a pet, that is! My beloved bun died, & I'm so missing her..I want another, but now w/roomies, they're ok with it, but what if I have to move, & new roomies/land lord arent ok with a pet?
I was also considering a 'caged' put I nver caged,my bun, I mean like a guinea pig etc.

I find most landlords have issue with big pets, like cats and dogs. I could see new roommates not being cool with a pet roaming around the place though (ie. not caged).

i feel ya, i want a kitty sooo bad! i would wait til your living situation is more stable ( i assume you're still looking for a different apartment?), because you'd be faced with either giving up a great living situation or giving up your pet

I'd wait too-or adopt a pet that can be kept in a cage and just make the cage as large as possible!

Well I think most landlords won't care about a bunny... just don't specify if it's caged or not If someone told me they had one, I'd assume it was caged.
But yeah, guinea pigs, rats (they're super smart and good pets!), chinchillas, ferrets... none of those should be an issue.

I should explain, by 'not caged' I don't mean roaming loose, but, as my bunny was, confined to a specific corner area in my room, about 3' x 4'..
    Aww, you're so sweet Sugar!
With bunnies, a lot of people have issues thinking they smell, if they've been neutered (as all mine are, also paper/litter box trained) they have minimal/no smell

Selina is spot on. Landlords typically ask a lot of questions about cats and dogs, but they don't ask much about smaller animals. Still, don't mention your bunny's uncaged status to a potential landlord, just to be on the safe side. No need to make it an issue. Just be sure to check over the lease to be sure there aren't any specific pet requirements listed (I highly doubt there would be).

Enjoy your new little loved one! I wish all critters could have such a wonderful home as yours!

I'm not able to keep pets caged. A friend asked me to care for a caged pet bunny while she vacationed. OK! No Problem. A confused, trusting but uncaged bunny set out to explore...leaving rabbit pellets EVERYWHERE. Under the chair, under the sofa, along the wall. I don't like this. Still, a cute little bunny. Such a gentle creature and I think it likes me. Nighttime, in bed, a deep sense of sleep is falling over me. I sense the little bunny hippity hopping into the room on the wooden floor. Hey, it jumped up on bedside chair. Wow, it leaped across the span onto the bed. Wonderment, this little bunny burrowed under the covers down to the crook of my knees. What's this warm wet feeling?? *light-bulb* That cute little bunny just peed in my bed. Ever smell rabbit piss? I felt sad about locking the bunny back into its cage. OK. In three days your owner will return. Sorry for that little bunny. Damn, gotta get up for work in five hours. Wish I had a better couch.

Sounds like 1) it's not been neutered, which is very important, besides helping w/the smell & 2) not trained..mine was trained very well. Even when we moved (a few times) she always went on her papers. The only exception being, when I held her for extended lengths of time..even then she tried to 'tell' me she had to go by gently nipping, squirming.

Both your points are probably true. I'm unable to speak factually about that dear rabbit. The one lasting realization I have from my experience is that rabbits are sweet little creatures. They are more "loving" than most people realize. Here in the desert landscape of Phoenix there is no surprise seeing a rabbit foraging for food with chipmunks and quail. They coexist peacefully.

I feel for you! I just moved and can't have a pet atm (which I really want -to the point where upon meeting my new blind neighbour all I could muster up as a greeting was an "Oh, she's gorgeous!!!" to his chocolate Shar pei working doggie. Slightly rude and embarrassing by me lol!).

I had to give up my cat (my Mother gladly took him in) years ago due to moving interstate and not being allowed animal. It's hard, because a lot of places, especially in the city or apartments and flats won't allow it.

I think that a bunny or small pet i.e. a guinea pig, bunny or rat/mouse, bird wouldn't be an issue (especially if it's going to have it's own cage etc). Let us know how your adoption process goes !

    what about fostering?
That way you can help out, get the pet love, and be able to give them back.
