Default Payoneer issues- anyone else ever had this happen?

Hi all, I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who's had this happen. I've used my Payoneer card many times on many different things from restaurants, shopping, even bus tickets and never had an issue. Today I went to pay my phone bill (I have Virgin Mobile) and for some reason had the hardest time. It didn't go through and I spent quite a while on the phone with Virgin Mobile trying to figure out why and they basically couldn't tell me why. I called Payoneer to make sure I wasn't charged for it (and after a while I was credited the amount to my account) but the person I spoke to said that sometimes a certain vendor will have a problem processing a pre paid debit card. This has yet to happen to me and I'm afraid it may happen in the future with other purchases. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any specific places or purchases that may have a problem with pre paid transactions? I'm totally afraid of this happening again. I have to figure out an alternate way of paying my phone bill now ughh just what I needed.

I almost always take the money off my card over the first two days.
Some stuff I'll buy or pay for on the payoneer card, but cash is almost always
easier, and if I don't get to my phone place or whereever I was going to use the cash
I put it on my bank card (which you may not have.)

Wasn't there stories awhile back about people having money stolen off their payoneer card?
I like payoneer a lot but I don't trust leaving money on it for longer than a couple of days because I'm paranoid about that.

Ugh that's so frustrating! And its super scary to think I could lose my money! I just assumed I could use it as an alternative to a bank account- which I don't currently have due to some credit issues which I'm working to pay off- but that's just scary! Now with the card not working for certain transactions and especially if there is a chance my money could be taken I'm gonna have to look into alternatives! I already check my statement online multiple times a day so its good I'm on top of it I guess, but now I'm more paranoid then ever. Arg this sucks.

I can't be sure of this, but the fact that the debit card's 'home' is a foreign country bank may have something to do with it.

That's the explanation I've gotten from a few places I've tried to use it.

I'm switching to direct deposit to my bank through Payoneer for all the sites that offer it and for those that don't I just take out the cash.

Mine has declined at Walgreens randomly (even though I used to go there all the time), at grocery stories (random), for amazon.com only 1 time, and when trying to order a pizza online??? Very random.

I checked this specific account, and there seems there is an issue on the merchant's end. Payoneer is not declining the payment.

In general, we would only decline charges due to a mismatch in billing information, or insufficient funds. With the merchant, in some rare cases they don't accept prepaid cards, though this wouldn't be an issue specific to Payoneer (but with all prepaid cards).

If you are still interested in alternatives, you could accept the money on payoneer, withdraw the cash, and then use moneypaks to load it back onto another prepaid card like AccountNow or Mango Money. I used both of those when I didn't have a bank account. It sucks having fees for payoneer and then fees to load it back onto another card, but both AccountNow and Mango Money are very secure.

No offense to payonner or anything but after the whole epassporte thing... I don't really keep money on places like this. I prefer more "mainstream" companies when it comes to money.

Also if you live near a Walmart that has a bank inside... 1st Convenience Bank or Woodforest Bank are the two here in Texas that are inside Walmarts (but any bank inside Walmart is typically going to be the same way), they will open an account to pretty much anyone as long as you don't have a balance with them. They do "second chance" checking accounts. So even if you have credit issues, balances with other banks, or past Check Systems issues they will still open an account for you.
    xoxo ~ Sarah

Payoneer is actually a fully regulated US company, mainly dealing with more mainstream companies to provide payout solutions (such as freelancing, affiliate networks, translation service providers, etc). We don't believe in discriminating between industries, however, and extend our services to Adult as well.

Currently we work with over 2,000 companies and have millions of payees processing over $1 billion in payments per year. There have been a lot of changes in the online payment industry since epassporte to ensure that such a situation does not happen again.

Of course, you should feel safe with any payment solution you choose - so if you feel more comfortable withdrawing the funds immediately I do understand that. Though I can assure you that Payoneer takes every necessary precaution to ensure our account holders' financial security.

Correct, with many prepaid cards regulations require that pre-authorization holds on certain transactions be taken at an amount higher than the actual transaction. With Payoneer, this can be up to 20%, and is generally applied to merchants such as hotels and restaurants.

For example, if a hotel places a temporary hold on your card of $100, it will appear as $120. Once the hotel completes the transaction and charges your card, this temporary hold will be released and you will see a completed charge for $100 (the actual amount). This is in accordance with prepaid card regulations that require us to ensure that the cardholder will have sufficient funds to complete the transaction (for merchants that generally give service before payment is completed).
