Default Taking the plunge: No geoblock?

I'm seriously considering taking the geoblock features off my streamate account in order to gain more exposure. I know this makes the people we know or the people in our area easier to find us, which is a potential downside, but I may be willing to embrace that increased risk because I want to move forward in my business anyway. However, I also have to wonder if it makes that much of a difference in terms of traffic and paying customers?

Just curious what your experience has been...or other thoughts you ladies might have

It definitely helped me get more customers, but it also exposed me to my local area and I have been noticed in real life many times. I recommend it personally, but then again, everyone knows I cam so it's not a big deal for me personally.

Is it really worth being found out? For me its not.If your family knows what you do ,take it off and see if traffic increases Good luck!

It didn't make difference when I had no geo-block at all vs my area blocked. However when I had several areas blocked I noticed I was pushed back further than usual on the site.

It is relatively easy to find out with a proxy, especially if they know you cam and they know the sites you might work on. But it's much easier for someone to just randomly stumble across you if all they need to do is be on streamate browsing around, as opposed to having a proxy and signing up with their credit card...

If you are a member with credit card on SM you can not use a proxy, I got my customer account blocked for this reason...I was not told I was blocked, I just couldn't sign into my account, when I finally called, they asked if I had been traveling as my ip addys were not matching with my cc or something, I don't honestly remember what they were saying.. but when I told them, no.. they said this is why they locked my account.. then they asked about the proxy and I said yes.. he said, no you are not allowed against their tos..so I apologized and got my custy account back

Even if I got to a proxy site.. and go on streamates sight, just browsing, not logging in to an account, I can not search for me by my name, never ever comes up, but if I sign in with my custy account, under the proxy then I can.. (but also risk getting my account closed)

I only have a few cities blocked. I'm in Canada and you can't block a whole province.

    Worth it.

I took it off, and my income increased a LOT - although I was also working more and generally getting better....

I just took it off because I think that it doesn't protect. Proxies are an issue, but you can also be found through a cammodels link in a heartbeat. More to the point, even if you are geoblocking, your stuff can be pirated and pop up on tubesites, and if you do any kind of social media marketing (fb, tumblr, twitter, instagram, blogging, etc etc) you can STILL be found as they don't offer any kind of geoblock.

It just seems like it doesn't make it much harder for people you know to find you, but it DOES really limit your customer base.

Side note - I have never been recognized. At least, no one has ever directly come up and said "hey, you are scarlett moore, right?". Well, except strip club clients.
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

The geo block has just been this little bit of extra "protection" but I'm starting to doubt that it's even worth it...plus I'm even vaguely considering trying out MFC and there's no hope of "hiding" on there either.

I'm good about protecting my personal information, but I don't know if it's worth it to be super paranoid and just try to vaguely hide forever, you know? I mean sure, someone on the street might happen to recognize me and it's definitely not ideal, but I'm starting to think that it shouldn't control my life or my business. Even if someone I knew in my personal life tried to "out" me...I mean that's a risk we all take if we want to be successful and put our faces out there. I want to move forward and don't want this to hold me back.

I've never used it and no ones ever recognized me and I had a fed guys tell me they go to my real Uni (as opposed to the fake one I'm at in LA). I used to bartend in town at a really popular bar. So so far, going without geoblock hasn't caused me any issues.

I took mine off a while back and no regrets. I doubt anyone would have the nerve to come up to me and ask. I mean, what can they say?!

^^ That's not a problem for certain kind. Rather they're like wohoho who did I find, how cool I am? That gives them a sense of achievement I think. Or the nasty gossip type, you know. That gives them a hot topic. Who cares, how did I find it? What did I find is more exciting.

Of course if customer browsing the site he/she can notice you are there for example in first page. He/she doesnīt need to know your profile name. As a model you can use a proxy while you are not logged into your model account like ordinary customer (no member account). But what I really mean if you donīt want your for example family can notice you are there.. If they surfing in porn/web cam model pages and use a proxy, they can randomly notice you in first page or 2.nd or whatever. In theory. If somebody wonder how they cannot block some rude and annoying customer, they can change every time different proxy and it means different ip-address every time... (I have these kind of customers)

Okay, I am confused... I have a customer account, too.. so they know that is me signed in with a customer account? I was signing in as the customer (a different email addy and all) using a proxy so it shouldn't have shown my own ip address (me the model).. They blocked my customer account, not my model account. and told me it looked like fraudulent activity since I was signing in under different IP's

