Default How much money do you consider a GOOD night?

So the last thread for this was back in 2007, and obviously things have changed in this industry since then.

I'm curious how much money you have to make to leave happy? Not like, over-the-moon happy or anything -- just enough to leave without feeling discouraged.

Feel free to fill out the poll (it's anonymous) and/or reply to elaborate.

Hmm... I was feeling like maybe I had my standards too high for being disappointed in myself if I leave with less than $600, but seeing the majority in this poll makes me think I should be working in YOUR girls' cities! Discouraged with anything less than $1000? When can I audition?

I'm miserable leaving with under $500. I normally make $1000+ so it's "eh whatever" at the end of the night, definitely not unhappy or anything. I get pretty happy leaving with $2000+

i will usually come out with 500 a night, anything over that and im happy. although since the new year, its gone down to 300-400 a night on average, so since then i've been very pleased to make over 3..im hoping with tax season coming around itll go back up , and the past 2 months haven't been an indicator that things have gotten permenently worse kind of discouraged, since i've been trying to up my average earnings every month, and now they've dropped badly. but on the other hand, i hate when girls say " omg, i've only made 400 dollars tonight! i hate myself!" i can see how it can effect your self-esteem and many girls wait to pay their bills til the last of the month ( and we DO work very hard), but i try and stay grateful and positive and think of how i was earning 275 a week working full time before i stripped! hell, when i had my vanilla job i was over the moon to earn 500 a week! and that's what i usually earn in a night stripping. i've gotten kind of spoiled because this year i haven't even had to hustle to earn that, i keep having to remind myself that so many people are homeless and starving and would be grateful for a regular vanilla job and it usually helps me keep things in perspective when i hear how my friends have spent all their hard earned money just to buy their kid groceries.
edited to say :wow 2 grand?? holy shit. i've never earned that, and i hustle my ass off now! maybe mass just sucks

    Las Vegas.

I've been working here for a good four years so I've gotten really good at the Vegas hustle, asking for enormous tips, and selling guys (and groups) on multiple hours.

A lot of girls are complaining that Vegas has been really slow lately so I'd recommend it with caution.

"good," "happy with," and "not discouraged with," mean 3 completely different things to me. and obviously all numbers are slightly flexible depending on the night (like, if I only worked a half shift, if I got one decent custoner and spent the rest in the dr, if I had to work super hard and everyone was grabby).

so I put $800 because thats not discouraging to me but I dont consider it "good."

I hear it should pick up in the coming months through April/May. Isn't it convention season now?

I wouldn't have time to do Vegas until May or June anyway, but I've always wanted to try working there at some point. I like smaller, upscale clubs though... I do best in low-medium volume, because I find big crowds and packed stages to be overwhelming, so I've always thought the Vegas hustle would intimidate me.

Yes, it's convention season until around July, but every girl is having a different experience. I'm doing phenomenal but a lot of my friends are struggling to make a few hundred. I've danced for six years and have put a lot of money into my body so I may be at a slight advantage.

I wouldn't recommend the summer (I travel during that time anyways) but May and June are profitable months! I prefer smaller clubs as well so I tend to get a lot of anxiety at the start of my shift. I work the 2am shift for this reason. It's considered the "bad shift" but I absolutely love it. I pay only $35 to work and there is less customers and girls to compete with. Towards 5am, the club dies down to a "low-medium volume" which allows me to better seek out high-paying clientele. Most girls are tired at that hour so pitching VIP is easy kill.

Our club caters to almost completely out of town business men & sports fans during cowboys/rangers season. My numbers change based on that. I am happy with 500, disappointed with 300.

It really depends on what the shift is and how long I'm working, but since I only ever really work early weekday shifts (Monday-Wednesday 6-7 hours) and Saturday day shifts (4 hours), I consider $600+ to be good overall. For the weekday shifts, I except at least $5-600 and consider over $700 to be good. For Saturdays it's usually $3-400 with $500 being good. With these amount, I leave with a smile, not discouraged, and excited to return to the club.

So far, I've done botox, a nose job, and lots of skin care. Can I ask about what you've done with investing in your body?

Also, can you tip the DJ to get off the stage in Vegas? I work at a large club now where I can tip DJs so that I never have to do stage.

For what I'm happy with: it's hard to answer because the season and day of week make a difference, so my number is changing with context. And if the club is dead, then I feel differently about the number because then I'm grateful for what I made that night, given the circumstances.

It makes me sad girls are happy to leave with 500 a night. Yes, I do leave with that a lot, but I am NOT happy about it! Girls you deserve more, you deserve 500 from at least one guy a night!

I know making 400 in one night is good compared to other jobs, but I would never be a dancer if that was my average. First off, I pay a mininum of 50 dollars, day shift, to work. Its more like 70-125 on most nights. Usually tip the DJ ten, and at least one bouncer ten. Its annoying to me if I'm only leaving with 400 because at least 100 of that has gone back into the club. Not to mention I wear out expensive dancer shoes, use a little more expensive make up, and wear out expensive outfits every single time I work. Guarantee in a shift I'm blowing 30 bucks just on "my look". I also spend about ten in gas to and from work and 5 in tolls, and about ten in food for the shift. Thats over 150 just to work a weekend night! Not to mention I spend nine hours in an environment filled with crazy people. If I leave with 500, I have actually only made 385. Yes that is good, but keep in mind you can not do this job full time! It will kill you emotionally and physically. I really feel my limit is 3 days a week. 1000 is enough to live off of, but I'm not a dancer just to "live off" my earnings. I'm a dancer so maybe once and a while I can take a vacation or buy MAC makeup or put some molah into a 401k for my retirement, or go to school and actually have time to study instead of working all the time! Making 500 everytime I work would kill me. I really like to make at least 7 and hopefully 8+ on a weeknight night.

