Sad If You Have a Bad back, and cam, this question is for You~help with advice please

If anyone of You ladies has any kind of back problem, i would LOVE to hear suggestions on how You have your cam area set up.
When I started camming I lived in a warm climate, so my backaches were minimal. Now that I am living in a frigid climate, my back is tight, and achy ALL the time.
i have scoliosis, and arthritis in my spine, which has been aggravated by camming, and just living in the cold.
i was in so much pain last week, that I had to see a Dr., for some kind of a shot, and got some pain meds. he also gave me some back patches, but they made me dizzy,s, so I removed them.
I presently cam like I always have, at a desk, with my pads, and pillow, on my office chair.(Bed doesn't work),never has. Any suggestions You have I would be open to trying.
I am looking into Holistic herbs, and such, ways to treat this, but I realize that the potions can take a few months to be effective.(I've tried accupuncture, massage, etc, but it's never helped, and was expensive.)
I was going to go to vegas to dance,to get out of the winter cold, but after research the clubs, have decided to stay here.
    thanks in advance ladies.
    Have a great weekend!

Always sit comfortably in the office chair.

    Take a break every hour.

Use a heating pad/cushion to relax your back while upright.

When you finish work, have a long hot bath or shower to relax your back and ease out the kinks.

OH, THANK You!! Heating pad~Never thought of that~Awesome advice Glittery! A bath after camming~ I always take a hot shower, because I'm so tired, I have been worried that i would fall asleep in the tub. I will take a bath from now on, because the shower even bothers me to be upright and bend down to wash myself.

I had surgery on my spine due to scoliosis, which ended up failing so my rods are off my spine. Unfortunately my spine continues to turn and will need another surgery soon. Anyways, I can't sit for extended periods of time. I actually can't lay down certain ways because it's uncomfortable. What works for me is changing positions often. Your muscles have to work overtime with scoliosis so you'll tend to have some pain and muscle spasms. I also exercise daily, stretch, and actually yoga helps A LOT! I also agree that a heating pad will be your best friend, but I do suggest your watch how long you use it and only use it with short intervals when needed.

I'm probably not the best person to give advice on this. I've dealt with pain all my life from lupus, arthritis, among other things that I've learned to deal with it. Sorry your in pain, I feel for you.

My heating pad has a maximum time limit (can't remember which one it is now), but goes into 'cushion mode' after. 2 decades of arthritis and hell say regular movement, and heating pads are bliss.

My specialist recommends gentle stretching / yoga in the shower too.

I have a chipped vertebra and find that daily yoga works wonders. Doesn't have to be long just 15 minutes.

I have thoracic herniations and chronic upper back pain. I've done the shots, which didn't help at all. Meds made me sleep constantly. Last resort was a pain pump, which helps but is causing my b/p to fluctuate wildly. Surgery is too risky in that area, plus the thought of back surgery scares the heck out of me.

I like using a hot water bottle instead of heating pads because I've burned myself falling asleep with one before.

For camming, I like to sit in my comfy office chair in free chat. My cam is on the monitor. I have a separate futon (in the down position) with a tripod in front of it, so I just move over there when I get a show. Lots of pillows help too.

OMG I am so sorry!!! That just sucks...my sister had severe scoliosis and had an operation a long time ago - I remember her healing, and would not want anyone to have to go through that twice...hugs!!!

I don't have anything as sever as scolisis, but I do have a bad bad - dancing since I was two, and then all the contortions of stripping and pole work from the age of 20....my back is NOT happy. Most of my issues come from muscle tension. I have actually once pulled my back muscles simply because they became so knotted at the ends that there was not enough left to span the space in between! That was horrific, and since then I take much better care of it.

    - Make sure you have a fantastic ergonomic chair. Less useful if you have had surgery for scoliosis, because you won't be able to curve into it, but still good for the cushioning of your ass.
    - Work on your posture. Dancing really helped me with this - DO BALLET! You will never slouch again!
    - Do yoga - it does wonderful things for me.
    - Make sure your cam space is WARM - even a little too warm. Your muscles naturally contract in cold environments, and it makes them more likely to pull or hurt. Don't work if you are freezing.
    - Heating pads are awesome!
    - Hot bath when you are done.
    - Take stretching breaks - just five minutes to get up, get the blood flowing, stretch out your back, shift the weight around.
    - If you can, get regular massages. I had to do this when I was dancing, but it's a little out of my price range now. But it was amazing.

After I have paid my taxes this month, my first purchase is a decent desk chair. I've been sitting on/perching at the edge of my bed for two years, and that's not doing my back any good!

