Default Help! Broken Toenails won't grow out

I broke both my big toenails halfway down dancing at my club (I assume); I'd hurt my toes like scraping the polish from doing spins on our spinning pole, but never broke not one, but two, big toenails in my life!

I'm sure there's an underlying issue like calcium deficiency and I was concerned I hadn't been lotioning and caring for my feet enough.

    But....

Now that the damage is done, how can I repair it? These damn nails won't grow out like fingernails. I wanted to wait for nails to grow in and cut off dead part, but I swear it hasn't gained a millimeter of length since breaking 6-8 weeks ago. Is there a way to stimulate nail growth? I'm thinking of seeing a podiatrist, but I'm not even sure what they can do for me.

I'm gonna stick with closed toed shoes (which I hate cause it traps my foot sweat) but I still have to take the shoes off for lap dances and VIP. I'm very squeamish and just want these nails to grow out and fall off already.

What ever you do, don't try to cover up your toes with glue-on fake nails. I know they make them for toes now but they will mess up your natural nails something fierce!

Manicurist by trade for a very very very VERY long time. If you wish to PM a photo of your big toes I can usually come up with a remedy.

Covering them w acrylic is not a good option since you are a dancer, it will produce a fungi between the natural nail and acrylic leaving the nail stained that greenish/black color.

Right now I can say gel polish aka Shellac will help them not break. It is a form of gel made into a polish that cures under a light and usually does not break, chip or cause fungi bc it is a polish just a bit stronger but not as strong as actual gel products.

Another good stimulant for growth is nailtiques I highly recommend step2 for your issue. You apply one time daily and remove once a week. Since it is clear there is no drying time. Do not waste money on the look a like brands. I think Sephora carries this.

I have done a lot work with feet and most clients say they wish they found me before spending money on podiatrist. Manicurist know just as much without the med degree bc we deal with it on a daily. *as long as the manicurist is a professional

if you do the shellac/gel polish route here is what you need to stay away from

Do not allow the tech to FILE top of the nail, you will loose nail layer by layer and have a worse problem
    ALSO
THERE IS NO REASON for the nail tech to say the only way to remove the product is to file it off, that is a lie. You will want to soak cotton ball with ACETONE and place it on top of the nail, within 10 mins the gel polish/shellac will slide off and since this is your toes it is super easy to do while watching TV or something when you are sitting down.

Make sure the nail is "capped" when the product is applied. (the polish is to cover the free edge or what you have left of a free edge)

You can do all this at home as well. I recently bought this for my kid who has terrible toe nails bc of soccer. Her toenails grew out after using this.
<--- this is a step by step vid how to apply. you can skip over the cuticle part but it shows from start to finish of how to apply shellac/gel polish

It is a at home kit and is pricey but is well worth it if this is something you can do.(some ppl can not polish their toes)

I need to add that the shellac or gel polish glows under UV so if you do not like that look, do not do it.

Witchcraft. It is a Canadian product I order from ebay and even makes my paper thin nails strong as steel.
