    Default Fear of Plastic Surgery

I want to get plastic surgery, but the biggest fear for me is my family. I'm afraid of what they will say about it. It's rhinoplasty... I think it'll be easier once it's done though. Like taking a bandage fast off a wound.

anyone has tips on how to go through surgery?

Lay off the painkillers if you can. They constipate the fuck outta you. do your research and don't go for the first quackpot advertising on Groupon.

If you are doing something that will make you happier and is harmless, even if it is something to do with your looks, and you fear the reactions of particular people, your choice is not the problem--it's those other people. They're your family, so I won't be a twat and tell you to just cut them off, like it's that easy. But don't let them and their issues keep you from doing something for you.

Go to consultations. Find your surgeon. Make the appointment. Put down the deposit. You will feel excited after you make it final. I went through so much anxiety about my surgery, and now that it's scheduled with a deposit, I'm just annoyed that I have to wait till March.

if it's subtle then they might not even notice. You can also get a new haircut to detract from your surgery.

mine were like that too, especially my father who threw out my barbie doll when i was 6 because he said it set a bad example and women ruined their bodies on surgeons tables because of the doll :p i feel ya
like tempest said, try and get away with as little painkillers as you can, eating the soft foods and being very careful when its' healing. follow the doctors orders and don't mess with it..and very VERY careful about your surgeon, especially with a nose job!! you need to find a real artist. don't go the cheap route with a hack whatever you do

I told my mom and dad before I had mine. Surprisingly they were really open and accepting about it. We hide it from the rest of my judgmental family until I was all healed up. It has been a few years and I still find family members and friends who would not have noticed if I did not say anything. If it would make you happy then do it. People are always going to judge you so do what makes you happy. Research your dr and consult with several before you pick one.

If you take a stool softner, you may use painkillers at ease. You can ask your doc to prescribe you a stool softner. They're not the same as a lax.

I don't know....I mean, it may be rare but people still die in routine surgeries so unless you had a really bad relationship with your parents, I'd tell them shortly before your surgery so they have less time to kick up a fuss.

I never told any of my family about my surgeries aside from one if my sisters. My other sister guessed but did not judge and my parents never said anything if they noticed.. I've had a boobjob and nose job

Tell them you did it bc you snored/had breathing problems when you slept. People use this excuse all the time. In fact, if you tell a Dr this and have health insurance, you may be able to have some/most of the cost covered by insurance.

I am 5 weeks post op and the pain medicine is a killer in the constipation department but I asked for an enema and it was all good sorry tmi i know. I also didnt tell any of my negative family members just my mom and brother knew because they had to come take care of me and 1 friend. I wish you all the luck and please do a ton of research on your dr before committing to any surgery. After everything and the pain it is all worth it in the end.

Why are you worried about telling them? Many people get plastic surgery. Just tell them the truth, and calmly explain your reasoning behind it (to feel better about yourself, what's wrong with that?)

I've never had plastic surgery, so I can't give tips about recovery or anything, sorry.

Get down to your goal weight BEFORE surgery.(if applicable) If you don't you will regret it, trust me.
