Default Anyone else not doing pole tricks?

Hey I've been dancing for over a year. I will do a spin here or there but I don't go upside down or hang from the pole. I just don't have the confidence....at home I'm okay but I get to work and falter. I have an upbeat personality so I tend to make just as much as the girls who do, nut sometimes I feel judged when girls who have only been dancing a few months do some. Are there any other girls out there who stay off the pole???

I'd say the general consensus on this forum is that pole tricks aren't in the least bit necessary to make money except for at urban clubs.

I've been dancing for over 3 years, can't even do a basic spin on the pole, but am consistently a top earner. Stage shows are great marketing opportunities, so I spend them trying to connect with customers with eye contact, coy smiles, and sensual movements - all of which are much harder to do while spinning around a pole or hanging upside down. Other dancers actually often compliment my stage show despite the lack of pole tricks.

I rarely go on stage, our club is not really a stage tipping club. We have lots of girls who do tons of great tricks, ironically they rarely get tipped anything extra compared to girls who just strut around the stage smiling.

I think doing a lot of pole is like wearing dramatic makeup. It's more likely that a girl you work with will like it than a male customer going crazy over it.

Im not a pole dancer or really a good dancer period for that matter, and have only worked at 2 clubs(they were predominantly black) where that was issue but even then once i was in their face they would be nice and tip. At bigger clubs Ill even pay the DJ to avoid the stage, when I get RIGHT up in a guys face and look him in his eyes, THATS how i sell dances. That was definitely a misconception I had as a younger dancer but now that Im older I know better lol.

THIS! And the only people I have heard verbally express disappointment at lack of pole tricks in a stage show were female friends I have gone to clubs with. And guess how much money they spent on lap dances? Nada. I could barely even convince them to tip a dollar every now and then.

I want to learn a few tricks now that I'm getting back into dancing, but mostly because I think it looks fun (never tried to learn before). I don't expect it to have any affect on my income.

like everyone else said, the pole tricks will get you points with girls and couples, but i don't do them on stage anymore because i busted my ass doing tricks and it just wasn't appreciated half as much as just smiling, lots of energy, eye contact, and interacting with the customers while on stage. working the crowd doesn't mean you have to do crazy tricks. in fact i've gotten many more dances when i just left the pole and gave the customers a more personal close dance, they said they felt we had a "connection" and i earned way more money.
i love pole dancing, and im planning on taking classes, but its more for my personal enjoyment and a good work out!

I learned from some older dancers that pole tricks are for the young (at least in our area). We can do them, we just choose not to. We have kids at home and if we get injured at work doing a silly trick (that most likely won't get you an extra dollar), who will take care of them? If a customer asks about them while I walk the floor then I'll do a simple one and if I get tipped do some more. but , in my experience, pole work doesn't net more cash. So why do it?

I agree, uneccessary for money making or to impress most men.
I do go on the pole at the main club I'm at, because we have to go on, an I can do a few tricks but other girls are better. I like it for the exercise and because it breaks up the night especially at the beginning when there's not much going on. But that's just me.At another club I work sometimes, the stage show an podium show is a big part of the night an some girls are amazing-but , again pole ability-earnings, not related at all.

I don't do jack shit onstage but bounce my tits. I still make my money either way.

I used to love pole tricks and made some REALLY nice tips doing them but customers would rather have you talking to them. They don't care how physically strong or graceful you are unfortunately. Pole tricks are really fun and I'd recommend practicing on your off time if you want toned arms but other than that I'd focus more of my time on talking to people

I use minimal energy on stage, dance really slow, sensual etc... so that I save my energy for selling dances on the floor. I have seen absolutely no correlation between how good a girl is at pole tricks and how much money she earns. It's all about the eye contact baby x

We had a virtual pole acrobat @ my club and I was onstage right after her. Some snooty civilian vagina was "What can YOU do?" I sneered "I don't have to do shit honey. I'm skinny with huge tits that your man can't stop staring at" She STFU right after that.

    ^LOL

On an off for 5 years. Can't do a single pole trick. One time years ago, I accidentally ended up upside down... Still not sure how it happened. I was like UHHH HOW DO I GET OUT OF THIS.

I've noticed customers DO appreciate a girl who can do good pole work, but unless your at a club that has really good stage money, it's not worth it. Interaction sells dances, and when you're on the pole you're not talking to people!

I hardley ever do them, when I first started I learned but cannot be botherd, where I work each guy has to give me a pound no matter what I do anyway, most places in the UK you get nothing onstage, anyway I know how to move and look sexy and most men say they really enjoy my show, also I always have girls asking me to show them how I move! which I don't know I just do. Im planning to practise some moves before I come back to the US because the clubs I work there tricks can be a big deal on the weekends .

My two favorite strippers do virtually no pole work LOL! But the way they move? Myyyyy God,
they have the art of seduction down to a science.

Though I appreciate a good pole artist, I'm more impressed and 'turned on' by a very seductive
floor show - especially if it involves splits ;-) And like others have stated, a good hustle involves
    great people vs pole skills.

    I'm going back to dancing next month, and the only real thing I've been working on is my flexibility;
I want to learn pole tricks, but for my own sport - not to really use in the club.

I never did pole tricks. Well....ok, I did in the first 4months of dancing, but once I figured out how to make money it wasn't worth throwing my back out for a couple of wadded up ones when I could be making hundreds in VIP for sitting.

ignore them! try not to let them get you down, if it's not pole tricks it's something else and there will always be a girl or two that needs to act snooty for her own personal reasons....as long as you act super confident on stage, people will eat it up.

I did learn two last night that look impressive but are fairly easy so this weekend I can have an awe factor or two when the stage is crowded. But boy am I in pain....