^When a dancer refers to her "take home" pay it usually reflects the loss of fees, AKA her net, not gross.

So when I say $600 in a night, really about $700 is passing through my hands but that $100 covers my fees and my tip-outs. (We have very low house fees at my club!)

I agree, I would not be happy making $1,000/wk working 3 days per week, as a dancer. Ideally, that's what I am *saving* per week, after my living expenses.

I need to start traveling for work, though! I expect to see a steady decline in my revenue starting next month through the fall. And when I say steady I mean steep. I know a lot of areas are bad in the summer but I at least need to find the lesser of 2 evils

that's very true, i was referring to my take home as well, after the house fees, food, etc.. i agree that on the weekend you should definitely try and aim for more than 500 , i just always work very slow days. 500 is (was) my average all year, without hustling, working tuesdays and mondays..not overjoyed, but grateful for it while i try and up the amount every month

Like others have chimed in, I meant my take-home after any fees and think most others who replied did as well.

Also, while $500 may only be okay for you, you have to keep in mind that everything is not uniform among dancers on this board, so it makes no sense for you to be sad about girls being happy to leave with only $500 a night. While you pay $70-125 to work for 9 hours, I only pay $25-35 and work 5 hours, so $500 (take-home) for you is only $55/hour, but for me it's $100.

Not to mention earning potential varies in clubs and areas, which also come with different costs of living. $500 won't get you as far somewhere like NYC, but in a smaller town it's plenty. Plus the differences in how much each girl spends on her "look." I definitely don't spend $30/shift on my look, but I don't work in a gown club and it just doesn't fit my style.

It's next to impossible to accurately compare earnings among dancers, so there's no need to basically shame girls for being happy with $500 a shift.

I picked the $500 mark because of the incredibly heavy fees at my club. If I leave with $500+, it means I actually grossed around $1000 and was among the top earners. For my hustle and the level of customers in my club, $250 is the bare bones minimum from a snooze, dial-it-in, zero effort night, $300-$500 is a slow night, $500-$750 is a good night, and $800 or more means I didn't take a single break during my 7 hour shift and was most likely the top earner instead of just top 5.

I tend to bring home $1000-$1500 (which again means I grossed around $2000-$2500) once or twice a month, but the $500 mark seems to be the most common take-home pay from a good shift. It's where I feel like I got my money's worth from the night's work.

It really depends on what club I'm working at. At one I might be excited to leave with $300, and at another I might consider $700 good but really won't feel satisfied until I hit $1000 (not that that happens all the time, but for some reason I feel like it should ).

I think we need to be careful not to assume everyone should have the same earning expectations. There are so many factors that play into earning potential that we have limited or no control over. If I am working a club where I know I average $200, I'll drive myself crazy trying to hold my earnings to the same standard as if I was at a club where $1000 (or hell, even $500) is possible. Goals are good, but it sucks to try and reach for something that just isn't possible. Definitely not good for your self-esteem. If what one girl considers a good night is good to her, then that's all that matters.

    ^Thank you Sierra, well-stated.
“The irony of commitment is that it's deeply liberating -- in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around like rational hesitation. For the record I am one of those girls "happy" to leave with $500 a night. I work at one of the nicer clubs in our area & am one of the clubs top earners. I disagree with the mindset that all dancers deserve more just because they are dancers; I am a businesswoman & that's the mindset I take in a commission job I know I have my slow nights like 300ish but I also like 4 nights in a row this week cleared over 700 a night. If more girls went to work with a business approach instead of "I deserve" attitude & arn't going to be happy with 500, they would be able to mentally & emotionally do this job fulltime. One of the reasons I think burnout is so high are the unrealistic expectations girls put on themselves.

$2200 but really it has to be a combination of how I feel on the inside too, If i feel like I didn't have to put up with a lot of shit but made that much then that is a good night.

    Agreed so hard.

I mean jeeze, I only pay $155 in rent where i live (plus have no kids, split a car w/ my partner, etc.)

"Good" $ depends on the shift and whatnot but generally the "high end" of my earnings has been around $500-$600. Never broken $1000, even though I've been dancing for about 3-4 yrs at the best club in my area.

Im not gonna beat myself up about it tho, cuz I do my best and put a lot of work into my look and hustle and $1000 isn't super easy to break around here.

If more girls went to work with a business approach instead of "I deserve" attitude & arn't going to be happy with 500, they would be able to mentally & emotionally do this job fulltime. One of the reasons I think burnout is so high are the unrealistic expectations girls put on themselves.
very much agree! i think a lot of girls who just do not enjoy the work at all, come in and pretty much say " i hate this job, so i'd better be earning 3,000 a night for this shit, because i deserve it being with these assholes and getting naked!" and because they remember or hear of the good old days where dancer did earn that much before the economy went south, and hundreds more girls poured in because they couldn't find jobs, and tons of extras were being performed for the same price. stripping has suffered along with the rest of the economy and i think (hope) most people realize that. its work just like any other job, not something where you march in and receive hundreds. i enjoy this job, im grateful that i earn more than i ever could with a vanilla job (even when its lower than it used to be).. i think its important not to strip with the wrong mindset, and not to have unrealistic expectations you put on yourself. my self worth/self respect/ etc is more than ANY guy could ever pay for, those are two totally different things. im happy with 5 or 6 hundred a shift because my bills are extremely low. im able to pay for everything with that, and to save hundreds too. if i needed to earn more, i could, but i feel that my mental state is more important than putting a ton of pressure on myself, because i am planning on doing this long-term while eventually going to school.