Oh, Ladies, many Thanks for all the great advice! It never occurred to me to use a heating pad for anything other than menstrual cramps! lol!
Taking Your advice Glittery, I cammed yesterday, using a microwavable, organic type heating pad (it's filled with some kind of barley husk, or something)-a massage therapist gave it to me years ago,but I only had used it at 'that time of the month'- It was FABULOUS!!! Since it was tucked behind a towel behind my lower back, no custies could see it. What a difference in how it soothed my back while I was camming!
I was able to put in more hours camming because I was comfortable. In between, I stretched, and took an hour long walk in the brisk air. Then stretched some more during my hot shower, before bed.

GLAMAttachment 32572 This is the brace that I had to wear 24 hours per day from the ages of 12-18. I could only take it off to shower. Did any of You have to wear this torture device? (in High school, You can imagine the teasing and bullying, that went with it !)
"WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU, MAKES YOU STRONGER!"
When the brace was removed at 18, I had perfect posture, and got right into modelling, and later, stripping.
That's why, since that BRACE TORTURE~i.e. (during my most crucial formitive years), now~ nobody can hurt my feelings, when they (other women) tell me that I dress too sexy, I'm too busty to show my cleavage like I do, I should be a brunette, instead of a blonde (yeah, right! phhh!), I should hide my bubble butt, etc. (fill in the blanks...) (I always think, "Is THAT the best You've got to try and hurt my feelings?") It's NEVER going to get to me~ I've already been hurt, raped, (Multiple times while I was in the brace), by both high school boys, and older brothers of my girlfriends). I am proud to be the Glamorous, sexy woman that I am! I EARNED MY STRIPES!!! As I know most of You have,as well. Rock ON Ladies!
    Have a great weekend!

Have you tried seeing a chiropractor? I went to high school with a girl with severe scoliosis who avoided braces with a chiropractor, and my mom was able to avoid surgery for 5 years for her degenerative disc disease by seeing a chiropractor. It's actually really amazing how much illness can be cured with regular alignment. I have heard stories of cured allergies, disappearing migraines, and of course fixed back pain.

I know most people are freaked out by doctors popping joints, ect. ect. but there are many chiropractors who offer non popping/jarring treatment too. Just ask them about it before or during your consult.

I really hope you start feeling better! x0x girlfriend

It's been a crazy ride. I had the surgery at 16, a year later they told me I was 100% fused and the surgery was successful. Then a few years later they told me that the surgery wasn't successful, they didn't go down far enough and that my rods are off my spine. At this point my curve is back to 50+ degrees curvature and still turning. I can't imagine getting another surgery with 4 children 6 and under in the house! Oye!

I slouch and have some occasional back aches because I'm heavy chested. I usually just sit in an office chair with a cool jelly or pillow behind me, and then if I'm tired of sitting I stand up and dance and or just lay on my side on the bed or stomach. Also, if you're doing 6 hour plus shifts. Split them up! Do 3 hours when you know the traffic will be good, and then take a long break until later and do your last 3 hours. You're body will not only thank you for it, but you'll be proud that you actually did a 6 hour "shift" in a day. More money and 3 hours on cam isn't that bad when you're having fun, playing music, and dancing.

I've been in front of a computer since I was 5...I know about the accompanying backaches.
Never stay in the same position for too long, especially sitting. It's all too easy to slouch at a computer, avoid it. Check your posture every few minutes, I use keywords sometimes. For example, every time a guy says "tits" evaluate your posture and sit up as much as possible. Stretch every hour at least.
I like to cam on my couch. Then I can sit back, sit up, stand up and lay down when I start feeling that back twinge.

AF~ Yes I have tried chiropractic with many different docs, some rough, and some gentler adjustments but it just is not right for my kind of curvature.
It was sooo painful. Thanks for the helpful suggestion though! Hugs, Glam

You know...I still have 3 different of my back braces at my parents house and can't help but wonder if I should get them and do some videos on C4S with them! lmao worth a try I suppose!

Great idea to sell on c4s! Way to take a negative and make it a positive Ange! BTW~That pic was not of me~It was one I took off a scoliosis website ~ But that's how the braces looked when i was a teen. It was called the 'Milwakee brace" at that time.
Now the teens are wearing everything except that hideous neck and upper back part,so they can hide it under their clothes much easier. Lucky them. Might sve them from some harsh and horrible bullying.
let me know how those clips sell.
I left my brace with my parents, when I moved across the country at 18, because I NEVER wanted to see it EVER again! They threw it out when they sold my childhood house.
Today, I would have had burnt it!!!

It might not be worth much, but I wanted to share how I take care of my back...

I have much scar tissue damage from my endometriosis, as wel as a herniated disc from the scar tissue as well. My shoulders are tore up muscle wise and I agree that sitting in a chair is almost torture.

