    Default Guys pushing Drinks

I read through some of the post already suggesting telling the bartender to make drinks a virgin; however, I work at a BYOB club. I recently stopped drinking so much at work because it was becoming a problem. So I bring in a couple of beers and that's all I'll drink, it's just enough to get tipsy then I'm done.
Twice tonight guys were hard core pushing shots and vodka on me. "I wanna remember the night besided I don't need to drink to think your hot." They kept pushing and pushing. I already had a beer in my hand they wanted me to get stupid drunk with them. The guy said, "Oh you don't wanna party with us." At that point I walked away...I don't know what else I could have done, it was almost closing time and I didn't feel like explaining the obvious reasons why I don't want to take shots before driving home shortly to the stupid man-child.
Any suggestions. I mean I said No twice. I guess I could have told him I was a alcholic and make him look like shit in front of his friends just for fun.
How do you deal with "Party guys" when it's not in your best interest " without losing the "cool factor."

Just tell them you're on antibiotics or something and anything harder than a couple of beers knocks you for a loop.

I always just say I just had a shot in back with someone else.

In my experience, the guys who are THAT pushy about you having drinks aren't there to spend; they just want a hot drinking buddy to maybe give them free/a couple of extra friendly dances. Not worth the effort, IMO.

Not to be a thread jack- but I don't drink when I work and this bar that was not BYOB where I was working had only 1 customer in it, and after I sat down and talked to him for a bit and was getting to closing him, he insisted on buying me a drink drink. I usually just drink cranberry juice, so I said "Sure! I'll have a crantini please." Before the waitress came to take the order, I went and told the bartender that I would not be drinking alcohol. Anyways, the customer ended up going directly to the bar to order my drink. I took a sip and almost spit it out, you know what? The bartender had put alcohol in it anyways! She said that the customer was watching her make it and she had no choice. I suggested that I could have been allergic to alcohol and had a problem. Anyways, since I had to pretend I was drinking it because the customer REALLY wanted me to have a drink drink, he caught on and left. I felt let down not being able to close him on anything, but after reading this thread I don't feel like I really missed out on anything.

I don't drink at all when I'm at work. If ppl ask I tell them I'm clumsy enough as it is - I'm perfectly capable of falling off the pole w/ no added help. As others have stated, customers who are that pushy aren't worth the stress, get up & leave. If they go from pushy to downright nasty then give them a taste of their own medicine, like you said, tell them you're a recovering alcoholic & make them feel bad.

I'm wary of customers who want to get my drink and bring it back from the bar instead of having the waitress bring it. I have known dancers who were drugged that way.

If a customer can't take you saying "No" about a drink, will they take you saying "No" about groping you in a lap dance? Licking you? Making you come home with them? Following your car after work?
A customer who ignores me when I say "No" to them is and INSTANT red flag. Avoid that kind of entitled douchebag at all costs.

Just act buzzed & tell them you have already been drinking & are trying to pace yourself so that you don't get in trouble. My friend has recently cut back on drinking at work & one of our regulars actually said it made him feel weird to get drunk in front of her & wouldn't go to VIP!

Any customer that's that pushy about wanting you to drink should probably be avoided. Especially if these customers aren't spending money on anything but alcohol..and you say you work at a BYOB club? That means he probably hasn't actually spent ANYTHING inside the club, and by trying to get you drunk, he's hoping that he'll get to keep you around for free, and maybe even try to convince you to go somewhere with him after work. Guys like this just don't get our industry. I don't understand it--if he's just wanting to get some random chick drunk and go home and fuck her, why wouldn't he just go to a regular bar or club? It would be much more likely to work there than at a strip club.

When I'm not drinking, I always just say "I'm a super lightweight and just did two shots! Lets do some dances first and then do a shot otherwise I'll fall on my face!"
If they say no then I move on, but usually they agree and after the dances I either ditch 'em or do a fake shot.

Some clubs sell fake shots. I'm assuming this is what she means. Lol
“The irony of commitment is that it's deeply liberating -- in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around like rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life.”

I would just say you don't drink, period, that you live a dry life. If they can't respect no to that, they won't respect no in anything else.
A guy that insists either wants a drinking buddy (not dances) or has some power/control issues (he wants to be in control of convincing you to drink).

I've also seen a girl pretend to take her shot and while everyone was yahooing and doing that "Whoo!" head shake thing after, dumped it casually in her water glass. She also handed another one behind her back to the DJ who was standing there. Not feasible a lot of the time, but creative ways to get out of it!

There was a regular at my last club that had tons of money, would come in and buy all the girls shots daily, and got pretty peeved when I refused mine. He's apparently a 20-something self-made millionaire and his ego did NOT like being told "no", especially by a stripper -eye roll- He proceeded to taunt me with what a lame-o I was and how uptight I must be. This is the kind of dude the "power trip" thing is referring to. I'm sure he would have been gropy and verbally abusive during dances as well, so I walked away despite his mega bucks.

Sorry, I should have elaborated! the club I work at has a known fake shot. If I want fake drinks I always tell the bartender to watch for 'Skyy and Redbull' and see if it's for me and then make it all Redbull if so.
