Default Renting an apartment as a 'private contractor'

So I applied to an apartment complex as a private contractor and showed recent bank statements as proof of income, but the owner wants more proof that I am regularly earning money. I haven't worked long enough (since Jan 24) to have had filed quarterly taxes yet and my cub certainly has not issued me any contractual documentation.
Any suggestions as to what I could do?

Perhaps have your manager write a letter, verifying that you make $x/week. If you can, money talks, so offer to pay a few months' rent up front to let them know you're serious and that you can afford it.

This is usually the best way to get an apartment without adequate proof of income. Be sure to get a receipt for the additional months so the landlord doesn't 'forget' about them down the line.

Ask your manager if there's anything he can do to verify your earnings/employment. Luckily for me my agent writes verification of employment, "pay stubs," etc (I can tell them to write the pay stubs out in whatever amount I want that's reasonable) and they list my job title as "customer relations" instead of dancer. haha.) If the manager can't help, then like other girls said, offering an extra month(s)' rent as an alternative to them not accepted your application may work, too. (For example, ask them if the info you provided should be enough, and if not, you could offer the alternative of extra months' rent down.)

At the most basic level, the reason that 'corporate' landlords now require proof of income is that an apartment lease falls under the definition of a loan. In other words, from a technical standpoint, if a 6 month lease is involved, paying first and last month's rent actually amounts to a 33% 'down payment' plus 'borrowing' the remaining 67% from the landlord. Offering to pay the entire 6 months rent up front removes the de-facto 'borrowing' of money from the landlord, thus removes the need for proof of income.

There are several detailed discussions about this in the Dollar Den.

Have you provided a bank statement? That normally does the trick! Also, do you have a contact at the club? If so, ask them to be a reference on your application form (just to confirm that you are currently employed) .

    Money talks and bullshit walks.

Two years ago I gave my old landlord over $4000 cash for "insurance" because of my independent contractor job (dancer) at the time for an 1,800 sq foot condo.

I've always paid rent upfront and on time, without being asked, and my ex-landlord actually sold my husband and I the very same condo last month! We are now homeowners. Of course, I have a degree now and am retired from dancing--but it just goes to show where dancing can lead you.

I never would have owned a home by 21 if not for dancing and the sound plan stripperweb helped instill in me!
