    Default Life After Sex Work

Found an interesting article...you may have heard of this gal who decided the GFE was conflicting with her potential relationships and she stopped doing sex work (though not w/o it backfiring later) I myself have been in the industry a very very long time, in and out, not porn, cam, but most everything else. I'm on the fringes of it now (PSO) but the work is addicting (how can I make even more money?")

It's good to think about ones future, whether you're 20, or 50, saving, investing, exit plan strategy and such. Started this thread to get others opinions, especially the older gals who have been doing it for 20 years or so, but really anyone.

The article in question: Please read, comment!

Wow is all I can say. This article is very informative and very scary. I've been a stripper on and off during my twenties, and an escort during my thirties. I've had regular day jobs that didn't pay shit, and I got treated like shit in them. I feel so bad for this lady. It pisses me off that they would hold her past against her when she just needed the money to get by. She can't help that she isn't from some rich family. A lot of people have to do things that they either aren't proud of, don't really care to do or forced to do out of economic necessity. It's bullshit. I can think of so many famous rappers, djs and rock stars that worked in the sex industry or sold drugs to get by until they could get their big break. And seriously who are they hurting? No one. It's tough out there, and it's only getting tougher.

I plan to open a business out here soon, and I'll be damned if anyone is going to hold me back. I'll sue the shit out of them if I have to. I worked my ass off for every dollar I ever got in this industry. A lot of people think that sex work is easy money. Bullshit! It's a job like any other, and you have to work your ass off to make any serious money. Hustling guys for tips and table dances is no easy task. It's a sales job just like any other. I would just love to see how any of these "normal" people would handle it if during their sales pitch some guy groped them like they do us. Well, that's what I had to put up with. Not only did I have to sell dances to these guys, but I've been grabbed at, touched when I didn't want to be, cussed at, put down, made fun of, etc. Not hard work? Yeah, right. These "normal" people would go crazy if they had to put up with this.

Now, with escorting, it can get even worse. Yes, it's true that per call, you make a lot more than you do for a lap dance, but the work isn't any easier. You risk getting beaten, raped, murdered, robbed and arrested. Sad to say, I've seen all of them happen to multiple women. I would say that the money is quicker, but certainly not easier. I've been robbed, attacked, maced, yelled at, threatened, blackmailed, arrested, ripped off and scammed. I've had to deal with countless drug addicts (both provider and client) and countless basket cases. I had to pack a gun when I used to go on calls (before screening got easier thanks to zabasearch, etc.) when it was just print ads, and the internet was just taking off. Just for any of these "normal" people to have to deal with what I have to deal with on the phone everyday would be enough for them to pull their hair out. Don't tell me about hard work. There are times where I've had to sell a guy on a call for a half hour over the phone just to get them to book a $200 call. And I HATE sales. Talk about torture. I think people in Abu Gharab had it easier. So, yeah, this is just a little infuriating. She deserves a good teaching job. She earned it and then some.

I've said this before, and it's a rhetorical question, but for how much longer can we Americans be marginalizing anyone that ever was a sex worker? Do the math, how many cam girls, escorts, massage girls, etc., are there in the US today? Can they all be banned from ever being a kindergarten teacher, or work for a fortune 500 company? I'm waiting for the next 'outed' lady to just stand up, own it and say 'Yeah, I did it, so what?!', instead of apologizing.
