    Default Shoes

I was wondering what is the best place to buy shoes and what kind of shoes you would recommend for a beginner? I have to order online and would prefer amazon if possible because we don't have any stores close by thanks

pleaser seems to be the most popular..also if you are a beginner i'd recommend straps on the ankle and maybe a bit lower in the heel.. and they need to fit your foot like a glove or else you get embarassing falls and twisted ankles i would really recommend trying to find a place and trying them on if you possibly can!

Ellies are very comfortable - fantastic arch support and padding. Definitely get the kind with straps. Get white or clear. 6".

I usually keep a pair of clear heels and a pair of black heels, because black goes with any outfit that even has black on part of it, and clear goes with literally everything.
I started out with just one pair of white heels with a lower heel and quickly got sick of them. They get scuffed up really quickly and the lower heel was actually less comfortable for me than the 6 1/2" ones I switched to.
I wear Pleasers, I have to replace them every couple months because they get stinky, ripped, scuffed, etc. but this is partly because I am rough on them with the pole and slamming them together and on the stage.
It's a bummer you have no way to try them on, you'll just have to order what you think will fit you.. I usually wear a 7 1/2 in shoes and I wear an 8 in pleasers.

Men generally like white or clear heels better. Not saying that with the right outfit and the right look black can't be a stunner. White and clear are just good safe colors. You should be looking for bright outfits that stand out, and buying white/clear shoes will help you gravitate towards outfits that show up well in club lighting (not necessarily neon, but I'd avoid black).

maybe a girl in her club will let her try theirs? That was common in our club for girls who could not get to a physical store.

If you have no way of trying them on, I would go with clear, 7 inch Pleasers with an ankle strap like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Pleaser-TABOO-...ch+ankle+strap.
I think that these are pretty much the standard stripper shoe and they're not very expensive. I think any heel shorter than 7 inches looks stumpy and too short unless the girl is VERY tall. I found in my experience that they are pretty true to size although the strap over your toes seems very tight at first. Put on thick socks and then put the shoes on and blowdry them to stretch out that strap and they will be nice and tight without being painful.

You can also try knee-high or thigh-high boots, I found they provide better joint support, & are a bit easier to walk in esp if you are not accustomed to high heels. Thick socks underneath will help protect your skin from bruising from the pole/floorwork. My favourite pair was these black thigh-high vinyl-type material, 5" heels that were a bit thicker, but the pole tore them up You can sm times find them in normal or alternative style stores, my current pair I found at Dillard's altho the heel is a bit less than 4".

yes! sooo true..this week i have gone to thigh-highs and they are not only sexier but protect my knees, which often get bursitis from floor work.

i have bought on amazon. i would recommend going a full or half size down. i wear a size 8 in regular boots, sneakers, and flats, a 7.5 in regular high heels, and a size 7 in stripper shoes. i recommend anything with a clear top because the cloth tops stretch too much. plus clear elongates your legs.

I agree with this. too many girls wear black and they all blend in in the dark. the only time I think girls should wear black shoes is if they are wearing black thigh highs.

I agree with Charlie61 - white or clear shoes tend to be the most adaptable for any outfit and (IMO) are more feminine. Since you're a new dancer, I'd start with one of these colors. I prefer clear. The shoes I dance in right now are 7-inch, clear, with ankle straps. If you're not used to walking in heels start out with 6 inches. They're Ellie's, but I've gotten a couple pair of shoes from the Pleaser brand and they're just as good. They actually are very similar to my Ellie ones I just bought. The only problem is that even though it's a size 6 (which is my shoe size) and fits well, the ankle strap is too loose. I'm a thin girl so maybe I just have abnormally slender ankles lol... The Pleaser brand was the same way so I had to make new holes in the ankle strap to buckle them snuggly. I didn't do that with the Ellie's shoes I just bought and tripped twice last time I worked. Haha.
