Default Do strip clubs ever really have "enough" dancers on a shift?

I went to audition to be a dancer at The Clermont Lounge in Atlanta twice. The first time, I went to audition for the night shift, but was told by the house mom that she was unable to hire any dancers at the time because there were already so many dancers on night shift, and that I should come back and audition for the day shift. When I went to audition for the day shift, the house mom for day shift also told me that she was unable to hire at the time because she had enough dancers on day shift and that the business was slow because of the event taking place during that time of the year (it was the day after elections last year). Then she told me that I could try coming back in a few weeks when people stop talking about the elections.

Is this ever really the case at a strip club or did the house moms just tell me this because they simply didn't want to hire me?

Could quite easily be genuine-there's a 'waiting list' at the club I usually work at.

They limited dancers in my old club, especially on slow days. I think it's the sign of a good club that they care about the wealth being shared fairly.I say go back in a few weeks

This. Some clubs never have "enough" and you'll see 20+ girls standing around the bar and 5 customers sitting and looking around nervously. That's bad for the dancers because it doesn't breed an atmosphere that's conducive to making money.

That said, it's very likely this house mom is blowing you off for whatever reason. You can certainly try again later (third time's a charm, right?), but I'd just go try out another club, personally. Good luck!

The Clermont doesn't really make it's money off dancers in the same way that alot of other clubs do. It is not uncommon at all for them to only have 4 girls on a Tuesday night (and that is one of their draw nights, considering that it is karaoke). However, I would say that the clientele there probably would not support much more than that. It is much more of a hangout kind of bar than a hustle club.

I think it's good for most clubs to have a limit on how many dancers there are. Unless you're in a big, popular club there's no need for tons of girls. I go into work assuming only 1/2 the customers will have money, and only 1/2 of them are going to do more than buy drinks. Yes, variety is good, but not if the girls can't make money.

In my club I wish they WOULD put a limit on how many dancers there are. It irks me to go in on Friday and Saturday when there are 25 girls working when we only need about 15. On a GOOD night my club averages 200 lapdances total. So with 15 dancers that would be an average of 13 dances each, with 25 it's 8. That would be a $75 difference of income and in my club that's a big difference. I assume 1/4 of the girls aren't going to make squat (EVERYONE has a bad night here and there, plus the new girls that don't know how to hustle yet). If we assume that, then it's 15 dancers with 16 dances each or 25 with 10 dances, a $90 difference.

Money makes a dancer happy which makes them come back. Customers want happy strippers. It's a sign of good management when they know how their dancer to paying customer ratio works so that both the bar and dancers make money. I would suggest trying a different club for now and trying to audition again later. Call every so often to see if they have started taking new girls if you live further from the club. Dancer turnover is usually pretty high. (I took a 5 month break from my club and when I came back I only knew 3 of the girls there) Good luck in the meantime.

I've never been to Atlanta clubs, so I can't say for sure, but some clubs I've worked at generally only have 1 or 2 black girls allowed working a shift at a time, so there is somewhat of a waiting list for them and everyone else can pretty much just show up.
I guess it sounds racist, alot of clubs especially in Quebec have asked me right off the bat if I was black when I called the club to ask if I could come in and work.
This might be the main reason why you're getting blown off nicely, however there is a chance that the house moms are being homest and they just have too many girls.
Personally, I agree with the OP, just go and try another club. Hope it works out ; )

This is a 'business model' decision that is necessary to A. assure a lucrative ratio of dancers to customers, B. maintain a positive club 'vibe', C. limit the amount of pressure placed on club customers, and D. maintain / increase the 'quality' of dancers working at the club.

It's true that when the economy first started swooning in a big way a few years back that some ( arguably short-sighted ) clubowners began to look less at club customers with less money to spend, and began to look more at dancers and their house / stage fees, as the primary source of club profits. However, as more and more time passed, those ( short-sighted ) clubowners were forced to deal with the consequences i.e. top notch dancers won't continue to work for low earnings -> big spending customers won't come to clubs that don't offer top notch dancers -> club customers who DO have money to spend don't enjoy being 'assaulted' by financially desparate dancers, etc.
