It depends on the club you work at. Most, if not all, of the clubs in my area (all small clubs) won't let a customer pay for dances with plastic at all--instead he's directed towards the ATM, which is great for debit cards or credit cards where they know their pin, but absolutely fucking useless if they have corporate credit cards. Most clubs at least offer cash advances, though. With bigger clubs, it depends. I've heard of some giving him funny money, but most of what I've heard is that they keep the receipts and then give you cash, minus whatever cut or fees they take, when you cash out at the end of the night.
The clubs I've worked at with funny money have had the customer "buy" the funny money, for a fee. The customer then gives it to a dancer for dances, VIP, tips, whatever. The dancer trades them in for cash, also for a fee. The clubs track how much each dancer traded in, and issues a 1099 come tax time.
So in my experience funny money is a GREAT deal for the club, a crappy deal for everyone else. I don't turn it down when offered, of course, but I recommend the ATM first. The nice thing about funny money though is that customers don't feel so attached to it; it doesn't feel as much like they're spending Real Money. Kinda like how you buy tickets at a fair to trade for food/rides/games/etc. You're more likely to spend the tickets than Real Money!
I wish I worked at one of those clubs that had the little credit card machine in the actual private rooms, so the guy can just swipe as he goes, or swipe all at once...I find that customers seem much more willing to spend on plastic than spend cash. With cash, you see exactly how much money you're spending; it's a tangible thing you're very aware of. But with plastic it's just a number on a statement. Especially when it's one of those corporate cards...they don't give a flying fuck how much they spend.
