I know there's a thread on 'em, but it's way old, anyone do these? I almost got hired once for a lameass sewing machine one.
I mean fun, cool ones like the motorcycle, auto show etc.? Tried to get in there but, eh.

I sometimes volunteer at the everything to do with sex show. pretty much any of these trade shows always needs volunteers some will post on their website they need them or you can contact them and act if they need some.
which is how I was able to volunteer at the expensive shows like the power within show a few years ago.

In cities where tradeshows are popular, a lot of the work they get are through temp agencies, same for tradeshow models, through modeling agencies. Just before major tradeshows, you may see posts on craigs from either the agencies or the companies looking for someone.
Another thing you can try doing is to check out the tradeshows coming up in your area, on the website they will usually list what companies are attending the show..from there, you can try contacting the companies directly to enquire if they need any assistance, attach your resume and a photo and see what happens.
Im not sure what type of job youre looking for, Ive only ever worked the tradeshow circuit as a sales rep, but while checking out other booths, some thought I was a model and offered me their card. Id say using that angle, even if you do only make it in as a volunteer, if you get the chance to see the vendors face to face and they may be interested in hiring you for a future show. Then again, they may keep you so busy you wont have the chance to do that...Im not sure how volunteering works, but if it gets you on the floor or in contact with vendors, Id say its worth a shot.
BTW I wouldnt blow off a show cause its not interesting...you really never know who you'll meet at these things and a lot of times the individual vendors cross between shows...like with just one company, Ive done gift, apparel and also the adult show in Vegas (which was AWESOME! lol) Oh but yeah thats another thing...Ive only ever worked on the floor, never for the tradeshow organizers, but they have a lot of people in all different aspects of running the show...so thats a whole other world to check out too.
