miss1dancypants I honestly would never pay $100+ for a synthetic wig, your best bet is to get a human hair lace front wig which some places sell just under or at $200, or a lace wig that looks just like the one you want but cheaper in price. Check out
www.lhboutique.com or, do some more research. If you opt to get a synthetic, just make sure it's a lace frontal and has futura fiber or curling/flat iron safe. There are some awesome realistic looking synthetic lace frontals that won't cost you an arm and a leg. Here's a page full of long synthetic wigs that are more reasonably priced and you just choose your color.

www.samsbeauty.com they have really cheap prices and nice wigs as they get them from all the brands. Just rest assured that their shipping can take a while unless you're paying for next day, and even then they can take forever to process.
As for tapering it down, you can use hair glue (for lace fronts) or tape. Usually the combs are secure enough to do the trick. Just wear a nude stocking cap underneath and use the combs and back strap to secure it, if you aren't 100% sure that it's enough, tape or glue the lace as well as strap and use the combs and or bobby pins. To make it look more natural, you just gotta get one that looks good on you. If your freaking out about how it sits, a lacefront is good because it has lace around the edges (outsourced theater wigs) where you can part it so it looks like your skin. If you end up getting one that's lighter or darker, adding light foundation, the color of your scalp will help with blending if you're parting it. Also, one that has a good 1"+ of lace looks natural. Good luck.
