    Default Hepatitis B vaccine

I had a spot on my vulva that I got paranoid about so I've been for a check to make sure it's not something sinister, Dr told me she's almost 100% sure It's not herpes and is 100% sure I don't have warts (I was mega paranoid about that seeing as I seem prone to getting lumps and bumps on my bits, and she took a smear test too as I was due one. She did however say that due to my job, I may want to be vaccinated against Hep B. She said she wasn't able to offer it to everybody but only those she thinks are at a larger risk of being exposed to the virus, than the general population.
    Anybody else been offered this?
I'm wary about it-I've heard the vaccine can increase the risks of Multiple Scerosis, Osteoporosis and some other things as well as having bad but not dangerous side effects. What do you guys think?
Are we more prone to contracting Hep B?
I suppose a few guys have tried to bite my nipples and stuff... But even when they've succeeded its never been anywhere near hard enough to draw blood.. I'm just not sure.. In a way I feel privileged to have been offered it as Hep B is a terrible illness but also, I'm not sure I want to do it. It's a lengthy process as well, three jabs over a course of a year I think then a test for immunity at the end of the course...

got the vaccine back in 2006 and did not have any problems with it, I got it at the travel clinic before going to brazil. Here is a link to the vaccine info on the cdc website.

I recently finished the Hep A/Hep B series in Nevada because it is mandatory in Las Vegas to work in a tattoo shop/get your operators licence. Where I grew up in Am. Samoa it was highly recommended b/c Hep B is a problem there. I have had no problems with the vaccine, though you will be mindful that is a 3-shot series, done over the course of about 8 months, so it is important to stay on schedule.

I'm going to start my hep a/b next week in preparation for travelling around this summer. I think you should get it, it's given to kids in school now in north america, my dr was shocked i hadn't been vaccinated for hep b already. My mom was very paranoid of this shot when I was in school. I agree with your dr and think you are more likely to be exposed than the general population, that goes for a lot of dieseases though as dancers work in very close contact with the customers, heck, I've even heard of a few people getting it from lemon or lime slices at bars because the bartender sliced his finger open or something and just kept going/didn't notice etc. It's very contagious and pretty easy to get, espescially outside of developed countries if you plan to travel anywhere

I got it when I was going into high school ages ago & I'm fine. It was mandatory for public school systems. Notta biggie, you'll be fine. It didn't even hurt & I'm terrified of medical needles.
