    Crunches and similar exercises are a great way to screw up your back while giving minimal benefits to the targeted muscles you actually want to work.

    Thank you! I stopped doing ab workouts because they hurt my back so much (messed up epidural did a number on me), these are amazing!

    Oh wow! Will, thanks so much for posting this! My back is so messed up, I didn't know how I was going to work-out my belly. Sit-ups hurt so bad because while doing them my spine has to bend and move. I almost gave up and then stumbled across this thread! These exercises look so much easier than sit-ups since they don't involve bending, twisting and moving the spine. Thank you again for posting!