I am in pain management so I have pain killers if I need them but I was also on something called Neurontin for a few years with nerve pain. I get regular injections into and all throughout my back to help. I was terrified at first and it did take some time to get used to getting them. I go once a month as well as deep tissue nerve injections every 45 days. From the deep injections, the results are long lasting. With the combined pain of everything I suffer from and much of it being a domino pyramid effect; when one thing acts up, so does the rest. I can usually get a good 5 weeks from the deep injections and the monthly ones cover the majority of the rest back and forth. One thing I refused to EVER do was back surgery. Many stories I have read along with many people that I know, have had good results at first and then they are either worse or back at the beginning where they were in a short period of time from the surgery.

I feel all of your pains as it took me awhile to deal with this. So, I made a few investments. I started with those heating pads that are disposable you can buy for your back. I often used the Therma care ones but the risk of using those and a heating pad too much can lead to nasty heat blisters or burns...

This is an example of what disposables I used. http://www.amazon.com/ThermaCare-Low...e+heating+pads

I also took the time to try different things based on the amount of my pain and was told by my PT person in the start of all this. Here are some suggestions:
    http://www.amazon.com/Battle-Equipme...ds=heating+pad

    http://www.amazon.com/Thermophore-Ma...ds=heating+pad

    http://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-885-00...ds=heating+pad

On top of these along with soothing baths, I figured it wasn't enough for me. I wanted something that in the very least that when I went to sleep and woke up, I didn't feel like someone was pinching my lower spine with a pair of pliers. My back will often hurt through the day so I got a better chair at first. I liked it, but it wasn't enough. Sitting on the heating pad or propping it behind me helped a bit but not enough. So, I made the investment a few months ago in a memory foam bed. This bed, is a fraction of the cost of the namebrand and I am renting it from a place called Aaron's Sales and Lease. Most people don't go to those places due to over charging but, I paid it off within 120 days. The price I would have paid in full over two years VS the price I paid in the 120 days was $400, out the door, mine. Owned. I didn't bother with the box spring.

Now, I cam from my room all the time sitting on that thing. When I wake up, I feel like I slept and with hardly, hardly, any pain at all from the day before. I can actually move about more without having to take pain pills as often as I was. I am telling you, if you can, invest in one of those beds. Being up and down all day, fucking yourself dry raw and then some, give yourself a reason to be happy when it's over.

Even if you are out running around and on your feet - try these things. I am flat footed without any arch support at all. With my big boat feet, I have had problems with those too my whole life. These ALSO help my back after a long day... I can be standing still and find myself rocking back and forth. I found out about them at some convention I went to..
    http://www.happyfeet.net/

I work with with my Fitness games on my xbox 360. Many of them have Yoga in them - it also helps every morning with stretching slowly and carefully.

Before I would hate going to sleep because of the pain. Now, I couldn't be more happier. I hope it helps and all of you get better.

^ I also got a memory foam bed, a latex one last year. That shit is AMAZING, especially for people with chronic pain!

Thank you so much for the great suggestions Miss Mafia! I can so relate to your pain I can feel it RIGHT through the computer,as i am reading Your words- I can only imagine how those surgeries were too much for your body to handle! Horrible what we,as women have to endure! I invested $2300 in a california king size adjustable bed, with vibration,- but i didn't get the one with the memory foam mattress, because they were not available then. -i'm going to test one out a.s.a.p.!
I, also, hate going to sleep, because I too, dread the pain I'll be waking up with.
I moved to the desert about 11 years ago, and, for the first time in my life, was pain free! It was amazing to FINALLY know how people who never have back pain feel. Too bad the rest of the desert was too intense for me- the climate was bad -110-120 degrees (with 80%) humidity for more than 7 months, was more than I could stand! Gross! Plus, I'm too much of a city girl and was BORED to tears.
It's strange that up until recently, (when I realized that the world 'just doesn't give a damn') I have always tried to hide my back pain-Now, I even carry a pillow, when i am going to be sitting at an uncomfortable chair-I wear cute flats, whether fuzzy slipper boots, that gals are always complimenting me on, loose cloths, etc.),and always try to keep stress out of my daily life. A gal pal made a great point when she said-"men are taller than You anyway, and will enjoy the view looking down at your chest-why would You want to wear heels and ruin it for them?" lol! Her words have always stuck with me! Besides, if I EVEN attempt to wear so much as a wedge shoe, I know I'll wake up with a MIGRAINE!
i'm going to ask Dr. about those shots-Whatever he gave me 2 weeks ago, did nothing.
    Thanks again! Be well! Glam

Even if you moved to a weird climate..

Remember you have the ability to create your own climate in your house.
