About 1 am this morning, I was online, boyfriend had gone to bed, dog started whining so I got up to let her out, put the lead on her opened the front door and she went before me, and the consumer unit's in there and I think she knocked something-all the lights went out. I went to get my phone to use to light the unit up, let the dog out, she did her business and came back in, I bent down to see if any switches had tripped and my hand brushed a loose cable-I felt it, it kinda tickled my arm, then bang I was on the floor on my back! I don't know WHY, if the power had the capability to send me flying, why it didn't just kill me.
I feel okay, as soon as it had happened I went and sat down on the sofa, was a bit shaky, but just carried on chatting to my friend online as if nothing had had happened haha!I think what helped is, I'd been out for dinner with some girlfriends and had a bottle and a half of wine, so because I was a bit tipsy, I wasn't freaked out and didn't panic and fell softly ?! But why didn't it kill me?
The reason all the cables are exposed is because of my boyfriend's house being the way it ismost consumer units hide the cables and are covered-this one is firmly stuck in the wall,. but it is exposed. I've no idea how the dog knocked it out because she wasn't jumping around or wagging her tail she just literally walked past it.
Moral of the story-life can be 'cut off' at any time! Enjoy yourself and make the right decisions ladies!![]()