I used to geo block, then realized that i couldn't check my profile while it was on.
Took it off, because NO BODY IS WORKING AS HARD AS I AM, FOR 35% that comes in my chat, plus they will NEVER pay my bills!
I have had people come in my chat and say my real name, say that they live in the same bldg, yada yada. At first it freaked me out, but, You have to accept the reality that it could be some past employee of a site You work, or have worked on, that has all of your personal info. Most likely a jealous female, or male who You don't care for, because he's always demanding in Your chat.
I'm never recognized on the street, mainly, I think, because I have lived in 2 of the largest cities in the US, both have populations of 10 million, and growing. These people have more on their minds, and have very busy lives. When I lived in a small desert community, about 10 years ago, I HATED everyone's nosiness! My neighbors would knock on my door, if my blinds were closed for over a day, to check in on me.( I WAS TOURING AT THE TIME), AND USED THAT PLACE TO CRASH AFTER MY TOURS). I got the hell out of there, and am a city girl all the way! DON"T BOTHER ME! My home is my ONLY refuge from the busy world, and I will NOT have it disturbed.

I have always tried to geoblock...
Then when I signed up to a certain site and they blasted my state onto my profile without me putting it in for public viewing. -.-
One of my regulars is quite local but we have never met and he's never mentioned it, he said he liked just knowing a girl from his state online like that. I live in a state that is pretty rural with small towns.
Plus, I have a family. I stay home or go to my day job. Now and then I go see my good friends I have known my whole social life. It's not a whole lot of opportunity to be recognized. That's how this shit hole place is lol

    On a flip side,
have any of you that do geoblock also thought of the possibility that someone from another state that watches you travels and you could happen to run into them?
How frikin weird would that be

In my opinion geoblock is completely useless. All it does is keep you off the marketing list, which does hurt your earnings. If you're advertising your links then you're pretty much negating the block because people (family) can still find you. It doesn't work very well and just hurts your earnings. I say if you're going to risk getting on cam (because that risk NEVER goes away) then you might as well be at the very top of your earning potential. I had mine on for almost a year, the week I took it off my earnings tripled and I have not considered once putting it back on.

I've been camming for a few months and I never turned on the geoblocking. I think it's pointless, because what you put on the internet is permanent anyways. So why cut your earnings? My first couple of weeks as a cam girl, I was super nervous and I thought everyone I know would find me, but it has never happened. You gotta remember there are thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of girls online camming. The possibly of someone recognizing you are slim to none (esp. if you don't know a lot of people). Sometimes, I meet guys online who say they live in the same city/state I do and I just pretend I never been there lol.

I live in a fairly small town and I don't use the blocks any more. I've never been recognized that I know of but I have had people come into my room that said they lived in the same town as me. I always say I'm in a different state than I really am though. No amount of geo blocking is going to help you if you've been recorded or had screen shots posted on a popular tube site.

I was starting to think I was the only one ^_^ . I also lie about my age but I am older. I had a non-paying guy in my free chat room ask me, "Why do you lie about your age, you know I still like you?" (He is the only person who has ever accused me of that, usually guys tell me I look younger than my cam age. I told him, "It's my thing." And then I blocked him for being a cheap trouble maker. I did have one other non-paying guy in free chat tell me he knew me in real life, knew where I lived... Then he started talking about how he wanted to cut me up with his knife and feel my blood on his skin. After it got tiring I banned him too. I geoblock, I can't imagine the area where I live is going to be much of a sacrifice, it's not like I live in NY or CA.

I have Geo-Blocking on and am from a big city but now live in a small town- I have for about 8 years. I have my state blocked and a few surrounding me where family is. I had someone come into my room, thankfully did NOT say my name but said "hey meet me at _ bb" he mentioned a pizza place that is literally a 3 minute walk from my house. I got so nervous; freaked out shut the cam off and called my man lol. After much thought I said "who cares they were ON a porn site" I did report him and ask for him to be removed from the site due to asking me to meet him in a public place. I would never do that and it is against the rules. Since then I have had no issue and nothing has happened in my real life. I have now considered taking geo blocking off since it obviously does not 100 percent work and I caved and made a twitter because I have been doing better and better week by week. So now that I am putting stuff on twitter I know I can be found easy so I will probably take it all off. I never have cared what people think and if they are looking, who are they to judge!

I don't use geo block. However, I had someone enter my free chat yesterday, and ask how long I've lived in the UK? UMM...Never, I'm from the US, but I just played along with him. Is there a place on the web where our videos are being stolen, and then shown? Does anyone know how to find them? Thanks,Glam
