    Default Banished

I got banished from my home club while I was out on maternity... They couldn't even tell me themselves they had someone relay the message, when I tried to talk to them they just completely blew me off.... :< I wish there was something I could do to them but I don't suppose there is... I hadn't even worked there for months when it happened... Argh I'm just so frustrated and now I'm desperate looking for a new job altogether or a new club far away. It was the only one near me (Cincinnati, OH)

It's been so long since I've done an audition (2-3 years) plus I've just had a baby so I'm not in the best of shape either =/ going back to my home club was one thing but now needing to find a new one is a while different animal.

I've been putting in application after application for a "real" job to no avail. My newborn will be 2 months old soon and I am completely out of savings, I do have food stamps and a tiny government assistance but not enough to survive on by any means (living and caring for him by myself).

I guess I'm just looking for some help, hints, suggestions, guidance, support for getting back into the industry now postpartum.... **so frustrated/needs hugs**

A long time ago, I didn't have much success with it... I probably went into it the wrong way... is it hard, I just loved dancing so, actually dancing, but I'd be willing to give it another go

It's a tough vanilla job market right now, so I'd focus more on using your network to land a job than sending out resumes - you'll have much better luck using an in than just replying to job postings that hundreds of other people are also replying to. If you're not picky, I recommend applying to a call centre though. Their high turnover means they're always hiring and they tend to pay over minimum wage and have fairly flexible scheduling. Not ideal for the long-term, but certainly a viable option while you look for other work.

How far is the next closest club? Is it a manageable commute?

They fired my bf who was managing at another club and I got banished just for association, the douche-bag owner nor manager could not even have the balls enough to tell me themselves.

    ---

The next closest clubs are about an hour away, and I don't feel comfortable making the drive until I feel like I'm in shape enough and I get AAA; and I have no network =/ I'll have to look into this call centre though

I'm really sorry to hear about your predicament Questella. Is there any chance you can go to your old club and talk to the manager? I've found managers can be a little bit hot headed and irrational but if you are polite and sweet and stroke their ego there's a good chance they will let you come back.

As far as a vanilla job is concerned pull on all your contacts, ask all your friends/ relatives if there are any openings where they work.

for a Vanilla job have you thought of going through a job program with the state, if you already get food stamps that office should be able to help you, also if you just heard from word of mouth that you are fired, i would go in and talk to the manager

So sorry you had to go through that. I'm currently expecting in June, and I'm guessing I'll need at least a few months, if not more, to recover my body once little man is here. And just praying something like a C-section doesn't happen, but at least there is good body make up for that. Anyway, I'm totally going to have to get a vanilla job until I have enough to relocate and buy new stripper gear. Unless a miracle happens and the clubs around here are actually worth it. Which would be nice but I doubt it. Have you tried any Temp Agencies? That's most likely what I'll end up doing.

Give yourself some time. I'm not expecting to regain my body, and have enough funds to relocate for about a year or two. Your baby is only two months old! Give yourself a break and make your goals a little more realistic. I think if I put my mind to it I could be back in the industry sooner than two years, but giving myself that much time definitely takes the pressure off. I'm also not picky about vanilla jobs, so that also helps. I just need to learn better money management skills lol.

This happened to me, but I wasn't preggers, I had to have intensive surgery to have a fibroid removed from on top of my uterus. The surgery took 3 hrs, was in the hospital 3 days, was not allowed to drive for two weeks.

My club knew about my upcoming surgery. I was honest with them. It was a small club that I commuted nearly an hour to get to. There were dancers there that didn't like me. I did fairly well. However, I got the call a few days after my surgery from management telling me they couldn't fit me into their schedule anymore and didn't have time to wait for my recovery. This was less than a month after a Christmas party there in which they gave all the dancers a nice bottle of champagne & a cash bonus! (This was over 10 yrs. ago when dancers were often times treated like real people employees).

I also have no idea what happened. There were some ugly ass bitches working there. I did pretty well. But I never went back. I just ended up going to another club that was actually closer. I had gained a bit of weight due to my inactivity, luckily my scar was below my bikini line, but my skin did swell above and below it for a while. I just didn't dance at nude clubs.

Back to the OP: Get your AAA card, a baby sitter (family member) to watch your little one and check out the clubs a ways away from you. The call center is also a good idea. Btw, is this BF of yours helping you in any way? Also, this is just my .02, but don't get into relationships with guys that work for the club. It rarely ends well. I've done it once. Was engaged to a club owner for a year. He broke my heart very deeply. It's been years. I'm happily married to another person, but can never forget about the club owner.

When I wrote "family member", I meant for that to be a question. Not like only a family member should watch your kid. Although at two months, I would probably go that route.

Well, no one likes it, but have you thought about working in fast food till you feel your shape is back? I had a mental break down and the thought of walking into a club would...well it didn't send me into fits, but it's hard to put in words. Let's just say I could not even think about going back to dancing in ANY club. I could not get a job to save my life so I flipped burgers and whatever side work I could find singing and dancing or other bullshit gigs like sewing up holes in costumes. I am able to dance again, but I might have been homeless had it not been for Micky D's.
