Default Time Warner Cable....Questions before signing a contract for internet to use for cam

    Hey,
I'm about to sign up with Time Warner Cable, and am kind of limited with who I can go with. However, they're the fastest.
However, I'm seeing that they want 12 month contracts. When did this start? I only need it for six months so I'm worried about
having to break the contract and having to pay a bunch. Any info on this?

Also, here are my options (and we all know internet sometimes isn't actually what they say-- I had AT&T once and my speeds were like a third
of what was promised in the contract):

up to 50 down/ up to 5 up
up to 30 down/ up to 5 up
up to 20 down/ up to 2 up

Obviously I'd want the fastest one but that's like $80 plus tax a month. So I'm going to need to make some money before being comfortable committing to that.

I don't cam that often but would like to cam more.

Should I just do the 30/5 option because that's fast enough? Or go whole hog with the 50/5?

The upload speed is what matters when camming. So it's pointless to pay for the 50 down package if the upload is the same.

I'm not sure about their contracts, you would probably need to call them and ask if they have any 6 month or even month to month contracts. Usually the shorter the contract the more the monthly cost.

Hmm...contracts are news to me! Ive always seen 12 mth contracts on their commercials etc,but Ive been with them for yrs and Ive never signed a single one yet..

Ive had all 3 packages,Im with the highest now bc even though it states its UP to 5 up (meaning it can be at 2 up and theres nothing you can do about it) on the middle one,i was rarely breaking above 2.5.Once I upgraded to the business class (the highest one) my upload is always atleast 5 - and even though the dl doesnt matter at all,its nice that its always 100 down, even 1 TB down when im using the ethernet cable. It does depend on your area,so Id def talk to ppl that have those packages near you,if thats at all possible.

I actually HATE TW,they rip me off every chance they get but theyre the fastest and pretty much one of the only options in my area so Im stuck with them.If you can get Verizon Fios by any chance,Ive heard thats def the way to go!

Yup. I talked to one of their phone reps today and a different internet service's phone rep
and both were SO high pressured and SO pissed I wasn't going to sign up right that second.

Is there anyway you could transfer service when you move so you can do the 12 month price?

    I don't know.where I'm moving next so no guarantee I could.
Plus if they turn out to be a crappy company I'd hate to be stuck with them.

Time Warner is what I use, its the fastest upload speed out where I live I can get, its been pretty good so far and my 12 month contract will be up in a few months, but 24 hour phone support is great, if you don't want to call them, they have live online support and email support as well, the one time I had a modem problem they came out and fixed it for free.

I have Time Warner Broadband and the speed is fast,I love it.It is weird too me that you have to sign a contract, are you sure you are signing up directly with TW and not a Sub-provider?
