Default Just a concern I have about being an exotic dancer

I'm thinking of becoming an exotic dancer, but I'm also planning to leave an abusive house pretty soon and I was just wondering what would happen if someone was to track me down, find out where I work, and call/show up at the strip club, asking for me by my real name or trying to find out what days and times I come in.

First tell security that there might be someone looking for you & they should be able to watch.

If you see him show up at the club, immediately tell management. There's security there to protect you, but I bet they would also ban him from entering the club again. You also might want to have someone walk you to your car , and keep the number of the club in your phone, call then go back if your being followed... Or just call the police.

If you have a decent club... Its just that you should have several bouncers looking out for you at a club... Plus people watching cameras... Whereas a normal job your lucky to have one security guard... Of course how good the bouncers are and how involved they are at your club is to be taken in to consideration. All the girls here are escorted to thier cars and someone stays at the club for a bit after close in case we notice that were being followed. I've never had boyfriend issues... But a man did scratch me in the VIP once... I went and told someone and three bouncers and a DJ were chased him outside and scared him off for good. Never to be seen at the club again. I'm not telling this so you let your guard completely down though... Please don't hesitate to call the police if you ever feel you need it. Hate to see women put through this... Hope things get better.

altho the club will have your real name on file, nobody will know it offhand. usually clubs tell customers who ask that whoever they are asking for doesnt work there or refer them to the schedule online or something.

dont allow the club to take and post pictures of you online and you should be fine.

Depends on the club. I have worked at more than one club where security was a fucking joke. Generally speaking, the nicer the club the better they are--but not always.

I never know the dancers' real names, by choice--I don't want to take the chance I'll fuck up and say her real name on the mike someday lol. A lot of security will be the same. It's very rare the people in the office where your documents are on file, or the manager will go around telling the rest of the staff your real name. In fact I've never heard of it. A few nosy security types might try to find out I guess, but generally this isn't going to be a problem.

Uhh, security is there to protect the CLUB's interests, not the dancers, almost always. It is not realistic to count on club security that much. Not at all. At best you might find a sympathetic bouncer or 2 who will watch out for you but for the most part, depending on club security isn't productive.

Most of the time if someone calls a club asking for your real name, whoever answers the phone won't even know who he's talking about. I'm thinking though, if someone tracks you down at the club he would be more likely to just show up and follow you home than call the club or go in where he knows there are likely to be bouncers and such.

Your best bet is to know where the local cop shops are and PAY ATTENTION when you leave work (or go anywhere for that matter). Always tip a bouncer to walk you out after your shift, and wait until the parking area is clear of customer types. If you know where the closest cop shop is, and you notice someone following you from work, drive straight to the cop shop while calling 911. That is really the safest place you can go in a bad situation.

When looking for a place to move into, consider your safety first. Look for places with a garage or secured parking where you don't have to get out of your car and walk in an open area to get to your door.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Once you leave, please be aware of your surroundings and DOCUMENT every siting and event in detail. Any confrontation should be reported to the authorities immediately (no second chances). This will help if a restraining order becomes necessary.

Also, I'd like you to inquire about "stalking laws" in your area.
