    Default omg, west africa scam!

I was on a puppy site looking to buy a dog, and I sent an email to the guy giving him my full name and phone number to contact me.

And it turns he wants me to contact some guy in West Africa who is on a missionary. Total scam right away.

I'm worried now, he could call me, keylog me. And this just happen an hour ago!

    ^^

Stay off of "puppy sites". They're mostly puppy-mills or scammers. Also, irresponsible breeders rely on the internet and shoppers like you who may not know how to properly screen for healthy puppies and puppies raised in good conditions.

I don't believe in "buying" animals, personally. I've had a cat for ten years (found him for free off Craigslist) and a Pomeranian puppy for nearly three years whom I adopted for free from an elderly woman, just outside my town. There are many different outlets around you to find animals who absolutely need homes and lives could be saved by adopting them. I'm sure that wherever you are, you can find a nearby rescue or shelter that could perhaps feature the breed of dog you're interested in. If not, go to a shelter/pound and adopt one. It'll have all of it's shots and probably be spayed/neutered. That's what you're paying for, in the minimum costs.

Once again, don't attempt to buy living things off the internet. This is a living being you want to bring into your home. Stay local, go MEET the animals, and stay away from breeders (especially ones that can't be verified).

Use http://www.petfinder.com! It is a search engine for adoptable animals. You can even search by breed, age, good with children, etc. so you can still get the type of dog you want while not going to a puppy mill. I agree with Vivianbear. You type in your zip code too so everything is local as well.

Yeah, I had someone similar (or the same person) on Craigslist. "Free to a good home!" then once I emailed inquiring, they said, "Oh, we're serving God in Africa, so we need $400 to send your kitty to you! God Bless!!!" I signed the inquiry email with my first name only, but I haven't had any issues stemming from it, and this was back in September or so.

There are so many shelter animals please adopt one of them instead of buying from a breeder.
