    Thumbs up Any business advice???

Okay................so, I've been escorting on and off for about 6 months now. I realize that I do not want to spend the rest of my life doing this- Even if the money is easy and its a lucrative business. I really would like to save and end up with a nice nest egg for future investments and business endeavors. So, my question is- Ladies, once you have retired from escorting, dancing, web-camming/ adult films etc.- what have you ventured out to do? Any business owners etc? I love the entrepreneurship side of escorting, but would love to some day get outta the sex biz and STILL make tons of cash/ be successful and my own woman. And ideas? I'm also in college and taking a class to help me know my own personal talents/ personality type etc. I also want to take some business classes as well. I really want to start another business and learn about investing money/ and letting it work for me etc. Any wise and experienced advice on this broad subject would be great. Thanks! I AM LOOKING FOR MENTORS WHO HAVE "MADE IT."

Personally speaking, I concentrated on dancing for long enough to create a savings and investment nest egg that was capable of generating sufficient 'passive income' such that I don't have to worry about future business ventures / straight jobs for the rest of my life. However, I was enticed into trying to create a non adult industry related small business ... based on my hand-made alcohol-free soaps and lotions, which were the result of my having to deal with hospital disenfectant soaps destroying my skin, and destroying the skin of fellow hospital workers, while I was a Respiratory Therapist.

This business was extremely successful for just about one year, until the US gov't enacted new regulations requiring the tracking of all ingredients, the testing of all product batches prior to shipment ( for bacteria, fungi etc. ), product liability lawsuit exposure etc. The new accounting / record-keeping / testing / insurance costs would have turned previous profits into a losing situation, at least in terms of my very low volumes ( as compared to an industrial scale operation ... my one $10 test per 5 pounds was one $10 test per 5000 pounds for them ) and I had no choice but to abandon that business.

Actually, my most 'profitable' venture after retiring from dancing was to 'expatriate' myself outside the USA. This 'investment' effectively increased the rate of return on my savings and investments by some $30,000+ per year, based on legal avoidance of US income, capital gains and dividend taxes !!!

That was a great idea with the alcohol free hand soaps, I used to work in a hospital as well and know what you mean when you say they eat the skin. It seems it used to be so much easier to just start businesses in the US but now with all these laws and regulations its become much more difficult. I too am interested in learning more about how to make a ton of cash but not have to do the sex business part. I am in school for business so this helps a bit but I think street smarts and who you know play key roles in your success to starting up a successful business.

I danced to pay my way through college. When I graduated, I called it quits. I worked for a huge electric utility right after college in their "scholars program" that took me through four different departments in the company over a two year period. They also paid for my MBA. After that, I left to join a VC in their accounting department. I worked at several early stage companies they were invested in before identifying company that I thought had potential but was outside my VC's industries of interest.

With the help of one of the principals at the VC, I bought the target and have been working a turnaround for the last year and a quarter. So far we are way ahead of schedule on most metrics. Only profits are lagging but that's because of some heavy investment at the end of calendar year 2012 to make sure we did not lose any bonus depreciation due to the fiscal cliff. As a matter of fact we are on track to buy out my partner about two years early!
