    Default Fundraiser?

I was just reading about the Exotic Dancers for Cancer event that has been 9 times running in BC (I'm sure our Canadian members will have heard of it!) and I seriously would love if a club I worked at did something like this.

Would you girls participate if there was a meaningful fundraiser hosted at your club? Not sure the logistics behind donations, whether a cut of your dance money would go towards it, just the cover charge, or some separate means of fundraising (special stage sets with multiple girls, etc).

I'd love to coordinate something like this at my club/surrounding clubs! However, I'm worried there wouldn't be much support from dancers/staff due to the fact that a lot of people in this business have a But that's MY money... sort of mentality. Not to mention the organizations that the club originally wanted to donate to wouldn't take the money (though there are smaller/more kickass ones that would).
“The irony of commitment is that it's deeply liberating -- in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around like rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life.”

It's a good way for clubs to get positive publicity. They also do it in Alberta, I did one happily at a club I worked at pretty often then the agency forced me (seriously, they didn't let me say no) to go do another free show at another club I'd never worked at before on the other side of town that cost me $60 in cab fares and took me out of the club I was actually working at for 2 hours. Then they cut my show price at the end of the week without telling me (not to donate, just to pay me less). They also took away tips customers left for me from lapdances to donate without telling me.

I'm all for the charity thing but I don't steal money from me. I like the idea but disagree with how some clubs execute it.

Every year around Christmas at my home club we raise money to donate to toys for tots (or something like that).
Once a night we do "donation dances" which are a minimum of $10. I can't remember if its one song or two, but they are short songs and many girls just do table or air dances. Someone walks around with a bucket to collect the money. When I've been on bucket duty I would also ask each and every guy if they would like to make a donation to the charity.

I don't mind it, it only happens once a night and doesn't take very long. We raise a lot of money for a good cause, and I'm down with that.

I don't think it would be? It probably depends on the structure of the event, but I would imagine you just don't claim whatever chunk of your earnings goes towards charity at all. For a one-time thing, I don't think it'd be that big of a deal. Personally, for a cause I believed in, I'd be willing to work a night and take home nothing, but I'm not sure everyone would be convinced of that.

I think the club would likely use the fundraiser to hike door fees, raise publicity and push over-priced specialized merchandise (selling shirts that would normally be $10 for $40, or whatever). Donate half of what they would make off of champagne in Champagne Rooms, to potentially help the girls sell more, thereby making more for the charity, the girls and the club (the profit margins on champagne are ridiculous anyway). That way the club is making money, too. Then maybe every hour of the evening have a two song set for charity or something, similar to what Sierra's club did for their fundraiser.

One of the clubs in my city did something like this last Christmas. If a customer brought in a toy, they got a free table dance. It's a nice way for the club to get free publicity, but it'd be ideal if they were actually doing some sort of donating instead of making the dancers eat the entire cost. Even when it's "optional," is anyone actually going to be the bitch that refuses to give a free table dance for charity?

I worked at a club once that did a patriotic theme night to raise money for the families of the fireman killed in 9/11. We basically did like lap dance "auctions" so the dancer still made her $20; 100% of every dollar over it went to the charity. Had raffles for VIP memberships too. We had a photoshoot a few weeks before so the girls who wanted to get custom patriotic 8x10's printed up to sell that night to increase their dance sales. Honestly it was super successful & the girls made great $$, we raised over 5k that weekend for the charity & got lots of letters from the family's the $$ was given to thanking us.

everytime a club ive been at has advertised a charity dance nobody gets it. it turns out that talking about cancer or orphans really kills boners.

I would never do a night long charity event. I'd rather donate my money to the charity of my choice at my leisure than spend a night doing half priced vips. not to mention the vast majority of sc managers are shady and/or idiots so I wouldnt trust them to make the donation or choose a legit charity. theyd probably donate 1/4 of the $$ to some charity their buddy manages that also embezzles $$.
