breathed too hard would have me flipping out.
Like the jist Im getting is they hate hot women or muscular guys...so after giving them your patronage, if you get in shape youre basically against policy and they will hate you for it..now youre a lunk and no longer welcome. Thats insane....I understand the concept of creating an environment where people can feel comfortable working out, but to the point where they advertise hate for anyone who is fit...thats insane. I would never go there...ever.
I did laugh though when he was like...do you know who you sound like? And she was like Hitler?
And hes like nooooo not at all, I was going to say Thomas Jefferson...
Funny way to put it...but yes, that pretty much sums up my impression of the place now.
Id never seen any ads for them before btw...but this is Miami, hate for people who take care of themselves woudlnt go over well here.
Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink!
Nope, not a spoof. Seems like a caricature I know, but it's not. As you can see, the Daily Show didn't have to do any work at all the make Planet Fitness look like complete turds. The producer said something like "you should have seen the footage we left out..." to me.![]()

I have seen a few of their ads and it put me off from joining they are just so silly. I get they are not the typical gym, but I think the idea that other people care that much about what you are doing at the gym is in people's heads. When I first joined a gym I weighed 188lbs and at 5ft tall that's fat. Nobody was paying me any attention, and I joined a gym full of buff dudes, they were super nice to me. Besides I wouldn't have lost weight by NOT going to the gym, right? Right now I workout at home, because I have found that if I don't have to leave the house I workout, even more.
I think one of the first steps to health and fitness is being honest about your body, and accepting it. Step two working your ass off to make it better. I just don't see a place like this being very motivating for me. I feel like they would baby you, and that's not what I want. When I weighed 188lb and people would tell me I wasn't fat. All I would think is that they were blind or well meaning liars. I don't need that. I knew I was fat. That said I didn't feel fat made me a bad person, just a person who needed to move her ass and eat less/better food.
Sorry for the tangent but I just feel these ads are pushing attitudes that aren't helpful to anyone. They imply that fit people are stupid, shallow and lack manners. Honestly if that's what being fit does to you why would anyone want to be fit. I find that offensive. Trust me when I reach my goals I'll be as smart as I am now. I'm losing fat not brain matter.

I totally agree with that Rina...and the thing is, most people dont join gyms because they were born in shape, anyone you see like that had to work at it, and garunteed, no matter how hot anyone around looks, you can be sure of it they had a day 1, and started at the same place. I *know* Im out of shape...and when Im in the locker room, I see ladies who look like they came out of some kind of cast mold labeled perfect![]()
But never...ever have I felt like they were looking down on me or trying to make me feel bad...they are there for the same reason I am and arent paying a lick of attention to me..., and anything I could feel would be my own insecurity in my head...have I ever felt that? Heck yeah of course...I have my "waaah I used to look like that!" moments, but thats *in my head* Having someone confirm that I should feel bad about myself and should stick to my own kind because we dont belong in the same league would make it *worse* not better..thats demotivational.

To me they're like Wal Mart. Cheap and efficient. Since I keep such late hours they're perfect for me. When I go at 3am there's literally nobody there. Other than that I probably wouldn't be a member.

What do you think about LA Fitness or XSport Fitness the latter being open 24/7

If they have the equipment you want/need at a cost price that works for you, all good. I don't know XSport but I recall LA Fitness can be on the pricy side no? Your basic Golds Gym tends to have all the equipment one needs, low key atmosphere (a real judgement free zone...), and usually around $40 a month +/- some $$$ depending on location etc. Most are open 7 days on all holidays, etc, (I worked out Christmas day myself) but generally not 24 hours however.

I go to 24 Hr Fitness, and its $30/mth... I like it there quite a bit, and can go to any of their branches too, so even if I travel I can still go.
If I went that is![]()

love the subtle lesbianism in the background.... The thing that pisses me off is the fact that they're calling that woman not hot. That's rude.
I hate them.

I am glad I found this thread,I was planning on getting a membership their today...until now.I am not as "fit "I am basically fat sitting on my but doing absolutely nothing for a few years has took a tole on me.I am 5 feet tall weigh 140 but my measurements are crazy 38D-30-40 and my chest is naturally huge.Everyone says I look great, with their lying asses,I don't feel or look great.
I am really insecure right now and add on the fact that I plan on starting to cam on Monday I am down right terrified. That Planet Fitness commercial has done nothing but make me feel MORE insecure, and question why the fuck would I want to join a gym that judges people based on their looks and style of workout. My man HATES PF and we actually have gotten into a fight over me working out there,he thinks it is a glorified pick up spot.
I have been a member of the local "Meat Head" gym in the past and I have NEVER felt stared at or judged. The members were always more focused on their workout than me,and the employees were super nice and helpful, its just that it is kinda pricey and their tanning bed is donezo so I would have to get a separate tanning plan elsewhere.
I will NOT be joining Planet Fascist today or ever.
