    Default Reading list

I am not very knowledgeable about personal finances, stocks, any of that. After a childhood of watching my mother spend, spend, spend away a trust fund till it dissolved and left her in a sea of financial woes, I am very interested in making smart financial choices. I am the type of person who really needs to understand theories behind what makes something "smart" though, so I'm ready to do some homework.

As such, does anyone have any books, websites, YouTube channels, TED talks, etc that they'd like to recommend?

I have nothing to contribute as I'm also not very knowledgeable about stocks, investments, and other, more passive ways of generating income, but I just wanted to subscribe to what will hopefully become a very informative thread. Thanks for starting it!

^Thank you. I thought I read something similar recently, but I must have missed it when rechecking. Hopefully some more posters will chime in on either thread.

I think the book, "The Millionaire Next Door" is good.

This is one of my favorite books, so worth the read.

The Lazy Investor and The Wealthy Barber Returns are really great too. Just a heads' up, the books focus on Canadian finances and investing, but they would be a good starting point for anyone in North America anyhow.
Lot's of tips on saving and earning divends off of investments too
