Tired How long did it take you to feel adjusted to dancing

How long before the soreness stops?...I'm sure this depends on your club and yourself but just to give you an idea I have only worked 2 shifts this is my 3rd tonight and I plan to work again Friday and Saturday because after tonight I feel I may be in traction. My club is urban so there is a lot of booty shaking which means sore thighs and lots of pole work and floorwork so I don't dance slow and sensual at least not for more than one song and my knees and back are sore and my back is even bruising. I went in early last night and again tonight to get some practice in so I won't feel so HORRIBLY misplaced on stage next to the superstars and flying strippers. They all look so fluid, comfortable and natural. I look like a lost mime who should've kept her day job. Last night I focused on the pole and tonight I plan to work on floorwork since I realize that fills a lot of time between twerking (booty shaking) which wears me out and since I fail at being sexy and I get nervous unsure and stiff. For dancers who are beyond the limping to a cab after a shift or barely being able to do another lapdance from being so fatigued and weren't sure how to accomplish "sexy": how long before you were adjusted and how much did you practice?( I can't really count last night's fatigue since I hadn't eaten except once that morning, tonight im getting my protein and starch before I leave.) THANKS for reading my rant and answering my questions. Any other tips are great too!!!

I'd say about three weeks to get used to all pain. Don't worry, you'll get good in no time.

One word of advice: do not drink, that will dehydrate you!

It probably took me a few weeks also. I remember I could barely walk my legs were so sore! Don't worry it goes away as your body gets used to it It's totally normal to be in discomfort the first couple of weeks.

It's always taken me abt three wks to a month, when I've taken time off, to get back into 'stripper shape'. I do a lot of polework, as I've always found floorwork to feel unnatural & physically very uncomfortable. Having tender areas, like my knees which were previously damaged from sports injuries, may also affect your conditioning time. Also, as Jay12 said, stay away from alcohol as it will dehydrate you.

Id say the first month youre sore. For me, I move a little fast (booty club with all floorwork) and in the beginning I was working all the time. I thought my legs would fall off and now I am really loving my thighs. I cant believe my stamina now, but if I dont work for a while, say a week or two, those first couple days back I am slightly sore and get tired faster. Dont forget to stretch out every day, even if you dont go to work, and take care of your exhausted body when you get home. Put your feet up, use ice, hot bath, massage, and things like that so you are ready to go again tomorrow, it really makes a difference.

I would check out the 'really painful' thread in this forum that someone started up recently. I'd rather not double post the info, but for alot of us older dancers... we are always sore. Some of those things (like the epsom salt baths) make life much more tolerable.

I was more asking how long before you got more adjusted, right now I want to work more often but I suck at being sexy because I'm unsure of what to do and I'm always too sore after 2 consecutive shifts to work again. I just wanted to know how long this will affect my dancing

You just gotta "fake it till you make it" as far as figuring out what to do/what works best for you during dances and on stage etc. Watch the other girls a little bit, and you'll pick it up as you go along, I promise!!! Everybody is awkward at first. There's no shame in admitting that you're new to customers. When I was new, I felt SUPER awkward going up to customers to try to sell dances, one thing that really helped me was to pretty much use a "script." I would only talk to guys that were by themselves, or I would single out one guy in the group (don't try to talk to the whole group at once) and I would pretty much ask the same questions to every guy (So, where are you from, what do you do? Plans for the weekend?etc...) until the next song started and then I would say, "Well Joe, how about a dance this song?" It helped me to not be as afraid approaching guys since I knew what I was gonna say to them.
As far as the soreness goes, I think I was sore for the first month or so, working 3-4 days a week. My knees got SOO bruised up from doing floorwork and I just kept dancing through the pain, and now, I don't ever get bruises or even get sore even. Your body will get used to it!
