Default Academic research: call for interviews (esp NYC)

Hi, SW. I am new to the forum, and was directed here by one of my friends, a former dancer and veteran activist. I'm a sex-positive sociologist and am interviewing female dancers for my dissertation, mostly in NYC. Generally I am looking to speak with women who've had at least two years+ experience in the field or in related work. I'm in NYC doing the interviews in the metro area mainly, but have been doing video chats outside of the region as well. I welcome any tips in finding interested women or NYC clubs that might be more researcher welcoming/friendly - I want to make sure I am not intrusive in my pursuits. (And if you think you might want to speak to me, I welcome this as well.) Thanks SW!

Man, there's a lot of people doing their dissertations/papers on stripping and coming on here to ask for help lately.

rsrchr - I'd recommend going into clubs in NYC and asking dancers in person. I'd also recommend narrowing down your research - as you probably know given that you've danced before, experience greatly varies across the country, so you can't really compare a dancer in NYC with a dancer in a small town in the midwest. You also can't compare the experience of a stripper to the experience of someone in "related work."

Ill just add this. Where the economy is bad, ( I mean the REAL unemployment, not the reported BS), the competition is fierce, many clubs are slow as hell at times, and more full contact is needed to make money.. its the nature of the business in this economy. You may find more bad attitudes, and more "extras" Dancer maria

Probably best to interview your subjects in person, and compensate them for their time.
