um anorexia is a real disease that is not defined by the amount one eats or how much they weigh but their relationship with food. I have a healthy body and a healthy relationship with food. I eat when im hungry, stop when im full, eat more on active days, and dont binge eat or feel shame after eating. I used to eat 2000 cal because that is what people say is normal but it was too much. I was anemic, medically overweight, and all the food made me too lethargic to function. now im at a healthy weight, and much happier. anorexia is a serious thing and shouldnt be thrown around so carelessly.
unbeleavable-although I usually eat a little over 1000, a 700 cal day is usually an entire box of strawberries, a cucumber and tomato salad with pistachios, avocado and shredded cheese (this usually keeps me full for 5+ hours since cucumbers and tomatoes are so massive) served with baked tilapia or salmon, with fresh cilantro and lemon juice, and later spinach noodles with chicken and a creamy sauce (usually made with sour cream and heavy cream), with fresh spinach, mushrooms, and asparagus mixed in too. lots of green tea and water. anyway, 700 cal is a ton of food if you cook everything and eat a lot of plants. aside from cheese I dont eat dairy (intolerant) and gluten (also intolerant) which is where I think a lot of people get that extra 1000 cal each day. theres no nutritional value to most bread and if you are maintaining at a healthy weight than obviously you dont need the extra calories just for the sake of eating calories so I know im not missing anything. in addition to the food I mentioned, I usually also have an ounce of almonds, some wine, and/or a much smaller salad of fresh mozarella, tomato, and avocado with champagne vinaigrette as a snack. its really a ton of food. i usually eat dinner while watching a movie because it takes so long to finish that much.
anyway, just wanted to give some other perspective.

there is no magical number for anyone. just like there is unhealthy undereating there is unhealthy overeating.
gigi, if you havent recently you should go get some bloodwork done to check your thyroid, vitamin levels, etc. especially if you think you dont eat enough and change your diet dramatically.
