Default So quick question about calling in...

So I started my first dancing job on Tuesday and so far its been decent. They require that I work four shifts a week which they schedule and I told them that I have a day job so I'd have to talk to someone about setting up days that I can work. They haven't spoken to me yet about the schedule and I can't work tonight cause I have to work at 6:30 am and then again in the afternoon at my day job. I called up there to make sure this wasn't going to be a problem and they informed me that they don't like new girls to work weekends and they asked me to come in tonight. I said it wasn't a good night and they said I'd have to call back at nine and talk to the manager then. Now I'm freaking out because I'm scared if I don't go in tonight I'm going to lose my job or something and I don't wanna make a bad impression, and this is the best club in the city.

Question: Am I being paranoid and should just stay home and calm down or should I suck it up and go in and work tomorrow as well on no sleep???? I'm really not the type to call in so I might just be overthinking this but I made over $400 last night which was the biggest paycheck of my life (which I realize prob isn't a lot to some of you lol) and I really don't wanna lose this job. Help!!!

Definitely don't go in tonight and go to your day job with no sleep. Just call them at 9 like they asked and see what they say.

I'm sure they'll let you work next week if anything, and even if not, it's really not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be. I'm sure there are other clubs in your city that are fine to work at - you don't really know if this one is the best one anyway since you only had one shift there. Another club might have a more flexible scheduling system, which would likely be better for you if you're balancing another job as well.

Besides, dancing isn't like most other jobs where you need references and can't burn bridges. Girls come and go from clubs all the time, either because they quit, disappear, or were fired. It's rarely a big deal to get rehired later on.
