    Default Learning to pole dance?

I know that they offer pole dancing classes at some places, but I wasn't sure if these were geared more to be a workout rather than a real "pole dance". I want to start dancing and my body is in good shape, I just want to learn how to dance sexy and do pole tricks. Do any of you girls teach girls that ask you how to pole dance? I was wondering if I could ask one of the girls at a club nearby. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks ladies!

At my club, girls ask me to teach them some stuff, and since I stay after close pretty much every night to practice, I'm happy to teach them some basic tips that will help them learn on their own.
Honestly I am pretty good on the pole and nobody ever taught me specific tricks, I just built strength and taught myself everything I know. So i'll to teach girls how to hold themselves up with their hands only, their legs only, one hand/one leg etc. and they can sort of come up with their own moves from there.

    Thanks for the response girl

Where do you practice? Do you have a pole at home or do you practice at the club after/before work? And until you build up enough strength to really work the pole, what type of dancing did you do?

Most pole dance studios teach you pole dancing as a workout, so they don't often focus on moving fluidly like you would in the club. There are certainly some that do and that focus on transitions, so be on the lookout for studios that have open workshops so you can see what they do before you sign up.

Also, you don't need to learn how to pole dance before becoming a stripper. Fuck, you don't even need to know how to pole dance after becoming one. It's kind of cute how often girls post in the same vein. I wish we could make a sticky message on the top of the Newbie Board saying YOU DO NOT NEED TO KNOW HOW TO POLE DANCE TO BE A STRIPPER. Unless you're in an urban club, you will likely make more money NOT doing pole tricks because you'll spend more time marketing yourself from the stage via eye contact and coy smiles.

i've found that a lot of girls at the clubs will be more than happy to show you a few tricks, especially if you tip them for their time..if you want to learn how to "dance sexy" i would suggest mastering fluid seductive floor work first, getting more flexible and strong, and then trying the pole..as its really not necessary to be sexy

I show girls how to do tricks if they ask, but you have to be careful with that because a lot of girls are self-taught and sometimes do moves incorrectly which lead to injury in the long run. I'd recommend learning from a pole instructor as opposed to some random girl. We have a dancer/pole instructor who competes nationally at my club and she's taught me a lot. If there's no one like that around you, Studio Veena is AMAZING for learning pole tricks imo

A pole studio near me recently did a 'sexy class' taster and then 6 week course. It did look so much better than how a lot of people move/pose round the pole, and gave me a few specific moves i know look good. Contact any pole classes you can find and ask them if they do anything like this.

Girls usually practise before any customers come in where i've worked and we learn from each other so you should be able to learn from other dancers.

I agree you don't need to know tricks, you can pick them up after starting. Confidence in your movements is most important.

I'd caution against pole studios...at least call first and ask if the classes are actually taught by and designed for exotic dancers. A lot of these places are just targeted towards middle-aged women and suburban housewives, and so none of the moves they'll be teaching you are moves you'd see at a club--and a lot of them are moves that aren't particularly engaging or sexy. When I first started dancing a friend and I signed up for a pole-dance class at a local dance studio and the thing was a freaking joke. The first class was how to walk in heels, I kid you not. And then they moved on to how to walk sexy around the pole--which wasn't a real stripper pole, just some vertical metal bar. My friend and I were the youngest in there by at least 15 years. When I asked the instructor if we were going to learn real tricks, she announced to the class that exotic dancers who pole dance at strip clubs were specially licensed to do so by the state for insurance reasons, so she couldn't teach us that. I was like, "...." and I never went back.

I think it can be hard to find a legitimate pole dance studio, somehow I managed to find one that is only about 15 miles from me. The class has 8 real spinning poles and taught by true exotic dancers ... how do I know this? Because the class is costly! The instructors have found out how to make money dancing for women too ... most of the students in the class are about my age late 20's early 30's. Most of the classes are about $15 - $30 for a 1 hr to 2 hr class. They have recitals too. I managed to find it by looking into it online, but I am in a pretty big city. I do think that learning these dance moves in the company of other women is great because they inspire you to do better and they help you to see where your errors are in a non-judgemental, fun and casual way.

I go to a studio and it teaches me some solid things. Have been to many and they are all a bit different. Definitely have to find the one that gives you what you want. Some are more fitness and others more sexy swag. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Felix Cane DVD series for pole tricks, flexibility AND floor work ... and I love PoleAndAerial.com, which is her online school with Jenyne Butterfly, Marlo Fisken and several other leading pole dancers.

    1. You do not need pole tricks to be a stripper. In fact, even if you do them odds are they probably won't make you a ton of cash (or even really be noticed).
    2. If you just WANT to learn pole tricks, sign up for a drop in class at the pole studios in your area. See if it's stripper style moves or not.
    3. The pole class I take involves basic to super advanced pole tricks, PLUS walking and dancing standing up and sitting, and confidence tips/stage presence. It is marketed as a fitness class for all kinds of women, but the things we do DEFINITELY work at the strip club. It is taught by ex-strippers, Playboy models, former Vegas showgirls and burlesque dancers. There is also a lap dance class that's separate, plus burlesque, striptease and fitness/weight loss classes like Zumba. If you can find a studio like mine, it'll help keep you fit, make you more comfortable and fluid on stage and be a fun hobby that has work benefits too.

We don't have any close pole classes around which sucks. I think I'd be more motivated to learn more if I was in an actual class. If you have a pole at home though, Art of Pole is kind of awesome and pretty thorough if you have the discipline to keep at it.

The more time youre on the pole the less money you make. You make more when your attention is on the customers and not on avoiding them.

Since i am in the market of buying my own pole for home and also start dancing again I have been on a serious search to find something where I can pole dance and learn tricks. I did find one great video on youtube.

I don't know what the studios provide but I am not sure I want to go to them and tell them I am a stripper getting back to work I need help on how to dance more sexy so I can make money. who knows they might frown on that.
