    Default Ugh! Trouble with dancing

Okay I've been practicing lap dances for a while with no person in the chair. I've practiced my stripping and worked on talking like a stripper.

I've also done strip teases for my boyfriend through skype. I look at those as air dances. Haha.

Anyways, so we're together in person and I give him a lap dance, and it sucks. Like really, really badly. I have no idea why it wasn't working.

So I did another lap dance through skype (because we're long distance with occasional visits) and I was back to being sexy as hell.

Was it nerves? Am I just so used to doing it without a person that when I get a person I'm just not as good? Any tips?

you'll be awkward at first trying to figure out how to lean, put pressure, sit and keep balanced.
That's normal. Part of it may be that there is a human being in front of you as well so it's
more "real" and you'll be more self-critical while dancing and thus be worse at it.

It will just take practicing with a person and that comes in the club. Just tell them up front that you're
    new to contact lap dances.

It'll take time. It's easy to be sexy when you're alone, but with actual PEOPLE right in front of you-well, it can be a little nerve racking. But the more you practice with actual people the easier it'll be. And each person you dance for you'll dance a little differently for. If you're honest and tell them you're new, normally they'll cut you some slack, or give you tips on how to do better. Beware with that though-some customers prey on new strippers and will try to take advantage of you.

I've never been able to give a lap dance to an SO without feeling awkward as hell, so that could be it if you're fine with the Skype barrier. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. EVERY dancer is awkward during their first few dances, but you'll catch on. It sounds like you're over-preparing since you're even worried about "talking like a stripper" (wtf does this even mean?), and it's truly not that complicated. Just go audition already!

Ya I agree. Before I actually auditioned anywhere I way over prepared! I watched a bunch of videos and even took some pole classes. I'm sure some helped a little but pretty much when I first auditioned I was so nervous everything went out the window! You learn more as you go from actually experiencing it and I don't think that much preparation before you even audition will have a huge effect. When you actually work your first shift you'll see how other girls dance and talk to customers and there will probably be at least one experienced dancer who will give you some tips.

    Good luck!

so you haven't started yet? don't get nerved up and set expectations about "how strippers talk" or " how to give a great lap dance" until you get you start at your club. i have to drastically alter my style of lap dances for every new club i've been to. learn the rules, watch the other girls, and soon you will develop your own style and get way more comfortable and learn your own personal boundaries.

Lol thanks guys. I'm just super nervous and I feel like I need to prepare since I'm about as sexy as a tree. And by stripper voice I just meant practicing closing methods. In my other sales jobs I've found that using a certain voice and intonation gets me more sales so I've been trying to figure out how to possibly transfer that to the club.

So I guess your advice is to just go audition and see if I'm in? And possibly drink? lol I'm definitely a lot sexier and waaayyyyy more flirty after a few sips of vodka haha.

^Seriously, just audition already and get on with it. No amount of research or "practicing" will prepare you enough, it really is a learn by doing sort of thing. Besides, you may as well learn while making money.

I agree with the other posters, but I would not recommend drinking until after the audition! I auditioned today and I was soooooooo worried that they would not like me because of my height! I am 5'2. I did some similar things as the other girls, took classes and watched dvds, but I agree most with 22lligim that when you actually audition you are so nervous it all slips out of your brain! I thought I had to go in with a CD of my favorite songs, etc, and THAT held me back from auditioning. Reading the other posts on this website though gave me the confidence to do it. I also want to add that there were plenty of different girls, larger than me in weight, shorter than me in height, older than me in age, etc etc etc. So whatever you think that maybe you are lacking, just trust that if you feel sexy it will come out, and the people auditioning you will KNOW you are nervous and just probably looking to see if you have POTENTIAL to become a better dancer as you work.

For giving your boyfriend a lap dance, warm him and you up with some hot body shots! It will go smoother trust me!

Everyone is right get in the club and get to making money, you're just leaving it all in the custies wallets and other dancers garters sitting at home giving dances to empty chairs. Have you made anything pop up for the LazyBoy yet?

If you feel you have to prepare anything start by reading one of the threads that talks about getting used to the aches and pains. Have some of that stuff ready so you can survive them better when you start.
The only other thing to do to prepare is go to the club and watch the other girls, listen to them hustle, get a dance or two from someone you see that seems busier than the others.

Those are about the only things you can really do, just get in the damn club!

Trixxi , you're crazy girl. The club wants girls of all different types so that every cust can get what they're after when they come in. At least that's always been my understanding.
